BarFights | Fighting game event (SSFIV AE, UMvC3) | December 11

I actually think that "modern" day EC have a slight edge in the competition. I think the prominent WC players are slacking a bit or they haven't made the transition as well (aside from Combofiend, he is looking more fearsome than before).

If I had to pit ChrisG, PRBalrog, Flocker, MastaCJ and Jago vs Justin, Viscant, Combofiend, FChamp, Clockwork.... I think EC would edge it out right now.

Let's see how SCR turns out, that's the first West coast major tournament for the game where we will some solid talent turnout.

lol the thread is more hype to read than this event was to watch. I fell asleep during the thing and only caught portions of the last match.

Yeah, and Yipes too (the version that doesn't drop combos that is)

I applaud the east coast or west coast but Jago beat Mike Ross and he did good against Knives as well which is much better.

The Mike Ross win is pointless.

But I wish Yipes/Huoshen/Nasty/CJ/etc woudl of been invited.

I wanted a huge ass face vs heel tag match.

Jwong/Combo vs Jago/*some other heel type player*

So much salt

Bingo

Probably. I live near nyc and i just have a fierce hatred with wesker players atm. That and coming off a rough and grueling marvel/kof lab session with some friends have left me saltt about marvel as of late.

Plus the end of the stream felt like watching a shitty ending to a wrestling ppv. All in good fun in the end. If anything, this will make scr even more interesting just from the fallout.

don't hate on gootecks for trying to get combofiend vs jago going. he is basically a promoter now and all he was doing was trying to get the best match up going. although he goofed up by not having combofiend vs justin wong after jago refused to play combo.

EC players also have a bigger pool of players but more lack of consistency when you start getting out of the top 4 EC players. NEC top 8 was a mess. Early game and all so it's hard to tell.

I am interested to see how EC stacks up if a potential Wesker nerf is on the horizon. Among the most prominent/consistent NY/EC players like ChrisG, Noel, Jago, PRBalrog, MastaCJ, Yipes... they all use Wesker. It's why I have rated WC players lower now because of the lowered dominance of Phoenix in the meta, WC used to rail on EC due to having more Phoenix players until Flocker had something to say.

The best takeaway from this is also that 3 prominent EC players will be at SCR: ChrisG, Flocker and Jago.

Most definitely. Check out Winter Brawl.

And Flocker wasn't really a turn around. It was so late into MvC3, it amounts to almost nothing.

East Coast is hungry, East Coast never liked Phoenix, which was part of the reason why West Coast was so dominant. Now East Coast has Wesker, and they're pretty dominant if you compare the level of play you see on the West vs. the East.

Again, so many assumptions in play in this thread.

Not only that, but West Coast really rolled on that Phoenix (like you said), She-Hulk, Akuma, and Wolverine tech far more earlier and efficiently than East Coast. And EC couldn't really catch up.

Now, we have a lot of EC players sticking with good characters (like Dante - Yipes, ChrisG -alternate team-, Jago, that little kid who's very good) and Yipes really propelled that Nova technology.

Overall it seems WC's top players don't really have a right team in mind and settled - except for Combofiend.

Are we going to have to wait till next EVO/SB for another East vs. West coast throwdown or do people think there is enough momentum/desire to get one done earlier?

A friend of mine asked me to write about FGC stuff for his site. It's small-time right now (not an insult; he only started it recently and sometimes does shows on JTV), but you never know, ya know?

That's cool. Post it up whenever you get done, I'm sure people would like to read any quality material from fellow Gaffers.

WC players have way more Spencers, Striders and Dooms, these 3 characters are definitely going to be staples. EC has an overwhelming amount of Weskers. I actually think the Nova spread is around even between EC and WC, same for Hawkeye.

I just got home, anybody mind giving me a recap of what happened. I don't play Marvel or watch it much, but I see that's where all the drama(and focus) is. So without going through pages and pages to find bits and pieces of info, can someone let me know what went down?

I'm a bit tired, but this is what I remember.

Noel Brown vs. Dios X
- Dios got blown up, which led to Brown popping off and a bonus match later on.

Fanatiq vs. Clockw0rk
- Very close set with Fanatiq getting to 3-1 (or was it 3-2? Can't remember) very early on until Clock switched his team order from Strider on point to Doom. Clock then came all the way back.

Viscant vs. fLoE
- Floe showed signs of victory, but Viscant's Wesker game was too solid. Wesker + Dark Phoenix was too much for Floe, and Viscant bodied him.

Filipino Champ vs. Justin Wong
- AMAZING set which should be searched for immediately in the archives. Justin's Iron Fist/Storm/Akuma team steamrolled Champ due to Champ's inexperience against Iron Fist, and he got PERFECTED in one match. Extremely hype.

