I just finished Batman Beyond for the first time, and my god, season two was just plain awful. Seasons one was good, season three was OK for the most part, but season two was just terrible. It dropped the overarching rivalry between Blight and Terry (which it never bothered to pick up again, even in season three), it introduced new villains almost every episode only to forget they existed the very next episode, and it focused way too much on meaningless high school stories.
I've watched Batman:TAS, Superman:TAS, JL and JLU, parts of Teen Titans and Static Shock, and nearly every DC animated movie there is (even the ones that came out before the new WB Premiere line of movies).
But Batman Beyond season two is just the worst. This image I think sums it up best:
Why is Batman carrying a surprised egg on his backpack? Because of some bullshit high school thing of course!
(Tangentially related: in the Batman Beyond movie and in the JLU crossover there are these enemies--a scarecrow type guy, a hyena, two Harley Quinn-esque twins that can clone themselves, among others--that are always treated as established villains to Terry. They're never in the show though--is there something I'm missing where they get introduced?)
