Battlefield 2 GONE GOLD!

well, imo, if it wouldve been that heavy to run, ea wouldve waited an extra month untill the new cads are out... i could be wrong

if it does run like shit on my system ill just get an x360 and play it on that? cheaper then upgrading my gpu anyway :)

I dont think the 360 Version is the same game as BF2 on the PC. I reckon it'll be a prettied up EA port of the Battlefield: Modern Combat also coming out for PS2/Xbox in Q4.

yep my mistake.

100 according to futureshop

In Battlefield 2, players will choose to fight for one of three military superpowers: The United States, Chinese, or the newly formed Middle East Coalition. Armed with the latest modern weaponry, players can take control of any of the game's 30+ vehicles to engage in major conflicts with over 100 players in some of the largest online battles on the PC. Additionally, persistent character growth allows players to rise through the ranks and attain the ultimate rank of General.

futureshop is wrong, its only 64. thats not really a bad thing though, as i dont see many stable 64-player servers being around, much less 100

can hardly wait for this. woot. i will be playing this game for a very long time to come, considering i'm still addicted to 1942 and V.

IIRC, the game will support 100 players. But EA isnt going to run any 100 player servers or somethin...

Either way, I dont care. I aint ever even gonna play in a 64 player server.

Id imagine an ATI card would be the "recommended"(endorsed) card for this game.

Unless the plan changes, you are correct.

I'll ask again...What's the reccomended graphics card for Battlefield 2?

if you dont even know what videocard (witch is usually an important selling point for a pc gamer) came in your comp, chances are they threw in a low end one.
you can easily check what card you have without opening the case you know
As for whats recommended... i imagine it would run best on an 6800ultra sli setup or an 850xt-pe crossfire setup.

as long as the netcode isn't the horrible, horrible mess of the original then there is no way this game will disappoint. just going by the vids it looks like the new engine is up to par with other current shooters

I know what graphics card it is, I just can't remember...It's an Nvidia...God dammit, it's a word followed by a number...I knew it like a month ago. Regarldess I need to get a new one.

Oh man, I would be so totally effed trying to play BF2 on my current setup:

P4 2.53
Asus P4B-533 m/b
1 GB RAM generic PC2100
Radeon 9500 Pro
WD 1600JB 160 GB 7200 RPM HD
Hercules Fortissimo III 7.1

However...

I'm putting together a new PC this week:

A64 3700+ San Diego core (1 MB cache)
MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum m/b
1 GB OCZ Gold 2-2-2-5
Leadtek 6800GT
WD Raptor 74GB 10,000 RPM HD
SB Audigy 2 ZS

:D

However...

I am fucking broke now. :(

Great.. I LOVE BF42, but never could get it to run well on my PC.

All of EAs stuff is never optimised to run well. Always resource hogs.

But dammit, I'll upgrade to play this

Good thing I got these today

Let us know how those things sound Cogent. I use some Ratshack headphones right now. They actually sound pretty good; but you can hear way too much background noise.

I don't want to hear my idiot friends while I'm PC gaming. :lol

Yeah, I'm really hoping that they clean things up. BF42 was fun, but there were enough things wrong with it to make it pretty irritating at times, with the screwy aiming being the biggest offender.

Of course, if they do manage to get it right this time, that means that I'll have to upgrade practically every part of my computer to even meet the minimum specs, so I'm actually somewhat hopeful that they screw it up :). I'd be perfectly happy to wait until Spore comes out to finally upgrade.
