When I was referring to role claims making things exciting on day one, I was referencing past games where people asked to be lynched right away, and almost everyone was okay with it. I am not suggesting I would like someone to do that now, but it would make this day go a lot easier as I find it difficult to do much of anything.
People like to say that lynching gives you reads, but I don't see how the opposite can't also give you reads. So long as whatever we are debating about, there are going to be reads. To debate you need differing opinions, you will at least have two groups of players because of it.

the problem with "reads" based on no lynches is that you still have no concrete information
there are only two sources of concrete information in Mafia:
1 - flips
2 - investigative results
-- even then it is dependent on how confirmed the "investigator" is
you can read people all day and night but if you don't have anything concrete to base it on (and neither of the above points are available on D1!) then you have absolutely zero information

I was the one suspicious of your initial post, and honestly it still strikes me as a bit odd. You've explained your reasoning but effectively saying "I like when people role claim day 1" even if it's followed by a "but please don't do this" still stands out as odd.
But ignoring that, if you find it difficult to do much of anything day 1, why not give us some reads like others have? What do you think of Hyper or Dusk or Dragonz for example?

If we don't lynch today we cannot draw any conclusions as to why people did or did not vote for a particular townie. If we don't lynch today, essentially examining all the votes is meaningless because they exist in a vacuum where nothing actually happened. Who knows if people would have switched votes if we came close to a lynch? Or hop on a bandwagon? If we don't lynch we don't gain any knowledge going into day 2. All we gain is a (presumably) dead townie via night kill.

I have no strong read on batsnacks, but I would put Matty into the "probably scum" pile.
Problem with Matty in particular is that he's posted, but all of them are shit posts, as someone pointed out earlier. And that's especially troubling because, especially day 1, discussion is super important. Just feels like he's trying to hide.
But I think Dusk is still more scummy at this point so

The reason Matty is not in my top three is because I have nothing to go on. I'd like a few more of his posts before I condemn him to scumdom.

The one post is responding to those early generic questions Hyperactivity posted too...those were probably the easiest opportunity to feign a contribution so far. Also he wants to no lynch despite what "the hivemind" (lol town) thinks.
And Time's post got ignored. It could have been a good opportunity for mafia to throw a little more shade on a town TheExodu5.
I still think Hyperactivity has word count cleared himself for this phase but the drop off in activity after people were saying he is suspicious is... something.

Hyper because I'm convinced that he's either scum or neutral. I don't think he's town, at all. I listed reasons earlier in the thread and I'm on mobile so I can't really go back and link them, but they're all there. I discussed it with catvoca.
Exodu5 because he only has one post of note. I also kind of agree with Time's post of him wasting the time he does have. I understand being busy, but why not make it count when you DO have the opportunity? That being said, I don't necessarily think lynching him is a good move, because he hasn't done anything as blatantly scummy as Dusk.
I am also suspicious of anyone who is invisible at this point. Crab, timetokill, a bunch of other people I forget. It's been more than a full 24hrs since the game started and many of them have barely contributed. No one works THAT much. Sorry if I'm being an ass with assuming the details of the lives of others, but I can't help but get a weird feeling about their absence.

The only person I've had any real thoughts towards in this game is the man with the plan, Hyperactivity. I see his actions as trying to get a rather boring day less boring. As far as gathering information based on reads, I'm not sure I said that? Maybe I said something that is being interpreted that way, or I am just rather clueless.
For people saying we can't gather conclusions because of a no lynch, I would disagree. There is a clear divide of people who both support and don't support a no lynch. You could look back on today and see what everyone was pushing for down the line when more events have occurred and there is potentially added context around someones decision to not kill today. You could also look at the votes that were placed before town concluded on a no kill.

With the added context of late game, it could provide information that is useful. As well, you will have the added benefit of seeing who people were voting before they switched, as well as who stuck with their votes. In addition to all of this, we don't kill/expose a useful role on day one.
