Supposedly there are 9 different ways a hitter gets on base. I can't think of all of them, me and my friends could only think of like 7. This refers to how a hitters gets on (hit, walk, etc., etc.). Do you know them all?

walk, balk, hit by pitch, 3 strikes but ball gets by catcher (forgot the name for this), error, fielders choice, single, double, triple. yeah i cheated there at the end.

That is a dropped third strike

Balk is not one of them, and you forgot about catchers interference(Craig Counsell gets on this way at least twice a game)

1)Single
2)double
3)triple
4)walk
5)hit by a pitch
6)struck out but ball dropped by catcher
7)error
8)catcher interference
9)fielder's choice.

Got help from mah boy worldrunover.

single
double
triple
homerun
fielder's choice
walk
dropped third strike
error
hit-by-pitch

That's 9. (Guess a homerun doesn't count as "on-base") Catcher Interference it is then.

The correct answer is 8 different ways.

1) Hit
2) Walk
3) Error
4) Fielders Choice
5) Hit by Pitch
6) Catchers Interference
7) Strikeout (advance by either dropped ball, or wild pitch - scored the same for the batter though)
8) Obstruction (fielders interference, preventing the runner from reaching first. Think of holding the guy so he can't run, or intentionally blocking his way.)

Obstruction! Absolutely...

There's 9 for you.

Then substitute double and triple with intentional walk and bunt base hit.

I don't think you are understanding. A bunt base hits counts as a hit in the scoring regardless. An intentional walk is a type of walk. We aren't talking about the seperate types of EACH hit, walk, etc.

And yeah I read up on it, there's 8, 9 if you count the two seperate types of 3rd strike reaches.