BONUS MATCH: Knives vs. Noel Brown
- After Brown's match he started talking all that good shit, and Knives challenged him to a $100 money match. Things looked bleak for knives at first, but Knives turned it around after one match and beasted on Brown. The crowd being into this one helped it a ton. After Brown lost the set, he said that the set "didn't count since it wasn't an official match."

Combofiend vs. MaRN
- Marn occasionally came close to winning during each match, but Combo was too much. Not only did Combo go 5-0, but the set-ending move was a BIONIC ARRRRRRRRRM.

Mike Ross vs. Jago
- The main event, as hyped as the crowd was, was a bit of a letdown for the West Coast. Ross was playing like doo-doo and got exposed like he was on Jerry Springer. Afterwards, the crowd was so salty, people were demanding Jago's head and demanded he play Combofiend for redemption. Jago declined, saying that he showed up to play Ross - and he did - and had no intention of playing anybody else. After about 15 minutes of talking, everyone finally reached a compromise and Jago played Knives.

BONUS MATCH: Knives vs. Jago
- Jago's team was on point here, and he was able to shut down a lot of Knives' offense. Knives started making a comeback, but dropped combos ended up losing him the set.

I'm a bit tired, but this is what I remember.

- Very close set with Fanatiq getting to 3-1 (or was it 3-2? Can't remember) very early on until Clock switched his team order from Strider on point to Doom. Clock then came all the way back.

Was 3-1 before the team change. Then he pulled off 4 straight to take it.

I think Mike Ross really suffered from a lack of Trish knowledge. He appeared pretty clueless which dragged down his whole game.

I hope we see more events like this. It'd be nice if they could get enough money to make cross country rivalries easier to accommodate.

https://twitter.com/#!/ThatMikeRossGuy/status/146129772718735361<-- Ross talks about the match
Shout outs to Combofiend for being the true fraud out of him, Jago and Mike Ross.

What a disappointing ending.

4dnpb.gif

- Mike Ross and Combofiend (mostly Mike Ross) calls Jago a fraud.
- Jago shot back at both.
- Combofiend belittles him, but throws Mike Ross at him. (Note: The famous football/baby line)
- Jago calls Mike Ross a "fraud" and Combofiend a "dodger."
- Bar Fights 3 happens; Jago raped Mike Ross. Free.
- As much as Combofiend loves to "avenge" Mike Ross, he didn't against Jago, because apparently Jago was dodging him.
- While Combofiend is know for having a mouth, he actually shuts up for once, while the crowd chants for [Jago vs. Combofiend].
- Jago hesitates like a coward, for once, but eventually sat down, ready to play.
- Combofiend calls for his private jet, then flees like Suicune; while crowd boos and chant his name.
- Instead, salty West Coast throws Knives (who is totally better than both Mike Ross and Combofiend for getting wins against him) at Jago, who he destroys.

I saw the whole thing, yo.
Marvel vs. Capcom 3 made some niggas soft as shit, man.

I'm salty at Jago for saying "he's too good" (although, we don't know if he was actually being sarcastic, remember he's said Combofiend is good at "Dodging Me, Motherfucker," a great game actually) and Combofiend for not talking shit like he was doing at Cross Counter Live on the mic, to pressure Jago to fight, in order to either "Avenge" or "Expose" West Coast.

Long live, #eFights.

so is being wrong only a hobby or are we past that point?

Meh...
I'm just mad that I didn't get to see more blow-ups, because I predicted "Combofiend would play against Jago after Policing Mike Ross" and I was wrong. :(

However, at least Jago stayed and played two matches against WC players and won. Making them thrice as NaCl.

Are you sure you want to add KingofSarus to your ignore list?

Yes.

Do it.

Like I care.

God damn, the end of that stream was stupid. So is it egos or sponsorships that are making people act like little bitches? That ending left a bad taste in my mouth. Too much politics; it shouldn't require a 15 minute debate to get a couple guys to play another dozen minutes of a video game.

I know that Mike Ross drama was super fuckin legit. BUT I'D ALSO LIKE TO REMIND ALL OF YOU THAT THE POPEYES KFC DRAMA IS ALSO SUPER LEGIT. THIS TUESDAY. IT'S GOING DOWN.

It's a huge controversy.
It's going to be talked about for a while, unless some shit is resolved at SoCal Regionals.

Until then, we got a week of blue balls.

Nonsense wrapped in bullshit covered in ignorance
<CaliPower> jago played combofiend a lot already at the comboratory
<CaliPower> jago got rushed the fuck down
<CaliPower> to the point
<CaliPower> he concedes
<CaliPower> so theres no way hes comfortable losing that bad in public
<CaliPower> bad match
<BasedTubo> why didnt they just play?
<CaliPower> because it would be a lopsided match
<CaliPower> not entertaining
<CaliPower> combofiend didnt want to play a guy that admits defeat
<CaliPower> hes not like that
<CaliPower> combofiend took jagos soul already
