How does the Switch/2 not count?

You're coming at me with alt accusations without anything to back it up. Prove it or stfu. I've visited icon era in the past, just as many have here, mainly because they had screenshots of a in development game. It soon became apparent what a cesspool it was with all the meltdowns about PS. NeoGAF is the only forum I've made an account with.
Not liking MS as a company doesn't make me a Sony fanboy. You have only been waving the PC flag and shitting on consoles since the continued downfall of MS in the console space. I know the benefits of PC gaming, I just prefer a simple console experience with a more level playing field when gaming online.
Dench dude, tone is difficult to get across in text, my panties are not twisted. I'm also derailing with these replies so I'm going to draw a line in the sand. If you want to continue then dm, if that's possible on here? No worries if not.Ok, so why are you getting your panties in such a twist and pointing and declaring fan boy etc for someone with a different opinion than you, who is just sharing facts?
Let's be honest, you have on more than a few instances been a Xbox console warrior. Like when you were claiming "astrobot was Sony sponsored game of the year". So it is ironic for you of all, to claim that.Ok, so why are you getting your panties in such a twist and pointing and declaring fan boy etc for someone with a different opinion than you, who is just sharing facts?

It all sounds nice, but Sony would probably be the first major global company to use a near-monopoly in its segment to actually do something good for customers and suppliers. After all, those companies always prioritize growth and profit. For me, Nintendo isn't a serious alternative either - the Switch is simply too weak and lacks too many third-party games.
You forgot a little detail - twice the priceSo you think a hardcore gamer wouldn't be interested in a console that's 35-40% more powerful, free Cloud saves, and possibly free multiplayer, and third party PC stores?
Usual suspects, former Xbox fans now hard apologets for PCI supplied an answer to your thread. PC gaming is growing at a rapid rate and the industry will be completely fine without MS consoles. Its been fine all gen right? so what are you actually asking and we can discuss it?

Just like on the operating system market? These fanboys have no idea what a true one console (switch doesn't count) ecosystem will do.

