Dude. You said the bible hates you. All I said is that's wrong.

My sarcastic statement was a statement about the bible as viewed through the eyes of a biggot, not a serious critical examination about what readers of the bible take away from it. You're putting words in my mouth.

Ok. This must be the first time sometimes been accused of putting words in someone's mouth, when they're the exact words that were used. But ok. I see your point.

My impression was that it was your personal viewpoint. Which I wanted to point out was wrong. My mistake. There's so much bible hate that it's hard to tell when someone's being satirical.

Love thy neighbor as thyself
Do unto others as you would have others do unto you
Judge not lest ye be judged

These are all nice! The NT has some neat stuff in it. But I don't think it's hard to figure out why gay folks might not feel like the Bible and Christians are big fans of theirs. Even aside from having a fundamental aspect of you declared "sinful," "love the sinner hate the sin" is easy to say and almost impossible to live up to. Human minds just aren't wired that way.

I have to admit, I'm actually kinda impressed by this level of trolling.

They're awful, of course.

Also, I kinda want to hate-watch that Audacity movie, now.

It seemed odd to me at the time but it's sort of irrelevant given that they got more than double that back in donations from assholes.

The couple sued for damages because they were outed by the bakery and then harassEd snd threatened. (Not 100 percent sure)
No it doesn't man. And there's no need to be smart. Tele said the bible hates you, or something to that effect. I was merely saying it doesn't. If you want to consider me a bible thumper because I have some basic knowledge of it then fine.

Yes it does.

Exodus 22 18. You must not allow a sorceress to live.

Leviticus 20 13
If a man has sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They are to be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.

Deuteronomy 17
If there be found among you, within any of thy gates which the LORD thy God giveth thee, man or woman, that hath wrought wickedness in the sight of the LORD thy God, in transgressing his covenant; 17:3 And hath gone and served other gods, and worshipped them, either the sun, or moon, or any of the host of heaven, which I have not commanded; 17:4 And it be told thee, and thou hast heard of it, and enquired diligently, and, behold, it be true, and the thing certain, that such abomination is wrought in Israel; 17:5 Then shalt thou bring forth that man or that woman, which have committed that wicked thing, unto thy gates, even that man or that woman, and shalt stone them with stones, till they die.

If we wanna get technical here, those are all in the old testament which arent supposed to be followed by Christians.....But of course many do because it can help back up their bigoted views.

Someone posted this with a very different headline on Facebook. It had the word "awesome" in it.

I think I need to delete someone.

I completely agree.

It's not like the New Testmanet is free from that too:

So God let them go ahead and do whatever shameful things their hearts desired. As a result, they did vile and degrading things with each other's bodies. Instead of believing what they knew was the truth about God, they deliberately chose to believe lies. So they worshiped the things God made but not the Creator himself, who is to be praised forever. Amen. That is why God abandoned them to their shameful desires. Even the women turned against the natural way to have sex and instead indulged in sex with each other. And the men, instead of having normal sexual relationships with women, burned with lust for each other. Men did shameful things with other men and, as a result, suffered within themselves the penalty they so richly deserved. When they refused to acknowledge God, he abandoned them to their evil minds and let them do things that should never be done. Their lives became full of every kind of wickedness, sin, greed, hate, envy, murder, fighting, deception, malicious behavior, and gossip. They are backstabbers, haters of God, insolent, proud, and boastful. They are forever inventing new ways of sinning and are disobedient to their parents. They refuse to understand, break their promises, and are heartless and unforgiving. They are fully aware of God's death penalty for those who do these things, yet they go right ahead and do them anyway. And, worse yet, they encourage others to do them, too. (Romans 1:24-32 NLT)

In other words, homosexuality is the result of people abandoning God. They sin deliberately just to disobey him. And God's penalty for "those who do these things" is death.

probably totally out of context.. if God wanted gays to be punished with death, wouldn't a lot or at least some Christian countries punish gays with death? why wouldn't they if it's the word of God?

Nope. You can read the whole letter if you want. The quoted fragment is from the very beginning (the first chapter).

And yes, I'm sure many years ago Christian countries did punish gays with death (there are Christians that would still love to do it). Then they became more civilized and only put gays to jail for the act of sodomy (guess where they get the idea that it should be illegal?). Nowadays there are only 10 countries where homosexuality is punishable by death, but all of them are Islamic countries.

That particular scripture says God will deal with the evil ones, and who says they wouldn't if they could legally? I'm sure the duck dynasty dude would.

Also Paul, who wrote that, is a former killer of Christians, so when he converts he has real hard line stances about Christianity that Jesus never touched. So depending on which passages you choose, you could have completely different stances on these issues.

LOL. Nice try.

and Christian countries did execute gay people, mate. The last person in France to be burned at the fucking stake for it was in the 18th century if i recall correctly. It was only when the enlightenment arrived and the napoleonic code was introduced that it was decriminalised in some European countries.

And of course, in some Christian countries it might as well still be criminalised.

Someone should have a banker buy a cake from these assholes, then proceed to ask them their views on Christ's teachings regarding Usury.

How are the bakery's actions here not blatant harassment? Sending hateful videotapes...

There is actual ambiguity about whether they should or shouldn't be. They fell out of style but there is no solid scriptural basis for saying they don't apply.

If we can throw out old Testament then no ten commandments either? No Genesis? No daVID? No Abraham?

God changed his mind? Same God no? Was it ever OK? The bible is not the word of god? If it isn't, what's the mechanism for choosing which parts to follow?

Are you serious? It is explicitly clear.

Why dont they now? Because they've been dragged kicking and screaming to Modern society. They used to burn witches, kill gays, etc in a not so distant past.

Why dont they anymore? ASK them. My guess is they realize it's gross nonsense but rationalize anyways

Yep, all of this stuff.

Am I the only one that finds the unnamed restaurant gift cards to be totally fucking random?

Unless they are for the pretty good but vastly overrated Chick-fil-a.

Dear The Gays,

God loves you. He loves you so much that if you do anything gay he will throw you into an eternal pit of fire to be tortured for all time.

No hate here at all. He loves you! It's just that he's going to torture you forever for no reason except that you're gay. So maybe try not to be so gay?

Love you!

Love,

The Bible
When you put it that way, I realize it's actually my fault for choosing not to accept God's love by doing gay stuff! Wow, I've been such a jerk to God, who is a cool guy.

is the movie some kind of parody?

Have you made it to the part where the dude just starts randomly reading the Bible mid conversation on his iPad? (about 6:30) I burst out laughing.

Why is it these wacky Christian movies are always so poorly made? Even the bigger budget ones have terribad production values.

Aww, the girl broke up with her partner for a second chance to save herself from hell

edit: damn at behind the scenes, homosexuals are a very difficult issue for the "average christian"

There are several places in Africa in which being gay is punishable by death actually.

The reason why it's not legal in America is because the federal government, civil rights and the law trump an out dated nonsensical old book.

tbh I don't know how you can go through life not knowing this.

And many of those laws in Africa were pushed by fundamentalist Christians form the US going over and campaigning for them.
