Bel-Air isn’t an SNL Parody? I am dead.

So darker makes her prettier? And we’re not talking about how the characters are portrayed here.

No. Darker doesn't make her prettier. She just IS prettier IMO ... Plus she's got dimples and those curves. I thought Karyn Parsons (OG Hilary) was pretty but I think NuHilary is MUCH better looking!

They're both supposed to be airheads but the new version has a direction, at least, and not just "My daddy's rich, bih!"

I am actually really enjoying this so far.

Go a little to over the top on certain race issues, but overall from the first 4 episodes I could watch a season of this.

Are the new writers reading Kendi or Sowell?

This. If only woke people would understand instead of pushing their agenda. I come from one of the poorest family in the poorest place in Canada. My parents told me education and hard work were the key to success and they were right. I still believe that hence what used to make the USA great. Anyone could move and make it themselves. Asians still see that American Dream hence the tiger mom stereotype.

The original was light-skinned, no curves and behaved like a valley girl. The new one is darker skinned and curves for days. We're just gonna disagree on this.

You literally just referred to someone as being “light-skinned” as a negative. The fuck is wrong with you?

That's literally NOT what I did. I noted the differences between them because I felt like his post was borderline colorism. That's still a huge thing with men, especially black men, who prefer light skinned black women over darker skinned black women.

In another post I said Karyn Parsons is pretty but I think the new Hilary is even better looking.

Well I made it to the end, half way through it gets more than woke. What are we going to do the Ashley that sat out a few episodes after her introduction, well now she's LBQT. "Will Smith" is basically and emotional cry baby bitch (Hey, art imitating life!). Uncle Phil is pro black community when it suits his goals while living in a Jeff Bezos mansion. Carlton is the best character with a decent story arc. Actually, if you've got nothing better to watch then it's worth it just for Carlton. Shoutout to off-brand Chadwick Boseman trying to get that Aunt Viv ass. Third place yardie English gangster Geoffy.

A season 2 was ordered, but...

So who knows now.

We'll see where they go with Ashley. This is how some people(including me) remember younger Ashley in the old show:

who mostly wore somewhat average and baggy clothing, hi-tops, and boots that usual 90s kids would wear at the time, and she looked up to Will a lot to the point where she would try and act like him at times in the show. Obviously once the actress grew up her character's wardrobe choices and attitude reflected Hilary way more:

If the new show goes on for long enough she could end up doing the same thing. I agree with your points about Carlton and Will. I'm hoping him and Jazz have an arc where it's just them two doing their own thing and he helps Will grow to be more mature and not as emotional. Also I have no idea which guy you're talking about that you thought looked like Chadwick Boseman.

As a lot of media is nowadays, the trend is dark and gritty.

Same goes for that Riverdale show. Never watched it on NF, but it's a dramatic take on Archie comics (which in real life is as goofball as it gets).

Ashley was hot later in the show all grown up and dolled up. In modern day googling her, there are some pics where she's chubby. But some years slim and good looking. Big tits too!

Dude, you literally listed three negatives about the OG actress, one being her lighter skin, and 2 positives about the new actress, also referencing her darker skin.

How are you construing that you don't think the lighter skin is a negative and darker skin a positive in what you posted?

You like what you like, but the way you wrote it is clearly using skin tone as an attribute for attractiveness.

Like this. As usual. He's a weird one, to put it mildly.

Nothing wrong with preferring people with a certain skin tone, attraction is a personal thing. And certainly black women have been discriminated based on their coloring (both sides of the spectrum, I think, with the "high yellow" getting the better end of the deal) and I'm sure other cultures have had similar issues when european beauty standards are what others want to emulate. But he was the one to bring that up, not anyone else.
