Batwoman - Teaser Trailer

I dig the cape effect. I’ll prob find the show too full of cringe to properly enjoy. Wish this show was on DC-flix. The more mature nature of the character and universe would be better represented on DC’s own streaming service.

Why the deep red color on Barbara? Couldn't they just either find a ginger or at least dye the hair orange? TrainedRage TrainedRage will feel offended over this sham, this crime against humanity perpetrated against gingers. It'll burn like ether on his non-existent soul.

Better than the Harley Quinn/Birds of Prey teaser, at least?

Wow, I must've missed this one and what a terrible teaser. When I think of Birds of Prey, I think of the 2002 series.

I wonder if it holds up or if it aged terrible and we were happy with getting superhero license series at all.

I'm up to the year where (I think) Arrow was on season 5, Flash on season 3, Supergirl on season 2 and League of Legends on season 2 as well.
Is it worth catching up on the CW-verse?

I sort of took a hiatus from the shows when the Supergirl show changed her sister into a gay character. It seemed like that's what defined her and became her character trait. Do things get back on track? Does her sister become a proper character again? Do the other shows become propaganda?

Dont know if you're joking. But this isn't Barbara, this is Kate Kane. Her hair is a wig.

Surprisingly I'm not. First thing I thought reading your post was "Who is Kate Kane?" and it seems my millennial status is showing, as I read and watched DC when I was younger between 93 and 04, where a Kate Kane didn't exist as far as I know (and where I only knew about Barbara and Cassandra as far as I remember). Which lead me to assume that they had decided to ditch the Batgirl name (like they should ditch Superboy, unless the character is an actual kid. I'm a bit conflicted though as I like the Supergirl name more than Superwoman) and give us a Barbara series (or perhaps some Cassandra redesign). But nope, apparently old golden age character completely remade around 2006, with the design approach of: "The modern Batwoman is written as being of Jewish descent and as a lesbian in an effort by DC editorial staff to diversify its publications and better connect to modern-day readership." per Wikipedia. I've heard DC's writing has usually been on point, in contrast to Marvel's (which hurts me as I'm a marvel guy foremost), but that kinda remark usually ends up as a red flag to me in regards to whether I can expect anything interesting from the character. Might still be great, but the summary on Wikipedia felt a bit meh.

Honestly, not having Barbara makes it feel less interesting to me. Barbara always had an interesting position in the universe (even more so becoming Oracle, which was always a great way of bringing Barbara back) and a lot of interesting developments, so a new character I don't know severely impacts the draw of the series. The costume just looks like a typical 90s-00s movie Batman costume with Batman Beyond inspiration in the color scheme. Might watch the first couple of episodes, but not expecting much, though that might work in its benefit.

Flash and Arrow are ok, only mild stuff you can roll your eyes at.
Supergirl just kept away from it.

Why are people complaining about this? The character is Katherine Kane. The costume colors are spot on with the comics:

Ah, Batwoman, still rocking the same ugly costume. Too bad there's no fantastic artwork to make it look good IRL. Lol people think that's Barbara? She's never been Batwoman in her entire career as a vigilante on screen and in comic books.

Will watch, but seriously Titans has risen the bar so far for this Batman-related superheroes that I don't see CW being able to match it.
Not to mention it's CW. Their cities suck donkey balls. Star City or Central City might survive being canadian town. Gotham can not. Not after Gotham on FOX and what Titans shown.

Do you mean "ok" as in the shows are ok to watch and there is barely any propaganda or do you mean the shows are "ok" as in they are generally ok shows in terms of story/characters and not good or great?
Is that question confusing?

The only one I still watch is Flash. So many things to watch, so little time.
One day I'll watch the rest of Legends (1 season behind) and Arrow (2 seasons behind). For now, I just watch these shows when it's crossover time.
For Supergirl, i've only watched about 5 or 6 from the first season and stopped.
As for this show, I won't even give it a shot, didn't quite like it on the crossover and again, there's no time.

They are ok to watch, characters are already established with minor PC stuff.
Which can be overlooked.
Quality of the shows degrades as you get up to date.
But there's an occasional good episode or decent story line that pops up.

I didn't realize so many people hate Kate Kane, I thought she had some good stories going on, but I generally lIke Greg Rucka's stuff (Gotham Central was also great). She looks spot on, but it's a CW show, I have no confidence that it'll be good.
Also Batwoman is not Batgirl.

The cape was made to look dramatically big in the teaser just for coolness sake. It's pretty obvious...

I didn't mind the crossover, but Jesus Christ, the pilot looks bad:

Cringe-inducing female-power stuff without the humor that took edge of it in SUpergirl. And it looks so damn cheap. Not just compared to how awesome Titans and Gotham looked, but even Arrow and Flash looked bigger-budget than this and they didn't have iconic city as a backtrop.
The city likely won't improve, but I hope the rest of the show will be better than this. Upfronts trailer tend to be sucky.

The suit will be perfect when it's made for a woman?
yeeesh

I have a lot of CW shows to catch up on before I get to this so I can wait and see how it turns out. Maybe only the first episode is about dissing Batman and the rest will be fine.
