Hang in there

Wish I can lend you some of my hair genes =/

My beard is still growing at an absurd rate

It has passed my chest and started it's journey towards my tummy!

Not the best photo or light for that matter. Gonna take a better picture tommorow. But i can say in normal light it looks mutch more then this. And this grows really fast this is just in 1 week.

So envious. I could just repost my pic from weeks ago now for my current status :/

Alright, two months after the heat wave necessitated the destruction of months of work, I'm back. I have done no grooming or shaping on it yet, just growing it as quick as I can. Next week I will shave my neck and cheeks, and get a barber to have a look and give it a mild trim.

1 week later. That is more a beard right?

Much better. Looks good.

So have you guys ever shampooed your beard? I just had a shower and thought I'd give it a shot. It's quite nice and my beard smells like fruits now.

Umm.... yeah

I use the family shareable shampoo
2 squirts of the Dove Pomegranate Shampoo/Body Wash then the Conditioner of same type, beard smells delicious

Also now my beard has reached the trap food in your beard stage
I'll find chip crumbles and sometime bits of sour patch sour/sugar >.>;

I await the day a bird makes it's nesting place, I know it's coming right?... right?

I do this every other week (not shower, but Beard Cleansing)

The week off, I use this special Olive Hair Polish, smells like an Italian Feast, hair shines and is smooth like a motherfucker

Any recommendations for a beard/hair trimmer for under $50?

Currently looking at two products.

Braun CruZer 6 beard and hair trimmer for $40 via Amazon
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004WIUNCG/?tag=neogaf0e-20'
braun-cruzer-beard-and-head-trimmer.jpg

Panasonic Milano ER-GB40-S for $50 via Amazon
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B008KEJ1LM/?tag=neogaf0e-20
56LsHzp.jpg

One positive note about the Braun is the extra lengths for the hair trimmer. You get 10-20mm wheres the Panasonic stops at 10mm.

Gotta admit, I'm solely using this to trim my chest hair, armpit hair, back hair, shoulder hair, etc. I do not have a beard.

Do I need a "body trimmer/shaver" rather than a beard trimmer? Not sure about a clean-shaven chest. I like my chest hair.
(Edit: I do like a clean-shaven back and shoulders though.)

Ideas or thoughts? Thanks

Can't beat it for less than $20: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Philips-Norelco-G370-60-All-in-1-Grooming-System/5184607

I just use my hair clippers (Wahl 2000 Taper), put on a 10mm guard and trim away. I think they longest I've let it grow is about one inch.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I'll look into the above. You are right, for my needs I don't need to spend $50. A regular ole $20 Walmart trimmer would work.

Dead Man,
Yeah. I read some reviews that said the motors/power isn't that great. For my use, a trimmed chest every month or two? it should not matter.

My family's trying to get me to shave my beard and and get my hair cut =/

They say I look to "Hobo"-ish

Fuck ; ;, I fell like an Intervention is coming >.>;

GAF, I will be 19 on the 14th of June. I have been able to grow facial hair (besides growing a mustache at 13) since I was 15 I believe. I can grow under the neck, my cheeks, and mustache. The only problem is, I have one or two patches. The first patch is on the right side of my cheek, so it would look weird if I grew out my beard.
Should I embrace it and try growing it out? I pretty much have everything besides that one patch, and I'd obviously keep it trimmed.
I think short beards are pretty cool. dark brown hair, if it matters. Thanks.

Welp my family and me met halfway

Was my nieces birthday last weekend, had to get trim for hair/beard

Beard is back to being short and hair up to shoulder length (was almost halfway to my back)

It's back in between 3-6/7 months stage, lets say 5 months...

; ;

What a delay to be put on my schedule of achieving Lycan =/
Hey at least my beard now has a symmetrical shape, and shaped very nicely into "V" shape

Time to go be a hermit for a year+ to get back what I lost (/_\;)

Is there really a reason you couldn't just tell your family no? I don't think the slave collar actually explodes if they press the remote...

Beard-GAF, I need your help.

I've had a beard since high school. Never shaved it. In fact, up until last year, I didn't really do much with it other than wash it and pat it down with my hands, cause I did not particularly care about my appearance.

Well, I care now. My beard refuses to be tamed. How can I get it from being all curly all over the place and all poofy and shit. I want it to be down and straight. I have a beard brush that I use before I go out, but my beard just poofs back up again within a couple hours. It has a will of its own. I need to tame this beast.

Three months in! May shave at the end of the month but not entirely sure. People seem to love red beards up here in the PNW, so who knows!

Keeping a beard clean

  • Just like your hair, wash and shampoo your beard regularly. A mild shampoo is easier on your skin.
  • After shampooing, you may use a conditioner. Be sure to rinse thoroughly. Failure to rinse sufficiently may result in flaking. Because beard hairs are so coarse, conditioners will have less effect on the beard than on the hair on your head. But a conditioner will still help make your beard feel softer.
  • Gently pat and wipe your beard dry with a towel. Blow drying is not really necessary and can be harsh on your skin.
  • Comb your beard and mustache with a wide-toothed comb to remove tangles. Optionally, you can finish up by using a brush.

Have never kept my beard going for more than a month, but I thought I'd go past November and keep it on. Man, shampoo'ing a beard, that should be fun.

beard gaf...do ladies like it when you rub your beards on them?
This is something I enjoy doing, but I have not received great feedback.

Also, threw away the safety razor and purchased a 10 dollar set of Conair clippers. Learning to use them is slow, but I don't mind this DIY spirit.

Oh hell yeah. Gotta dip your beard in hot wax first for maximum effect!

depends on the lady. some like beards from the get go, some just don't.

but when you find the one that does... that's a keeper.

For me, Movember ended just now. I got a little bit of growth on the cheeks, first time it has happened at all this year, so Im gonna call it a successful experiment.
Shaved it down to a frame around the jaw, kept the goatee (Feb 4 will be the date of it's demise, then it will be 1 year old.)

Movember is over and all of my beards are gone. This feels so strange and I look stupid. Let's hope everything grows back fast.

Okay guys, sorry for the necromancy but I'm a total neophyte here.

I'm only about 5 days into beard town and I need some advice! In this picture does it look like I trimmed my neckline too high?

I don't want to look like a creep.

Nah, that's just a neat trim job you did. Nothing creepy about it. Depends on the look you're going for. I like to let the underside grow for a bit, but still keep it short and neat. mostly because the hair under the chin/neck is unmanageable and clumps together something fierce.

This guy was totally right. My love interest is crazy about my beard :)

Ah, sweet. Thanks! My work just changed the dress code to allow short beards of about 1/4 inch. I'm gonna try to be all renegade and go 1/3 though. I've always wanted to grow one but the rules never explicitly said my department could so I'm pretty stoked.

I'm fine with short and neat. I haven't really seen any model beards I hope to emulate. I should look around.
