Depends on why you'd call Divinity 3.I’m really hoping it really is a Baldurs Gate game and not Divinity 3. Already preordered on Steam and the characters creator looks rich.
Larian said their team size (around 400 core developers) and budget (not disclosed) are on AAA levels.Does Baldurs Gate 3 count as an AAA title?
How much was the budget, anyone know?
Damn, 400 devs, thats definitely AAA level.Larian said their team size (around 400 core developers) and budget is on AAA levels.
Early access assuaged those concerns years ago. It’s not a classic Bioware game, rather something new, but they did fully commit to the setting, mechanics, and inspiration. If you liked the old infinity engine games then BG3 is a treat.I’m really hoping it really is a Baldurs Gate game and not Divinity 3. I'd hope not, considering it's not made by Bioware.Early access assuaged those concerns years ago. It’s not a classic Bioware game, rather something new, but they did fully commit to the setting, mechanics, and inspiration. If you liked the old infinity engine games then BG3 is a treat.
Add Spiderman in OctoberAlso, fucking Armored Core VI between BG3 and Starfield, already preordered both
August & September is way too fucking packed!
Well, you "should" because they are outstanding games (especially the second, one of the all-timers), but they are barely related to this one, which takes place more than a century later, so not a prerequisite by any mean.I have BG 1 & 2 at my backlog. Should I play those first?
If I was only to play 3 cRPG's for the rest of my life Baldurs gate 2, Divinity original sin 2 and Arcanum would be the three, so in short...I have BG 1 & 2 at my backlog. Should I play those first?
You can solve that by forsaking sleep and social life. Then count me out. I actually think this game seems great, and I definitely wanna try it one day, but these games are getting too damn big now and I don't have the time to play them unfortunately. Still on Tears of the Kingdom, (and to be honest I can't believe any of you have had the time to complete it, I think it's the biggest game I've ever played for sure), and of course Starfield's coming up and I know that game will suck my life away more than I'm willing to admit, so I can't realistically make room for anything else that big in the coming year.
Good for those who are pumped about it though.
If I was fifteen years younger I'd give it a shot. You can solve that by forsaking sleep and social life.
If you start the game 72 hours before release, the save will be kept (though you still won't be able to go beyond act 1 during that time)I would play it now if it was guaranteed my save wouldn’t wipe.

Considering everything but Act 1 and fairly low levels haven't been playtested by Early Access Users, chances are BG3 will need some patching as well. It's a big RPG.Considering starfield will be a broken mess. Why don't you play bg3 first
Levels get increasingly more difficult to get as you level up (DOS2 was like that too). You'll likely be taking much much longer to go from 5 to 10.I was reading over the latest details given by Larian and it seems the level cap has been changed from 10 to 12 for the end release of the game... which has me wondering...
in the early access you can reach level 5 very quickly considering the supposed lenght of the game being 75+ hours for average playthrough. Does that mean we are going to be hitting max level by like half way through the game? seems a little odd. Maybe (I hope) they increased the level progression in the early access to show how things work more of a rough 'take a look' deal. Also from memory the D&D ruleset it is using has a max level of 20, no?

As for D&D ruleset, from my knowledge level cap varies from session to session. Some DMs may cap the levels to lower values, since apparently getting to 20 more or less already turns your character into some demigod-like entity in terms of power.
I have the game in Early Access as well. I love it. I already have 60 hours in it. But I'd have to disagree. To me it's Divinity in D&D ruleset for a few reasons.Early access assuaged those concerns years ago. if you like wasteland 3 you will like original sin 2I've been tempted by divinity original sin 2 for a while now. Jason and kirk loved it when it came out years ago when they reviewed it on triple click.
I'm not sure if I have the patience to play 100 hours of baldurs gate but I dig the shadow run games and wasteland 3 so when these are deep discounted I'll get em
Originally the game was going to have a 1st person narrator, with each origin character and custom VA delivering the lines. But then they changed that cause apparently the fans weren't digging it. I heard some of the lines as well and personally prefer the narrator they went with in the end, felt a bit awkward at times imo.I have the game in Early Access as well. I love it. No RTCwP ( I wish they'd pull a POEII or Owlcat and do both)
4 man team. Severely limits your optimal team. Being so limited lends itself to the standard Fighter/Thief/Mage/Cleric trope. BG1 had 6 and BG2 had 6 or was it 5?
The third person narration is very Larian and less BG.
That aside, I still love it. I honestly feel like they are tagging off the BG name and should have used their own D&D name.
Oh, I don't mind the internal narration, I rather enjoy it from a gameplay experience. I only mean to say, it is a departure from BG in my mind and more of a Larian schtick.Originally the game was going to have a 1st person narrator, which each origin character and custom VA delivering the lines. BG1, BG2, IWD1, IWD2, and Planescape: Torment all had a party size of 6. I agree that it allowed for more interesting party compositions and even for bringing along characters who might not be that viable in combat for story/personality reasons.I have the game in Early Access as well. I think its very likely they'll make one for this game too. I imagine it may cause some balancing issues, but nothing a higher difficulty won't solve.
all i know is demon mommy is coming to my partyI hope sooner than later.
I find myself having trouble determining my starting class. I like Lae'zel so I don't want to be a martial class. I like Gale and Shadowheart, so healer/mage type roles are out. That's 3 out of 4 slots covered. I'm less interested in Wyll and Astarion. So I guess my starting class will likely be a damage dealer or hybrid. It's so sadly limiting. I also assume these aren't the only companions, so you'll be missing out on so much due to having such a small party size.
We also have Minsc and most likely Halsin. Maybe Jaheira.
Arcanum. Now that’s a name I haven’t heard in a long time. Damn game was a gem!If I was only to play 3 cRPG's for the rest of my life Baldurs gate 2, Divinity original sin 2 and Arcanum would be the three, so in short...
haha indeed.Arcanum. Now that’s a name I haven’t heard in a long time. Damn game was a gem!
I can never get it to work properly. Even with the latest update. If you alt tabb just once the game becomes unplayablehaha indeed.
The whole is nostalgic as hell, I replayed if over the Christmas holidays and enjoyed every second. The systems and UI are extremely dated mind, so be aware of that if you do revisit, if was a struggle at times.
it shocks me that there hasn't been a revisit / reboot / sequel but then I realised the IP is owned by none other than fucking Bobby Kotick and his goons at Activision, so it probably will never see the light of day again.
nop, hasn't gone on sale even onceThere is no place that currently has a discount on this, right?
They actually made a fully 3rd person rpg onceIt would be insane to see this studio try transition to a 3p perspective eventually. They would eviscerate all the competition.
yeah it runs like shit even with the fan-made patches. You can run it in compatibility mode and windowed mode and that fixes many issues but end of the day it's a 25 year old gameI can never get it to work properly. Even with the latest update. If you alt tabb just once the game becomes unplayable
You mean, like, right now?And here I'm waiting for the summer sale to buy Divinity original sin 2. So I'll buy bg3 in a year or two, maybe even more. It depends on the price drop
