It's really good but it's glitchy and EA sucks (sitting through 15 logo intros plus asstastic server finding tools makes it suck even more.

Still, a lot of fun though.

I don't know a thing about this game; what does Battlefield 2 play like? Is it part of EA's Battlefield 1942 series? More realistic FPS action like Ghost Recon?

What's it like? :) Better yet, what's the best place to DL the demo from. :D

Yep, I wasn't considering buying this game until I tried the demo. Fuck it is awesome (god damn I wish I could get out of doing shit with the missus today so I can play it :()

Is this thread supposed to be sarcastic? What with the corny picture of the guy walking on air...
Maybe it's just the contrast of this monitor... but isn't one foot set firmly on the ground while the other is in the air? I mean... he is running isn't he?

EDIT: MAF... have you improved at all? :lol

God dammit you people are making me that much angrier that the game wont download on my comp for some crazy reason!

I mean I didnt download it, all 500+ MB of it, yet when you click on the file it wont set up! DAMN YOU FILE!

Buying this. I hope they fix the sound issues becase its really grating and i dont know what anyone is saying.

I'll wait before i get a headset or mic.

You can delete the logos from the EAGAMES\Battlefield 2 Demo\Mods\BF2\Movies directory to skip them. Keep the bg menu & noise ones though. The only bugs I've experienced so far are the server screen and the HW sound thing (my shitty Audigy LS I gather). Seriously, this is like one of the least buggy demos I've ever seen. The previous two BF games were a nightmare at release time and pretty much needed immediate patching.

Uh, the commander mode and squads?
I tried the commander mode. Didn't impress me that much. Basically, it's shooting artillery and issuing orders people won't follow, right? Do people really follow orders? They didn't seem to follow mine, at all. And squads? Well, pretty much every server I went on had like ONE squad filled up with people, and that was pretty much it.

And yes. Getting this game for sure.

Play with people you know :) ALOT more fun.

This game pwns.

They listened to me in commander mode... and congratulated me when we won :). So satisfying! Of course, I had 4 full squads at my disposal and one guy who kept repairing the artillery when it got damaged. It was beautiful.

Believe me, it's going to be EXTREMELY powerful in the right hands during a clan match.

Can't wait to get some games happening with my clan.

Uh, I did that and the game wouldn't boot up at all.

How's the game run? I'd love to get it but I'm worried my computer wouldn't handle it too well.

Umm.. did you leave menu.bik, menu_loggedin.bik & noise.bik? Cause I deleted everything but those and the game boots right into the login screen.

*Sorry, didn't mention the noise file.. but I didn't think anyone would delete it, cause it kinda doesn't sound like the names of any of the intro screens. Actually, it's probably the noise/static at the login screen.

Yup left all those and the game won't boot, so it doesn't work for everyone.

I see no reason why it wouldn't.. it's been a documented thing for all the previous BF games. Sorry. :O

EDIT: I hope you don't have to re-download the game.. if you still have the install you can probably extract them from the compressed file. A reinstall is just as easy I guess. :P

Squads are limited to 6 players per.

Yeah, if you see a list of like 12 people it means that they're NOT in a squad. The commander has no way of giving them orders or communicating with them. People who don't join squads are stupid.

Looks like it's planted on this air to me. Or he's in the middle of a really stiff, crappy running animation.

Either way, it just reminded me of the days when Morphix used to carpetbomb BF1942 threads with pictures of the game's many glitches and bugs.

just got off a 4 hour go, joined a squad for the first time and it opened up a whole new element to the game. :)

Dice have done well.

Just got done playing some of the demo myself.

This is reminding me of Tribes: Good, but incredible if people use teamwork. Sadly, it's hard to enforce that in pub servers.

I have a question.

There are no ammo or health supplies laying around. So how do you get the commander to drop you a supply, and how do you get a medic to fix you up?

In the old Battlefield, there were F1, F2, etc. keys that let you issue commands. I don't see that here.

You didn't even play it border boy. :lol
Play it now!

hold Q

I played as Commander a while ago and it was AWESOME. Zoom in all the way and you have a 3D overhead map of all the action and can see enemy troops running around for artillery attacks. Commander mode is AWESOME.

Well you can get the demo for yourself and see. I'm guessing you'd be running at medium-low details(probably medium) quite well.

If you want your commander give you supplies or somthing else, join a squad or make one first. :)
Then you can use "t" to do it.

Get medic or ammo press "q".

My specs running the demo at lowest settings

2.0 GHZ
1 GB ram
Nvidia GeForce 5700 Ultra

I tested running the game at highest settings in single player, too choppy for me.
I guess I'll try to change around some low settings to medium and see whats up. Also buying this game.

Any game that requires a new keyboard is a no-go to me. Anyways, the game is cool, I'll try it some more when I get more time.

It doesn't require the keyset. The keyset just makes things easier.

Restored the files. Wouldn't boot.

Uninstalled/reinstalled the demo, wouldn't boot.

Whatever you do, DO NOT delete the movie files or you'll fuck up the demo so you can't play anymore.

I am so fucking pissed right now. Uninstalled/reinstalled the demo 3 times and still cannot play it after what pestul recommended to do with the videos. FUCK.
