No no no, it's good that the cop is black! This way we can ALL find a way to rally behind the victim. Because honestly, who would give the benefit of the doubt to a black cop? It's too confusing. That's like double jeopardy or something (I don't know how jeopardy works).
If they fire him they're admitting that they're hiring people that are unfit for the job. It's a black eye on them as well. Seems like no one ever wants to admit they made a mistake. I'm guessing that the guy said something the cop didn't much care for and he lost his temper. No one is buying the story about a fighting stance.I can't believe the police department is trying to justify the officer's actions. Fire his ass, say sorry, and try and fix the root of the problem. They need to stop defending this type of behavior.
There are always going to be people who can't handle the pressures of the job. The problem is accountability. These stories always end up being about deflecting blame instead of correcting mistakes. Why does no American politician ever dares to suggest reform in the police corps? I mean, people see this and thinks that there's no problem or whatsoever with police acting like thugs? I mean, Jesus fuck.
Could be that the Police in a lot of cases are localised in America being paid and answerable to local authorities like the Mayor and councils so any reform would have to be filtered and reviewed by thousands of different agencies, making it difficult to enforce an overarching policy. Why does no American politician ever dares to suggest reform in the police corps? I mean, people see this and thinks that there's no problem or whatsoever with police acting like thugs? I mean, Jesus fuck.

No, the person shitposting is the one trying to start the argument. Honestly I don't know how people don't get banned for constantly doing shit like that. You're the one creating the argument....
In my years of retail, I've been called tons of nasty things by rude customers. It still gave me no justification to ever attack a customer. It doesn't matter what was said at all. That shit was personal.
Still cant tell what made him lose it like that. He was clearly wanting to beat his ass from the word go.
EDIT: Ok I see him push the girl a few seconds before the cop goes nuts. And then looks like he's saying something to the cop. This needs audio. Maybe he said something about the cops mother.
That shit was personal.
LMAO..like they beat you to it. "Fighting stance" huh? Quite an amazing lie right there. Welp, carry on..Why not wait until people actually start doing this kind of thing for such obvious events (like this one) before pre-emptively shitposting?
Some people here are purposely overly antagonistic. Is your day incomplete if you don't get into an argument on neogaf?

Holy shit that video. That officer should be fired and charged with assault,he wasn't looking to make a arrest he was looking to fight.
You shouldn't support responding to non-violence with violence. No doesnt matter what he said as far as justifying it, but I'm curious to hear.
As far as you though, if someone was nasty and rude to you and you popped him in the mouth I'd support you. A cop is a different story altogether.

too bad the cop isn't white though.
would be a much bigger story/thread if he was however.
so when will there be a stand your ground law put in place to legally protect yourself from a cop?
if there was no video and witnesses, this cop couldve easily lied and done worse. there needs to be some legal way to protect yourself from this besides a lawsuit after the fact.
Never, you cannot attack a peace officer at any time. They represent the law, to attack them is to attack the entire justice system and the rule of law. Best way to protect yourself from a bad cop is to record, comply, and report. Most of the incidents with these cops are avoided if people don't make trouble for them, but then again these incidents also help weed out the bad cops.so when will there be a stand your ground law put in place to legally protect yourself from a cop?

Dude appeared to be a mouthy dick.
Top tip: Cops aren't allowed to hold and pummel you because you're a dick.
Everyone involved except the lady is a clownfart.
BOTH SIDES everyone...
Both sides.

You guys laugh but wait until we find the two grew up together and the cop actually did have a full knowledge of the victim's prowess in drunken style. I can see youtube tutorial videos of home dude axe kicking slabs of granite in half coming to light. You guys will be sorry you were so quick to damn this officer then.
Except when it's cops or politicians committing the crime. Gotta be tough on poor people crime. It's important to clarify.
They can take it out of the three cops' pensions. Honestly, if the city didn't think they could afford this, then they really failed in protecting themselves by not properly training their police force. The fact is, we know the city has at least one cop that is willing to fly off the handle and commit acts of vicious brutality with no provocation. Is this an outlier, or systemic problem?
We should wait for all the facts that are uncovered by the Police investigating this claim.
That video doesn't prove anything, it depends on how you look at it. For instance, if you play it backwards you see the police helping Mr. Truss and sending him on his way.
The fact that the cop could have conceivably gotten away with this scott free is the problem. Focusing on cops' mental well-being instead of discussing how the law makes unpunished poor police behavior possible allows people to use the "not all cops" argument, no matter how many incidents there are.
