Battlefield 3 premium, unlocks dlc access early

Have you played Battlefield 2?

They have been doing these expansions for a while now.

Are they eventually going to give away most of the expansions for BF3 for free? I somehow doubt that.

How much time would a small team (say 5 people) of programmers need to fix the M26 Dart glitch? It's more than a month already, and all they do is announce DLCs...

Pay to delay it for those who don't pay? No thanks. Doubt that's what's gonna attract the ones who'll splurge for this thing. EA will surely do the usual season pass thing and offer the whole suite of DLC at a $10 discount. Then they'll sneak in their EAish things on the side like this. "Well I don't really care about that, but this discount is pretty cool." And then before you know it your games own you.

It's a lot more complicated than you think, in terms of the work involved. Console patches alone cost 30-50K to go through MS/Sony certification (testing) process as well.

Goddamn those fans who want more content. I mean, I get that perpetuating this model is a side effect of purchasing it, but do you really think those interested are going to ask themselves those kind of moral questions before reaching for their wallet?

I agree that it is a potentially dubious business model, and isn't something I want to see more of, but to say, "it's the gamers fault" is not only utterly disingenuous, it's downright insulting.

It would cost a lot of money if they wanted to patch it for the 360. They'll hopefully include it with the update for the Close Quarters stuff. I dont have nearly as many problems with it as others do, though. Even on Metro.

I'll probably wait it out on this one.

I'm not particularly crazy about the "theme-focused" DLCs they're proposing. I rather have good maps with varieties, instead of forced close-quarters/vehicle focused maps 24/7.

Now, if they were to make more bc2 expansions...they can take all my money and have free fries on the side.

One of the what now? If you were going to say best, ArmA II is still a better FPS, and has a far better single player, co-op, and multiplayer mechanics.

One of the best doesn't mean the best.

So cool, you named one FPS that's better. You didn't disprove his statement at all

That's a shitty excuse for them to use.

Which they already used with the last patch I guess. The PC patch was ready for quite a while but they didn't want to release it before the console versions...

I'll wait to see the price on this "service" since I'll probably end up buying the DLC. The stock maps in BF3 are a bit crap imo but the B2K remakes are awesome, I've yet to get worn out on those and I'd be willing to pay for more BF2 remakes.

I feel like EA/DICE's need to play catchup with Call of Duty ELITE is a little late, at this point.

They've done a great job to support the community with great patches, in my opinion. But, at this point, who's still even playing this and will buy this stuff? I'm guessing there's a healthy audience still playing on PC, but I'd imagine it's really started to calm down on consoles, in terms of peak active users.

If I knew all of this stuff was going to happen sooner, I wouldn't have gotten rid of my copy of the game. Even so, now I'm tempted to wait to buy a "Complete Edition" with all of the DLC bundled on the disc(s) with the main game, if it ever happens.

It just seems very ass-backwards to me. Where was the news of this at release? I know people would bitch and complain about them nickle and diming the consumer, but at least say you're planning ____ to come out __ months down the line and I would've been cool with that -- it'd give something to look forward to. It was just B2K (B2K was rad, however) and that was it. Now it seems like this was a reactionary move to the success of COD ELITE and their model.
it's been steady at #4 on the XBL activity list until last week, when it dropped to #5 due to MineCraft. dunno about PS3, but i assume that's a similar story...

I find it funny how many people complain about this. It's purely cosmetic stuff, not unlocks.

In BF2 it was much worse, but of course everyone has forgotten about that. If you didn't buy BF2 Special Forces you would be unable to use a ton of weapons that others could in the same match

For all the problems with this game it's still the best multiplayer shooter around. No other game has even tried to do what BF3 does and succeeded.

They get the DLC "early", which is to say, everyone else gets it at a later date. That's what everyone is complaining about.

I'm so sorry, but DICE got me by the balls, I have to fund them, too much fun I have with their games =/

Hopefully reasonably priced

Please be $39.99 or less, Please be $39.99 or less, Please be $39.99 or less, Please be $39.99 or less, Please be $39.99 or less

No Whammy!... No Whammy!... No Whammy!... No Whammy!... No Whammy!... No Whammy!... No Whammy!... No Whammy!... No Whammy!... No Whammy!... (Means $50+)

It's probably a week early like PS3 users. I doubt it would be that much earlier since they actually have to have it finished first.

It could have been 1 day for all I care. This isn't something that's benefiting them, it's something that's a drawback for everyone else.

Dude you need to play with us more often.

The idea of "premium" might be okay depending on the prize, gifts, etc. we will get. Only the early access doesn't interest me. Yes I like playing a game/DLC on PS3 before PC/360 users do (but it is not that I care much about it) but playing before the rest of my home console doesn't seem like valuable to me. I mean I prefer having full servers and more choice with whom I can play instead of playing early and alone.

Early access is very interesting to me. Being able to learn the maps before people who don't purchase the pack gives me a leg up on them, which will hopefully lead to more wins for me.

Trophy Addiction kicked back in =/

I have literally, not fucking joking, 35+ titles I got to play through before July Starts, was gonna devote summer to RPG goodness

I have Prince of Persia Collection (3 platinums), Jak Collection (3 platinums), Prototype 2, Iron Man 2, De Blob 2, finish up DLC for Ass Creed Bro + POP 2008 [Epilogue], then comes the pain of PSN games, 10+ I own, 15+ through PSN+

I need to clone myself somehow
Every time I put in BF3, I play a few days then one game with randoms pisses me off so much, I say fuck it, back to the backlog hell you go!

Totally buying this. I'll end up getting all the expansions anyway, why not just have a few extra perks thrown in to? Love me some BF3.

Buying content for one of my favorite games, is a problem? Lol.
I'd rather pay $10 more and not support a premium service by EA.

So it's pay to delay it for those who don't pay, to get an advantage. You're making it sound scummier.

Valid point but I don't care much about it - it would take me not weeks (assuming) but rather months to have a serious advantage. In general I dislike the pay money for an edge over others approach many F2P games have. I don't mind unlocking weapons through money instead of skill but it would really piss me off if you could get "better" weapons through paying only. If that means premium I bail out or scrap together the money depending on the game :)

I'll buy it for the right price. At that price is $30.

It'll end up being $50. So I probably won't be getting it, but I can see a little value to it. I enjoy the game.

Damn EA/Dice aren't even ashamed to blatantly rip off Activ's Elite model lol. but i like this. This is how competition forces better products. BF3 is the best FPS i've played on the ps3 so far.

Assuming it's a bit of a discount, I'll get this day one most likely. There just aren't any other FPS on consoles that interest me, and there probably won't be until the next BF is announced. So with that said, I will continue to play BF3 for the next year or more. Naturally I want more content, and if I can pay once instead of several times, and there's at least a small discount, I'll happily take this route.

Same herT, but the only way Im buying this is if all the details for the DLCs get announced beforehand and if the price is cheaper then buying it separately.
