i assume you're talking about beatmania usa? it's cuz 5 key mode has a remix of the mgs2 theme
yeah im guessing the answer is 'why the fuck are you playing this instead of burning a real iidx game'
i assume you're talking about beatmania usa? it's cuz 5 key mode has a remix of the mgs2 theme
For the US Beatmania? Yes, because in 5-Key Mode, you can play "Metal Gear Solid Main Theme"kojima productions is in the credits?

so USIIDX is the best one objectively? cool
but 6th has Night of Fire
We generally don't talk about piracy here, even for things as old as this. Tis against the site TOS and will get you banned. I'd edit that post out if I were you.
A lot of the old PS2 versions go for cheap. They'll get pricier, though.Fair enough. FWIW I don't pirate (modded ps2 was done ~4 years ago for my import of kh2fm) but like, is there any reasonable method to actually obtain IIDX games, or "not really".
And iirc it's not piracy talk or emulators or such as a topic that's banned on GAF, but posting torrent links and going "lol I'm just going to pirate that shit" will eat you a ban. I was moreso asking if I was SOL and running into a moral dilemma or if there was a way to obtain them for not obscene prices, rip. Alternatively, could git gud on the US one then play it at an arcade, hm
but rave cannon is objectively better

I dunno, that one was cool, but I always liked the remix of Yell Dead Cell which was acutally from MGS2.. the other one was acutally from MGS since MGS2 hadn't been released yet at the time.
Meanwhile, Empress seems to be going for $100+ on eBay (which makes sense considering it was the final game + contains another disc with 98 previous songs). DJ Troopers seems to be going for around $70ish, with Gold being around $50-$70.
The newer the game, the more expensive it is.
My guess is as the series went on, sales weren't as strong, which would explain why after 16/Empress (which I should mention came out THREE YEARS AFTER THE PS3 LAUNCH), there hasn't been a console release since & they did that bonus disc that's basically a "best of" compilation. Heck, 12th/Happy Sky came out a month after the PS3 launch.>newer more expensive
THIS IS SO ILLOGICAL
24th is SINOBUZ. There was also that one on PC that came out last year that costs about 1600 yen per month, but I don't know much about it.
Bah, Distorted is probably the start of my favorite styles (I think DJ Troopers is my favorite, with Empress & Gold not far behind), but at least I know now that half of my games will still work on my HDTV.Just be aware that anything before IIDX Distorted CS (or thereabouts?) is going to be completely unplayable on anything other than a CRT, as the older releases had no display lag adjustment to speak of.
Happy Sky introduced display/timing options, so you should be good on 12 (including DistorteD) and above.Bah, Distorted is probably the start of my favorite styles (I think DJ Troopers is my favorite, with Empress & Gold not far behind), but at least I know now that half of my games will still work on my HDTV.
I just bought a cabinet with 18 Sengoku Retsuden that will be here in March, so I know i'll be dying to talk more about Pop'n around then.i'd totallyrant about the past couple pop'n releasestalk about pop'n if there was a thread
Phew, alright. Guess Red is the only one that won't work on my HDTV, but honestly, that's fine. Despite being my first import title, I don't think it's held up as well. Though I have noticed it helps playing as many songs as you can so you can learn new patterns & gives you more ways to practice. Plus it was fun going back to a previous game & realizing your skills have improved when you clear songs you previously had trouble with.Happy Sky introduced display/timing options, so you should be good on 12 (including DistorteD) and above.
Random helped me getting used to certain button combinations I wouldn't be able to press if not for it.so do i use random
X_X
im so bad :x
I woud say 10th, if you can import. Best variety.DJMAX player here, what is the best beatmania entry for newcomers? There is PC versions?
I would recommend against it, personally. I think in the early difficulties, especially below 7s, it's important to learn the songs the way they are.so do i use random

I uhhOh, big tip! Get used to using as many fingers as you can. I'm trying to teach myself to use my ring fingers now and it's really hard after years of only playing with thumb/pointer/middles.
Sheesh, the last new style I played was Lincle when I was in Tokyo in April, and I barely got to try the new stuff since I was already like four mixes behind and mostly played favorites from those styles.
thanks guys!
(also woo I love posting a ton in an OT and it undying :3)
I uhh
scratch with my pinky
and then thumb/pointer/middle and on the far right the outside part of my hand similar to my pinky.
I haven't played much more than an hour and a half though, just got it yesterday finally <_>
that is a perfectly acceptable hand position
don't let anyone dilute you into thinking that hand position is the end all be all though, I'm a literal mess and play freeform half the time and I'm clearing midrange 12's
<__> I know in ddr it's important, but staminaaa
meanwhile bleh I just suck at this game. I mean, I can clear standards and played 1.5hr, but meh, I wanna git gud. Rocket League though.
The fact you're using your pinky to scratch is already a good thing, you need all the fingers you can. Took me a while to learn/get used to using just the pinky compared to the entire hand.
I agree with this. I don't mean you should learn a specific hand position, but make sure you don't lock yourself into thinking that key 1 and 2 can only be hit by your left thumb (or whatever rules you set for yourself). I got stuck at 7/8s for a long time because I refused to change it up.that is a perfectly acceptable hand position

whos dan
whats a dan
if you wanna give it a go for free I can help you get BMS (beatmania emulator, pc) set up, there's a yearly song competition so there's lots of play if you want to get a feel for the game
otherwise you're gonna need to get a ps2 and import, I would say anything 12-16 is fine, my personal preferences are 14 (gold) and 15 (dj troopers)
