Current beard. I'd grow it longer but not sure if my boss would approve. But who knows.

My current beard is massive/dense as fuck. I'm applying the NHL playoff beard philosophy to my last finals of my bachelor degree, which are this week. I don't even remember the last time I trimmed it, but come noon Friday, hair will fly.

I just shaved my beard down from a 4" to ¼" on my trimmer (looks like Rei-Toei's now). Feels really weird, but I like that clean-cut scruff look.

But always shave the neck at the jawline. Neck beards gets hella itchy. Also, if you're worried about feeling like less of a man by shaving, buy yourself a nice badger brush and a straight razor to shave with.

My philosophy is that if you can grow a beard, always grow a beard. Not every man is graced with the ability to do so, so embrace your minority manhood.

Anyone use the beard oil from Prospector Co.? I need something to soften things up a bit. I've got a good length going, need some inspiration to make sure I don't shave it all off on a shitty whim.

The mustache is my favorite part. Long at the ends and tapers in, above the lip line. Wife seems to have accepted it, I've been bearded since Nov., growing continuously since Jan.

Fuck. I'd kill for a beard like that

Damn, it is a rare day I am envious of a beard, but that day is today. Nice work mate!

Edit: Everyone on this page looks real good, nice work lads.

Thanks guys.

I've had my beard for the better part of the last 6 years. Pretty much since my sophomore year in college. I shaved it off once for a wedding and another time just for the fun of it. It's always been mixed reactions from the people I know. Most of my friends (especially the guys who can't grow a beard) love my beard and always encourage me to let it grow as long as possible. A few of my girl friends like/love it, but there are always some that say I should shave it and that it's hiding my face. Same with my family, most of the guys like it, but my mother and grandmother are always dropping subtle and not so subtle hints that they want me to shave it off, or at least keep it very short and neat.

In the end, I love my beard. I enjoy trimming and shaping it. Maybe down the road i'll shave it off and start fresh, but for now it is here to stay :)

For everyone who cannot grow one, whether it be you physically can't or work restrictions.. I grow my beard for you.

I had an unfortunate incident with my beard trimmer a just over a week ago - I didn't put the trimmer guard on properly, and it fell off mid-trim and gouged a chunk out my beard. I was forced to get rid of my entire beard, all the way back down to stubble. :(

Instead of mourning my beard, I'm going to celebrate the new one and chronicle its progress here, for all of BeardGAF to see!

This is today, about 9 days after the unfortunate beard trimmer incident. I started from stubble, not clean shaven, so it's close to 2 weeks of growth. Not too bad, but I'm looking forward to at least getting my regular length back, then growing a nice winter beard from there.

Bumpity bump. My winter beard on a nice sunny day, representing for all the gingers lol :) A bit shaggy, time for a bit of a proper trim I think.

Hows your progress coming on?

I've kept facial hair one way or another for about 6 or 7 years now. When clean shaven I kinda look like someone's aunt.

BeardGAF, once my beard thickens and gets long, it starts to curl and kink wildly. Any suggestions to get it smooth and straight and luxurious?

Back at yat :)
Some beautiful beards in here.
Yes there are, some fine facial hair.

Don't have any great advice there sorry, my beard is just sort of straightish with a big curl to the left. Looks like an apostrophe if I'm not careful lol.

I'm shaving my cheeks. Grows very little to even give a crap about it. :/

Bought a clipper or whatever those are called. They're great.

Well I decided to get started early on my winter beard. Haven't shaved for over a week, and while the goatee part of it is alright in my opinion, my cheeks are another matter, very patchy and slow to fill in.

Just bad facial hair genes. My dad sports a hell of a mustache and has a five o'clock shadow by three, so my mom's genes must've fucked things up. I'll keep trucking until someone says something or my girlfriend stops having sex with me.

how do you guys deal with unevenness?

every time i got to cut I just mess it up and I gotta suffer a week or two of regrow period before it looks semi-normal.

I plan on going to a barber to get a proper trim, but maybe after my left side grows out a bit more (it grows slower :( )

by beard grows in weird directions. On my neck it grows towards the right, so when it meets the hair growing down from my cheek and jaw, i get this seam where both directions meet and push against each other.

I have my barber trim it.

Happy with the length overall, only thing I'm thinking of changing is the thickness of the sides of it to lengthen my face (if that's even a thing). Other than that, pretty goddamned chuffed with how it's turning out!

Pretty well, actually. It's been about 3 months (my interest in posting a monthly pic to this thread died, as the thread went into hibernation), and I've had to have it trimmed by my barber a few times. It tends to get really thick around the neck, and not in a good way. I have to keep getting it trimmed to reduce the weight of it, while still trying to grow the length.

I'm due for a bit of a cleanup in this photo - I get lots of crazy strays pointing in all kinds of directions, and it's a bit difficult to tame.

Overall though, very happy with it, and I'll probably keep it through spring, although I may have to get rid it at the end of year once the Perth summer kicks in!

On the left was grown since St. Paddy's day this year with some mild trimming. I was forced at shave-point to get the beard trimmed last week Sunday, or it would be forcefully removed for my cousin's wedding two days ago. I opted for the $20 bribe to get it done professionally. Granted, I'm pissed I now lost my connection from my beard to my stache.

In the meantime, now that I have to make up lost time I'm not going near a razor in the near future except to shave my neck. It gets unbearably itchy and I hate the look. Also going to fill in the sides of my cheek this time, the chin strap was nice but I want to try something else.

Anchor is a personal favourite of mine, but it's a lot of maintenance and I used to shave it off entirely after a few weeks every couple of months.

Go Shaneus! Looking good man. Yeah, a bit shorter on the sides would work I reckon.

Coming on nicely. Stray hairs are a pain to deal with, so I stopped :) I just shave the neck and cheeks and let the rest go where it wants mostly.

Nope. I would refuse to attend, you can't tell someone else to change their hair for a wedding unless they are a just getting a different style. That said though, the short beard looks pretty damn good too.

Done! Trimmed and tidied (surprised how easy it is to get stragglers with a decent trimmer) along the sides, really impressed with how it turned out.

I think it lengthens my face quite a bit, so yeah... bit stoked.

GREAT trim job for sure. Improves your looks all around.

Have you ever considered more of a buzz cut on the sides/back? I really think it would work really well for your face and where your hairline has receded to. I've had friends do this to fantastic results, and they were bearded too.

My shit dont grow :(

Like, I only have small bits of hair on my face but they dont seem to grow at all. I have a mustache and hair on my chin, but I would like a full beard. Im desperate to look like a caveman, GAF. HELP ME OUT!!!

Any products that would help me grow a glorious beard?

Huh, I didn't know this thread existed. I'll have to visit when I grow my beard back...in a year. First day of class is tomorrow, and my grad school has a no-beard dress code.

The trimmed sides was a brilliant move. Well done.
