Wayforward, I was going to bat for you, and you turn around and give me this.......?????
It probably ain't Wayforward's fault, man. In this industry, there are the studios that get work, and companies that command work, and there are just very, very few companies who get the power of commanding their own destinies.
WayForward has a few properties that it fully controls, but for the most part, they're out there hustling with pitches and project samples, and when they take money from somebody else to do a job, the moneyman has the power to make the decisions. The moneyman says how much your budget is, the moneyman says if you get extra time in your budget to work on improving the game if time runs tight, and in cases like this, the moneyman tells you to dance on Nintendo Bandstand if the two corporations decide that's how they want to sell your product.
I'm sure WayForward is proud of Bakugan (it does look good, I like the turnbased/realtime battle system hybrid, and the world is rendered cute,) but it is Bakugan, no getting around that, There are core gamers in that place, and I'm sure folks at WayForward were aware that treating this as a Nintendo Direct reveal (the only one of the show, and with a special lead-in teaser as extra kicker) was going to go fly for most gamers like a lead balloon...