They will either pretend to be a PC fan or a Nintendo fan. They are afraid to directly compare Xbox with Playstation. What is the deal with you Xbox refugees? Now MS is on the back foot all of a sudden the walled garden is shite, but it was perfectly acceptable when you were feeling on top of the world on the outset of this gen with the series consoles. All that excitement over the potential loss of the biggest games for Playstation gamers when MS got their acquisitions over the line, but now exclusives are evil as MS becomes more of a third party developer. Finally we have PC as the saviour of gaming and coincidentally MS central to that too with their dominance in the desktop OS. The general consensus among the MS faithful is that they are going to win out because the trifecta of cloud, gamepass, and the eventual dominance windows/PC in the gaming space and the mass migration of console users. Unless of course they buy the magnificent Magnus which is both console and PC. How can MS lose? You have the temerity to point people in the direction of icon era when you yourself are one of the biggest fanboys on this forum.
I get it dude, everyone has a preference but there's no need to yuck someone else's yum to validate your own choices.
We will see a lot more of that in 2026
LOL
Xbox fans will magically become part of the PCMR cult
That's the benefit of non-competition, nobody pushing to continually make things worse. It all sounds nice, but Sony would probably be the first major global company to use a near-monopoly in its segment to actually do something good for customers and suppliers. I already mentioned this to you before. Sony has complete dominance in PS1 and PS2. And Xbox has not been a competition since 2013. Overall Xbox negatively influenced Playstation with paying to play online, putting first party exclusives on PC and live service push.It all sounds nice, but Sony would probably be the first major global company to use a near-monopoly in its segment to actually do something good for customers and suppliers. We all say stupid shit but we don't go around saying the stupid shit for over a year even after being corrected again and again by more sane members. It's the same old circle of life for the Sony leaning group on here.
-Read something you dont like
-Attack user and claim they are a fan boy
- other sony users pile on when riling a user up and antagonising until they say stupid shit.
I have said stupid shit, I bet we all have at some time but we can improve and evolve as a poster.
If you read what I actually posted in this clearly inflammatory thread, with 0 data then I dont think it is in anyway Hyperbole.
They aren't competing anymore they are a third party publisher. I don't know how it will affect us tbh. Probably ok if the user moves to pc and enjoys all the benefits of that Vs the shitty closed garden of console gaming.
Ms seems to be doing well without consoles which is annoying imo because I thinkt hey had good hardware on the series x. Shown by how well it's performing Vs the ps5 pro in recent comparisons. So ultimately the consumer loses out for less competition but the industry seems fine.
More people seem to be waking up and going pc than ever so that's a good thing.
Realising that steam doesn't charge for online gaming, cloud saves, incredible family sharing etc. the best is already out there and it looks like consumers are migrating at a steady clip to pc gaming, so I think we will all be fine.
Cakeboxer already has a PCMR avatar while being subscribed to Game Pass.
This again? Your obsession with my avatar is starting to get worrying. And it may surprise you, but PC players also use Game Pass. It's called PC Game Pass, and there are even PC-exclusives.I already mentioned this to you before. Sony has complete dominance in PS1 and PS2. And Xbox has not been a competition since 2013. As long as Sony and Nintendo are able to maintain 100m+ userbases alongside the push for everything( outside Nintendo) to end up on PC, Xbox's participation as a hardware manufacturer nowadays is neither here nor there. Just them even releasing another Xbox now seems more like having something on shelves for hells sake and not because there's wide market demand or hype for the brand at this point. I mean I dont think this has been a great( strictly speaking first party output) gen for Sony but clearly even with shit market conditions and economic downturn they can still move consoles. Many of the issues affecting Xbox are because they've become extremely proficient at pointing a shotgun at their own foot and never missing.
Azure has Oroburus'd Xbox and surface division next year gobbling up all the ram for AI.
Speculating on 2026, As many have said that means Xbox becomes the app, not the console. I would bet that you'll probably see Xbox partner with more 3rd parties for branded devices as MSI, Asus etc have been stockpiling ram. So In essence an acceleration of their 2027 plans with Magnus, just with current gen chips and hardware as I think MS will probably stop production of Series consoles ( Unless they are driving subscriptions - We just don't know )
Surface division will see their niche and low profit models cut, and you'll just have a few premium high end business friendly models.
Dread to think what will happen if the AI bubble bursts.
Is there evidence for this? Anecdotally I see most of my children's friends owning consoles (granted bought for them by parents), although they also play on mobile and tablets too. I would be genuinely interested to see the actual numbers for this though. I imagine it has just flatlined and growth elsewhere may make it seem like relatively it is shrinking maybe. That whole "100M consoles sold" going to be a thing of the past as gen Z comes of age, and gen alpha become the new target audience. they are not interested in consoles. They are not intrested in owning any form of physical media, in fact thats an old fashioned idea to them. if its not COD, fortnight or some othe pick up and play GAAS game, they can play on a tablet, forget about it. people under 25 are not really buying consoles anymore. and in japan mobile gaming has been king for sometime, unless you are nintendo.
Yeah, Microsoft forced Sony to charge for online. They could have kept it free like they did in the PS3 era. But they decided to charge. Poor sony! Forced! LOLI already mentioned this to you before. Sony has complete dominance in PS1 and PS2. And Xbox has not been a competition since 2013. Overall Xbox negatively influenced Playstation with paying to play online, putting first party exclusives on PC and live service push.

The comparison with the PS1 and PS2 doesn't hold, because the market and the role of platforms have changed. Today, it's no longer just about consoles, but about complete digital ecosystems with stores, subscriptions, cloud gaming, and live services, where a dominant provider can exert much greater control over prices, visibility, and accessibility of games than in the '90s and early 2000s.
Back then, the competitive landscape was also different: Sony, Nintendo and Sega were relevant players, and the market was smaller, physically based, and less connected. Today, in the traditional high-end segment, practically only Sony and Microsoft compete directly, while Nintendo deliberately pursues a different approach. If Microsoft were to disappear, there would effectively be only one player left in the core console market, with no meaningful competition. This is not a return to the PS2 era, but rather a one-sided concentration of power in a much larger, more expensive, and more connected market. And such situations almost never benefit customers in the long run.
I keep telling people this site is diet Iconera. IThat user is flipping weird. Where did they come from? It feels like they just popped up out of the wood work over the last few weeks.
Fanboy spotted.Yeah because PS1 and PS2 didn't happen. And then Xbox influenced Sony with paying to play online, PC ports of exclusives and live service push.
$600 was not arrogance though. The OG fat PS3 cost them $840 to manufacture. Remember Xbox 360 had paying to play online but Sony offered online play for free.

