1. It's crappy distant-last generation hardware without any of the effects -- texture filtering, smooth alpha channel -- that we take for granted these days.
2. The touch screen is clumsy and worthless.
3. The second screen is an obstacle to decent game design.
4. Both screens are incredibly low resolution.
5. WiFi implementation is half-assed. It can't even connect to a standard router, and it has no WEP support.
At least it has a fuckin' sound chip, and even a barebones WiFi implementation. Sadly, I think the microphone could be the most innovative part of the whole shitbag kit.
1) True, but in 2D games or N64 style ports, why does that matter? It's not like developers are trying to put Halo or Grand Theft Auto on it.
2) I kinda agree, the one I had wasn't sensitive enough it seems like. But I used it most just for Mario DS minigames. Most games don't need that kind of precision though.I'm not cool hand Luke with the stylus, and some of those precision mini games sucked. That's more the fault of those games though than the touch screen.
3) Disagree. I find it pretty useful at times. I don't think it helps or hurts one way or the other.
4) Better than GBA ,and again, the system isn't trying to have Halo or GTA on it o something.
5) Never used it, don't know how it works, and last I checked the online plan hasn't come out so I don't see why its a problem at this point.
Overall I agree with most of your points, but its not like its trying to pull off graphically intensive games. I don't see how better graphics, or better resolution would have made the games Nintendo has come out with any better quality. Yoshi, Wario, Polarium ... none of them would have been made any better. I could sa ythe same about Mario DS too, sure it may have looked a little better, but it already did look better than the N64 version and that didn't add anything at all to the quality. That's my thoughts.
