Banjo-Threeie Debut Trailer!

I want to know how tall are the levels.

The world we see in all the screen seems to be a hub.
They look pretty tall in the video.

I can't find the interview now but in it they said that all the worlds are found in the hub world, They will look like little glass globes, LOG (Lord of Games) uses his magic or something to put you (and Grunty) inside them.

This is incredibly interesting and really makes my hype for the game even larger. If you have any interest you should definitely read it.

Yeah, in reading it I got a big smile on my face. I think that this is going to be a special game.

A lot of questions people have been asking really are in there, including the size of the town (really quite small), the font (good for HD, multiple languages), and multiplayer (they have local YES!).

This game looks so awesome, and I'm very happy having just tonight decided I'll be moving in with my girlfriend in a couple months, so I'll have her 360 to play this :lol

Here is a transcipt of a roundtable interview that Gregg Mayles had with various Rare fan sites today

http://www.rarewitchproject.com/?id=1655
Nice, reading now.

EDIT: Some quotes I thought was interesting...

Spiral Mountain: Can you elaborate on how many Jiggies / challenges there are in total, and how they correspond with the Challenge Spheres we've seen in Showdown Town (i.e. one sphere features one challenge, or are there many challenges within each sphere)?
Gregg Mayles: Yep, easy. There are 96 Jiggy Challenges, then there are another 96 Challenges that are 'different' versions of the Jiggy Challenges, where further Jiggies can be won. Aorund 130 jiggies in total I think. The Game Globes (as they are called) These are the game worlds, They have to be taken to set places in ST (Showdown Town) to activate them. Once a GG is activated, all the doors around ST that lead to that world are available. There are 6 doors into each world. Each door requires a varying amount of Jiggies to open it, so very much like the old game, but more in depth
Spiral Mountain: Yeah, that's great. Is the number of worlds confirmed as 6, or do you have some lying in wait for us?
Gregg Mayles: So lets take Nutty Acres as an example. There are 6 doors into Nutty Acres, each door leads to a different 'act' in Nutty Acres. Each act features a varying amount of Jiggies to be won. Some acts only have 1 jiggy whereas others have several. If the act door is open you can enter it, the order you tackle them in is only controlled by which doors are open around town. Jiggies control pretty much all progress

The Rare Witch Project: Is there a limit on how many of your vehicle creations you can save? Sorry. I thought i'd ask another one.
Gregg Mayles: There will have to be a limit to stop our software breaking, but it will be a very large number. Hundreds I'm sure

Gregg Mayles: That is Grunty's seat. She stands in this to control her vehicles. It is Dingpot though. I'm sure we will make a comment that the name of the game is 'wrong'. Just like Kazooie bitches throughout the game that it would have been better with her old moves. :D

I was sceptical after the first video but I watched it again since reading about the vehicles and I am sure this will be great fun.

Doesnt seem to be much platforming but this seemed like the right choice imo

Because they will forever be the "true sequel" that big bad microsoft killed, for certain people.

In a GameTM mag, they state that they didn't want to just create a hi-def version of yesteryear. The vibe that I get from Rare is that they feel that current platformers rely on the same formula too much.

OMFG Rare PWNS the haters by ridiculizing them in game.

BK:N&B is the cover story of the latest issue of GamesTM. There are a few new screens and details.

-You can instantly jump into the garage at anytime (except during challenges) by pressing the d-pad.

-"...we have been assured that much of the action in the main hub will revolve around classic platforming - an activity rewarded with new components to fill the garage..."

-Once you get a Jiggy, you'll have to safely transport it back to Showdown Town. Based on one of the Famitsu screenshots, it looks like you can carry a few at a time in your vehicle.

-Each of the six levels has a boss unrelated to Grunty. However, each of these stages also features a Grunty Challenge. Each challenge you complete rewards you with a new "key component" to use for your vehicles. For example, you'll be rewarded with spiked wheels for completing the first Grunty Challenge. This allows you to drive up steep slopes and access new areas. It's basically a replacement for Kazooie's talon trot ability from the previous games.

Arghh.. I'm still annoyed that they insist on calling this some sort of "revised" platformer or acting like they've just reinvented the genre or something. Maybe I don't remember the old Banjo games that well either. A platformer at its heart (to me at least) isn't about gaining special abilities. Its about running, climbing, and jumping your way across an obstacle course of a level to reach the end. There may be a star there or a jiggy or whatever, but the point of the game is to become adept at the controls and have the precision to maneuver your way through. The point is not to gain special ability X so that you can do it easily, or in this case to cleverly design a vehicle that does the task. When your game becomes about that, you cease to become a platformer at all.