Portal is an accessory, not a platform. It's not gaining ground on anything with 2 million sold, nor is it in direct competition with consoles. The Quest headset is obviously in completion with other headsets like PSVR2, which it annihilated. Your console warrior gaslighting doesn't on me, Three. Sorry.
Nah, AI is here to stay and MS along with Nvidia and google have positioned themselves to be the main companies in the future for AI. which by the way just seems to be integrating itself into human life even faster than the internet did. Its here to stay and its not going anywhere...for better or worse. and MS, NVIDIA and google will be the biggest players in that field. Xbox may have failed but lets not forget how big MS are outside of gaming. windows sits in atleast 98% of the desktops in the world, and that OS is certainly being primed for the AI driven future we are all heading into.
I got a few demigod level random as fuck laugh emojis and blocked them. I'm getting pretty good at spotting very quickly if someone is likely to ever write something worth reading ever again for the rest of their life. Answer here is, probably not. I doubt I'm going to miss out on any riveting game commentary there. That user is flipping weird. Where did they come from? What do you take issue with now, old man?
That I said "shitty" in front of walled garden or if I said the series X has been doing well in DF comparisons lately?
Probably a PlayStation fanatic who got banned earlier this year and is now using a backup account. But honestly, I don't care. It doesn't matter who did what or where. What matters is being able to have a discussion with people TODAY. I always try. Sometimes it makes sense, but in this case, it doesn't. So I'm not engaging with this user anymore. That user is flipping weird. Where did they come from? It feels like they just popped up out of the wood work over the last few weeks.
Honestly I could reply to any random post of yours with that gif and chances are it would be entirely appropriate. Your revelations about PC gaming and "walled gardens" are cute though

So many people are struggling to cope with Xbox's position now. Like the poster you quoted.
Sony Ponies pushing Green Rats into the comforting embrace of PCMR
Same PS2 era that had (Dreamcast in the beginning) Gamecube and Xbox… So choice?
Oh ok.
Tell us again how u informed you are.
Or more like, Sony fanatics have moved their ire from Xbox to PC. Now that Xbox is on the way out.So many people are struggling to cope with Xbox's position now. Like the poster you quoted.
It's created a weird space where the users who would defend all things Xbox, now saying PC gaming is being attacked by "Sony fans/guys" when in reality in this forum at least, I don't think anyone cares imo.
Sony may or not release more games to PC. That's been a discussion and talking point for years, so not exactly new and certainly not under an orchestrated attack. Strange times.
Only thing Sony pushed me to do is stop gaming on PS5 exclusively after about a year. It is nice they put most of their stuff on PC though.Sony Ponies pushing Green Rats into the comforting embrace of PCMR
All the price hikes and U-turns Microsoft have been doing. Making a complete mockery of their platform and user base. Studios shuttered after launching critically acclaimed games, huge titles cancelled. But you still give them credit - that's some uber brand loyalty.Only thing Sony pushed me to do is stop gaming on PS5 exclusively after about a year. MS gets some of the credit for transitioning users to PC from Xbox. I never would have considered it in previous gens, but they've laid out the groundwork for a smooth transition. Switched a lot of their users to digital only this gen. Investing in Play Anywhere, and making Windows UI resemble Xbox. Investing in a custom chip for BC on PC. No one else is coming close to what they're doing to create a smooth console to PC transition. PC in general, and all 3rd parties also get the credit. Everything is on PC now, including a lot of niche Japanese games.

man, the delusional takes from you are great. You were just in a thread about a PSN discount trial yesterday where your boyOr more like, Sony fanatics have moved their ire from Xbox to PC. Now that Xbox is on the way out.
Yeah, so you're agreeing with me. You moved your Ire to PC, because "Xbots" are moving to PC now. Espcially with the rumored hyrbid Xbox. War never changes.man, the delusional takes from you are great. You were just in a thread about a PSN discount trial yesterday where your boyDenchDeckard brought out the old "buy a PC now" out of the blue with you backing him up and you think its the Sony fanatics "moving their ire"?
Be real, you know that's not the reason why PC gets brought up by a lot of ex-xbox folks now.
