Bel-Air isn’t an SNL Parody? I am dead.

Sorry but that was literally the funniest shit I’ve seen the entire Super Bowl. Guess some guys who were up to no good started making trouble in his neighborhood: he got in one little fight and his mom got scared! Fucking gritty Reimagining of Fresh Prince!

Definitely not not the direction I was expecting them going with, but truthfully younger me would have probably been hyped for this. It looks like a sanitized Vanity Fair type story for a different young demo.

If nothing else it looks slickly produced. Aunt Viv also sounds like the TV Aunt Viv which is a little nostalgic.

I won’t be watching this. It looks like it lacks any of the things that made the original good. In a word: boring. Notice how none of the characters have charm, personality, or distinctive traits of any kind. Every single character in the original was unique and made a difference to a scene.

The best thing about this trailer was Made You Look, which is appropriate in a “Haha, made you look, I bet you thought this was going to be good - fooled you!” sense

OK I watched the first episode, and it's good ya'll. It is obviously not anything like an 80's TV sitcom, and it has some corny parts, but the acting is great, the cinematography is at a high level, the story is cool, they didn't skimp at all on the budget, soundtrack is on point, and it is updated in ways that totally make sense. I loved the

"DJ Jazzy Jeff" cameo

I have a feeling Jabari Banks is going places. Dude showed some range.

This actually looks better than expected.

Very different tone from fresh prince though, but I can watch it as it's own thing without constantly comparing.

This commercial played during the Superbowl and my friends were confused as to why when watching it. So I think it has a tough road ahead.

Produced by Will Smith...

It's actually a comedy... They go for laughs... It's different but the heart of it, the original, is there. It's like a mix of OG fresh prince and Roc (a dramedy on Fox in the 80s).
Where is that information coming from... because nothing shown demonstrated it as anything but a hard drama/soap opera. Not a comedy part to be seen. And if it is indeed a comedy, why in the fricken hell would they advertise it like Dynasty.

I guess to surprise people ... When Roc was on, all the advertisement showed the comedy bits, but when you watched it, you saw a fair bit of drama too... So, dramedy.

It's actually quite good. Different but with the same core.

It actually did start as a parody youtube video that went viral, I think. Apparently Big Willy liked what we saw and here we are.

It might be okay, but I can’t see it being a cultural phenomenon like the original was. The original Uncle Phil had great scenes and carried more weight (jokes aside) from growing up in during the civil rights movement and clawing his way to the top without the media/social media on his side.
Also….Never got tired of seeing Jazz get thrown out of the house!

Well I’m eating a ton of crow on this show. Watched the first 3 episodes and was surprised on how good it is. No where near what I thought it was going to be.
That may be but if it’s a hit I’m pretty sure every network is going to take it as a green light to do some truly laughably edgy reboots.

Everywhere You Look: a Full House Story. Set in 1980s AIDS epidemic San Francisco we find that Danny and Joey are lovers, Michelle is a crack baby and Aunt Jesse and Uncle Beck have gender swapped and undergone re-assignment surgery. DJ gets addicted to cocaine in season 3 and starts turning tricks with Kimmy Gibler in the Tenderloin: only normal kid is Stephanie whose new catch phrase is “How rude bitches!”

Don’t get me wrong I think those types of stories should be told but shoehorning it onto a beloved show as a reboot always make me cringe and it just seems patronizing.

Ya I hear ya, Just figured I’d give this a shot as I heard it was good. Your right though, if it is a success then there are going to be some truly laughable reboots from other networks trying to cash in.

NGL, I was ready to hate on this based on the premise but I actually enjoyed it. That first few seconds though..... and it's OK. Phew. Carlton is now an interesting character and Uncle Phil cashed in all those Google, Amazon and Apple shares he brought in the 90's. Sadly a lot of people are not going to give it a shot if they wanted a new studio audience comedy.

Shame they made absolutely no effort to convey any of this in the trailer

Marketing department fucking things up again.
100%. Take Carlton for example. You’ve done a more effective job of telling me about Carlton than they did, because all I got was that he is a smug twat who is one of the popular boys that looks down on Will, lacking any of the likability of OG Carlton. The trailer conveyed bad traits and nothing else.

For real Carlton in this is the best character right now. Fucking. Carlton. Hillary is still vapid, but she has a purpose and 2020's reason behind that rather that "Being a rich girl lookin' good".

After watching the trailer, I see why they dropped the "fresh prince" of the title... nothing is fresh and there is no prince to be seen.

Initially I wasn't feeling the idea of a serious/dramatic Fresh Prince, but...

It's not bad, actually... I'm kinda enjoying it. Also, Carlton's actor was a weird choice for me. Good acting, but weird for me.

Turning Carlton into a Candace Owens-like jock drug addiction was certainly a decision.

It was whatever. Kind of felt like a rip off of the OC

Yeah, I think I would have been too. It's definitely quite the departure from the original sitcom. I think, considering the audience I'm guessing it's aimed at, they look to have put some good thought into rewriting the characters. The uncle seems to be the most compelling character.

The estate, though, seems to be fucking overkill. That's a bit much...

This shit stinks.

From the bottom up.

Will pulling a gun, shit talking, throwing punches, being “hard” in general.

That’s absolutely wrong. What’s the point of a departure like that?

Original Will is a goofball softie who also tends to womanize.