Thats all that annoys me. That and I hate building games, so I'm pretty sure this Banjo isn't for me. I'm sure the reviews will claim that its 1000x better than the last game to do it, and I'm sure I'll fall for the them and buy it, but I highly doubt that I'll enjoy it near as much as a I would a good platformer with some really cleverly designed difficult levels. The genre isn't stale. Its just been done badly a few times (and there aren't that many platformers out there anyway).

Pretty interesting that the worlds will all be designed with the "lego style" but Spiral Mountain will have the same art style as the first two games. Pretty cool.

I do wish they had simply done another platformer rather than try to reinvent the series, but as long as the game turns out good, I'll be satisfied.

The GamesTM article has some new screens that are definitely not Lego worlds. There is a beautiful shot of a British seaside style pier with a big theatre at the end of it and some sort of carnival world. They look very different from Nutty Acres and Showdown Town (and the coliseum that is part of World Of Sports)

Ramenman (and others) will be happy.

Mundo Rare: Let's discuss the multiplayer a little bit ;-) Are there any offline multiplayer options, and will this mode be all vehicle-related or we'll get some mini-games a la Banjo-Tooie? And are there any plans for a co-op mode?

Gregg Mayles: Yes there is offline stuff

After hearing that you can create anything with the blocks I'm not hating on this game anymore. You can make any transformations yourself with the blocks. You want a T-Rex? Make it with your blocks! You want a Batmobile? Make it with your blocks! Can't wait.

It would be cool if they add some self-destruct parts and you put in on your vehicle to test it and it blows up.:lol

That is totally possible.

omggg

I am so stoked for this game, the stuff you're gonna be able to do with vehicles seems incredible. This may be my most anticipated game this year next to Gears

Thank you! They are giving you the power to make the power ups. Let your imagination run amok! I remember seeing my mind blown with the Forza livery, I expect the same from this.

Say what you want about switching up the single-player experience (which is probably going to rule), but the multi-player possibilities this game-play mechanic opens up are vast and wondrous.

Yeah I was pretty mad because they removed the transformations but it's just hidden behind blocks. I'm pretty hyped up for this and this is coming from a BK, BT, Nintendo fan.
not fanboy :P

You don't really have to build anything to get through the game. There are pre-designed vehicles / blue prints that you can use.

I REALLY REALLY REALLY like the Lego thing going on here. When it was first shown off on Monday on Gamersyde I thought it looked nice, but was a bit disappointed by the art style. After hearing about the game play though, I care no more. The whole Ratchet & Clank style makes sense and it's actually a nice change from the original's more organic feel.

I wouldn't have as big of a problem with the "current platform games are stale" argument if there were, you know, CURRENT PLATFORM GAMES.

silence. the almighty rare has spoken. current platform games are antiquated and need more planes and cars.

I think that they are as well. Give more empowerment to the player.

I don't think it's so much "pwning the haters" as keeping things consistent with Kazooie's character. No chance she'd take losing all of her moves without a few gripes, even if the wand replaces some of them.

Usually I don't care about negativity toward something I like, but the reaction to this game has just been appalling. Rare makes something unique and creative, and all people can do is whine. People bitch about wanting innovative games constantly, then when they get one they cry because it's not the same old game.

Can we move on please?

Do you seriously expect that everyone should be 100% on-board in the first week of the unveiling?

Seriously?

There are still people on this very page complaining, and I'm just sharing my thoughts. It's just frustrating to see people swearing not to buy a game because it's NOT something, rather than judging it on what it IS.

I'm coming around to this game's concept.

I'll admit I was initially a little disappointed about the non-traditional Banjo-ness of the whole thing (sorry, I can't help it!) but thought the videos looked cool. The next hurdle to overcome before acceptance was the feeling that the worlds could be too big and barren and sandboxy but after reading that web chat it sounds like there will be plenty of assigned things to do.

I'm all in!

After more than 2000 replies, people should just let it go.

If you disliked the ideas, go away, ignore the game and stop repeating what was already said for 40 pages. If you like the new concepts and approach Rare is doing, stop complaining about the complainers and feeding the trolls, just ignore them.

I shouldn't even be posting this as it goes against what I'm saying. Anyway, this is my last reply regarding the subject.

Maybe this will help people understand.
Love their expressions. :lol

I'm so glad people like my guide. :lol

if anoyone reads that roundtable Q&A and still thinks Nuts and Bolts isn't a true Banjo game, then they have no idea what makes a true Banjo game. This will be simply incredible.

Why do people seem to think there is some kind of hive mind going on on message boards? Why does someone whining about lack of innovation mean that someone else can't complain when a game strays too far from previous games? I'm disappointed with the change of focus in this game and I've never once complained about a lack of innovation in games, so don't talk like I'm being a hypocrite because of what other people say.

How do you know that they are straying too far? Have you played it? Everybody said that it feels like a Banjo game
