So you're confirming 99%+ BC on X360? Because uh, Sony confirmed full BC (98%+), so they obviously know how they're getting the job done.

Yeah I know we're gonna go from 98% compatability to less than 50%.

No, seriously. They already confirmed during E3 with POWERPOINT that PS3 will be BC with "10,000 games", so while it won't be every one I'm counting on a 95% BC rate. You keep hoping/thinking/speculating though, I will too.

If PS3 ruins BC worse than 360 ruined it, I'll be fucking pissed.

The reason why i think PS3 might not have a high number is that they are going to have to emulate it, and that is just difficult. More power to them if they hit 98%.

Weren't there rumors that there are issues with PS3's backwards compatability not too long ago (like a week or so ago)?

I don't honestly know. I'm sure even element knows more about PS3 insides than I do.

I'm only going off from what we know. BC is an extremely important aspect of PlayStation branding, and at E3 they had the powerpoint that said "10,000 games BC with PS3", from PSX/PS2. That implies near 100%.

If there's problems, I can see it being less than 98%. But if it's <85%, I'm going to be pissed.

emulation of a x86 and DX chip on a RISC and DX chip should be much easier then custom CPU and custom GPU on a RISC and DX chip.

I think it's a matter of focus. Sony simply thinks BC is more important than Microsoft is judging from emphasis, and so they're more likely to work harder to get those 90%+ BC rating. Again, if not, I'd be shocked. If it's less than 85%, I'll just shake my head with SHAME.

Anyway, I'll give it a round number. 160 Xbox games BC with 360.

Yup. Sony is going to have a really tough time unless they throw in a full chipset.

So you know how they are going to do it on PS3? (assuming the advantage you are talking about is X360's ability to play supported BC games in 720p and with AA)

As far as secrecy goes, Microsoft is like Nintendo except minus the logic.

I'll go out on a limb and say that ALL First party Microsoft games ARE BACKWARDS COMPATIBLE with the Xbox 360. Further more, Xbox 1 saves from your HDD will work on the Xbox 360.

Don't really know if I should drop the bombs on the others. Let's just say our favorite Ninja will kick ass in higher definition.

How would you transfer them?
 
I guessed 80 a couple weeks ago, but based on the verbal smirks from Element and Blim, I'm now guessing 250 (which I guess is appx 33%).
