Bayonetta out on Steam (4K, dual audio), $19.99, PC launch trailer, dev diary

Is there no chance of this ever happening with Bayonetta 2?

Did Nintendo actually get credited in its development? Or was it more like when Sony helps bring games to console?

I'm hoping for the latter.

no chance other than sega purchasing the game back from nintendo, which would be unheard of

Bayonetta sitting at 30k for day one.. on Steamspy. Of course that number will not be 100% accurate as we haven't passed the 3 day mark yet.

I hope word of mouth keeps this games sales chugging along for a while yet. It's an amazing game that deserves to do Nier: Automata levels of success.

Crashes changing resolution. Ok, most games do this in the first time I launch then. Annoying but I more or less got used to it.

But then screen goes black during gameplay (not crash, sound and controls still working)....

I wonder how long it will take to have something that just works on PC.
That's not normal at all. I can't remember any game in years that crashes on a resolution change. Some games might require a restart, but they shouldn't crash.

Also, no one else in the thread has reported having that problem as far as I'm aware, so I think it "just works on PC" for many people. :P

Hmm, better than Lost World for sure then. Worse than Valkyria though. But of course, SteamSpy lowballs like hell for the first week.

It is an old game, that has had multiple releases. I don't think it will do as well as Automata.

As an update, I have found what was causing the massive performance drops on Ryzen.
Full details are available in this post.

fixedonettab6b2q.png

The game is now running at a perfect 60 FPS with this fix.

Does this also work for non-Ryzen AMD CPUs?
I don't know.
I would think that they are not using HPET by default, as it was only the Ryzen Master software which enabled it on my system.
I don't think there should be any issues with changing that setting on a non-Ryzen system to see if it helps.
Deleting the value using the code I posted should be fine.
If that does not work, you could try forcibly disabling HPET with this command:
Code:
BCDEdit /set useplatformclock false
However you do so at your own risk.

I don't think this should make any difference for Intel systems unless you have forcibly enabled HPET yourself, and even then I don't recall ever having issues like that with my i5-2500K.
EDIT: Just tried manually enabling it on my 2500K system and it killed performance there too. Seems like having HPET enabled on any system might be the cause of this.

I have drops with a i7 7700.

Oh well, this joins LIGHTNING RETURNS: FINAL FANTASY XIII, as games that I wanted to play but won't play thanks to their performance.

There's way too much stuttering.

CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2320 CPU @ 3.00GHz (4 CPUs), ~3.0GHz
GPU: Radeon 6870

I've dropped all of the settings down to low (or off) and I'm still getting a garbage frame-rate just walking around the first couple chapters.

I get stutters with my i5-3450 as well :( I know it's below recommended spec, but still.

Really wish I'd sprung for the 3570k all those years ago, I'm so ready to toss this CPU in the garbage. It seems all at once a bunch of games require too much CPU power for my rig. A year ago everything was fine.

I went borderless full screen + rtss. Didn't drop all through Ch2. I did notice however that after a 30fps cutscene it takes 3-5 second for the fps to go back up to 60, it's annoying when there's a battle right after one.

Nier: Automata started at 30k-ish as well, and it ended up 200k in less than 2 weeks.

We really can't tell at this point, still too early.

Testing Reshade + 8xSSGGAA at 1080p..not sure if i set up the SSGGAA right though. I followed the image someone posted.

E: this is at 1800p downsampled to 1080p with Reshade smaa...

Loving the performance of this game so far. got cranked up all the way with 4K and 2x SGSSAA. Game also runs pretty well at 5120x2880 without SGSSAA.

Do the bits allow for any other AA? What's less taxing than SGSSAA.?

GTX 970, it happens when I walk around, but not during fights.

edit: 1440p, no SGSSAA or anything changed in nvidia inspector, just the stock game.
That's very odd. What operating system? If Windows 10, creator's update? (Oops, I see you addressed that.) Have you tried disabling MSAA ingame (since it doesn't work)?

Do you run any background utilities of any sort?

Unless it's really the resolution, I wonder why these differing results are happening. I guess you could try running at 1080p just to be sure it's not the resolution.

I only had Afterburner/RTSS and Geforce Experience (to record the video) open, these drops happen at 720p low settings too.

Weirdly, borderless fullscreen reduced them a lot, but there are a few every now and then.

It's useless to try to analyze steamd
Spy data right now, give it some days more. That said I'm pretty sure it's already over 100k easily.

Well the good thing is, 720p low still having drops suggests it's not performance and should be fixable.

Unless the drops are so small that I don't notice them and Fraps doesn't show them below 59, it runs basically perfect for me...BUT I was playing Windows 64-bit home premium. So there may be complications related to Windows 10.

Got it from bundlestars since thats the same place I got a few games like rocket league when cheaper then steam.

Sadly working tonight, will play in morning yay

I played for about half an hour and it's looking very good, and a lot of fun. Sadly, I have very little time right now, and I want to finish Nier: Automata first. I have a week of vacation coming up though, so I'm looking forward to playing both games then.

I am having the same symptoms you described with an i7 920 and an RX 480. I will try this and see if it helps me too.

Since the in game MSAA don't work, you can force MSAA with this bit 0x00001241 and turn AA Fix on in nvidia inspector for better quality. Not as good as SGSSAA, but less blurry and way less taxing. You can try msaa + trssaa as well, don't know if it works though. Source 1 | Source 2

You can also skip the SEGA, Platinum and the opening intro by renaming or deleting B_US_0000.sfd (SEGA video) PlatinumGames.sfd and syukyaku_A.sfd (intro video) in this folder Steam\steamapps\common\Bayonetta\data\movie
Still have the CRI intro but better than nothing.

I got steady 60fps with the 970, i5 4590 (?) and 16ram on win7 at 1440p, everything is maxed exempt antialiasing that is off. Good port is good.

Anyone else suffering from framedrops in the church boss fight?

If you mean the second fight with Fortitudo where one head is stuck in a wall, it's one of the more demanding scenes due to all the alpha effects going on. Same with the main fight with Fortitudo (Ch 4) when he shoots the fireballs.
