I've never been much of a beer drinker. I never liked it until one day about 7 months ago, I was at a bar with some friends and I tried one of their beers, and it just hit me. At that moment, it didn't make any sense to me that I had never liked it before. I've decided to expand my alcoholic horizons, so, what are your favorite beers?

So far, my favorite domestic is Shiner Bock and my favorite import is Newcastle.

If your hungry go with a guiness... Its a meal in a bottle. I'm also a big fan of Rolling Rock and Labatt Blue... plus Labatt Blue has that bear

I love:

Corona light with a Lime
Coors Light
Sam Adams Light
Kirin

My favorite lager is Grolsch.... I love that beer.

Popular to contrary belief, Guinness is actually a light beer. Just another reason it's the best.

Corona light w LEMON n Salt
Miller High Life ( when Im poor)
Guiness
Newcastle
Dos Equis XX Lager
Bass
or bass + Guiness (Black and Tan)

Deschutes' Mirror Pond Pale Ale is my favorite. It really helps that the brewmaster is a family friend... lots of free beer.

I'm also a fan of Fat Tire and Deschutes' Black Butte Porter.

The best beer I've ever tasted is 'Rothaus Tannenzäpfle' from germany

Second best is 'Welde No.1'. Its from germany too

Many listed here are good, and I'll add Spaten Oktoberfest.
Don't mind the Young's Double Chocolate Stout either.
If you're into the heavier beers, Rogue's Shakespeare Stout will fit the bill quite nicely.

Do you live out west??? I ask because all my friends that live out on the left coast have their corona like that....

Also, with Corona. If anyone wants to kick it up a notch, I suggest you get a shot of Bacardi Limon poured into it...

Basically when you pop open the bottle, there is that little area at the neck of the bottle that has no liquid. Take some Bacardi Limon and pour it in until it rises to right below the mouthpiece on the bottle... Then do the standard flip over to mix it nicely and drink. You hardly tast the limon but you have a few of those, and you will be shitfaced in no time.

If you're anywhere near the intersection of Vermont/New Hampshire/Massachusetts, McNeill's is great. Their Imperial Stout (winter only, sadly) is especially good.

That said, when I'm away from the area or can't be bothered to visit a package store, Guinness and the Extra Stout variant thereof usually do the trick.

This is a good beer for those beggining on thier drinking. Each type has a very sharp and decernable taste and it comes with a handy little scale so you clarify the different styles. After some time the taste may seem too agressive and you'll probably look for more subdued brews.

The Variety Pack. Start buying these to learn the different flavors. They usuallaly come out to $1-1.25 per beer.

The little Scale thing for the beer.

Edit: Try to guess journalist/author who inspired the brew and also who the artwork artist is.
No, not Bob Woodward

90% of the time I drink this. Cheap Canadian beer

Sometimes I'll drink Marca Bavaria.

I dont venture much into the foreign crap.. cause it mostly tastes like ass. Nothing I want to get drunk on.

So many good beers, so little time.

Dos Equis Lager
Bass Ale
Guinness Stout
Smithwick's Ale
Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout

and on and on and on... why choose a "best?" :)

All time fave:

franziskaner2kp.jpg

- Franziskaner Hefe-weiss

Another fuckin great wheat beer in a pinch Julius Echter Hefe-weiss. I could drink that crap ALL DAY LONG. Other beers I regularly indulge in with great justice:

- Newcastle Brown Ale
- Kirin Ichiban
- Guinness Draught

I find most mass produced mega-corp beers (Miller, Budweiser, Coors) to be pretty flavorless.

ANYTHING made by Rogue brewery in Oregon

The best beer I've ever had is Anderson Valley Brewing's Summer Solstice Cerveza Crema. Good LORD is that good stuff. Soooo thirsty...

ohohoh! listen to that guy. he's got style! Tannenzäpfle is one hell of a beer. i love it! i suppose you are from germany right?

although i regard Tannenzäpfle as a very good beer i prefer Becks. good thing about it: you get it in every major city around the world

that franziskaner wheat beer mentioned above is also very tasty. although i can't consume much of those in a row. one of them is nearly a sufficient meal, imagine a fluid chunk of bread =)

I like a Corona every now and then but I am not a real big beer drinker.

More like Margaritas for me.

Oh, here is some good shit. :/

My old man use to like this:

Made by Weinhards some years back.

A good old Henry Weinhards Private Reserve is not bad.

weinhardpriv.jpg

Guiness Stout
St. Pauli Girl
Sam Adams Winter Lager and Oktoberfest (seasonal)

and one that becomes a favorite with everyone I've introduced it to so far...

this is the good stuff

Unibroue's Maudite, Fin du Monde, and Trois Pistoles rank among my 3 most hated beers. Everyone else I know loves it. I'll never understand.

I don't mind "Football Beer" as someone described it. When you are out tailgating before and after the game, you can't drink this high octane stuff many people are talking about here. You will be passed out on the ground before kickoff.

So, if I am in THAT situation, I go with some Bud Select or Miller Lite. You can drink for hours and not feel all bloated or totally lose your mind. Now if I am at home, just grilled a steak I bust out the St. Arnold's, but I think it is only available in Texas at the moment.

the very best, youngs double chocolate stout

2nd fave, and a fairly recent discovery by me, moose drool
Moose_Drool_Brown_Ale.jpg

runners up:
seirra nevada
eye of the hawk
arrogant bastard
newcastle
sam adams

Redhook ESB for sure.
Pyramid Hefe is good, but I like the Crystal Hefe they serve at their Alehouse more.
Kokanee is tremendous as well. I like how crisp it is. I wish they had the Kokanee Light or GOld south of the Border. I've had to make runs into BC for some.
I like a Guiness every once in a while, but it's so damned expensive, you can't get drunk off it. I mean, Six bucks for a pint in the bars my friends go to, is just too much for beer.
Weinhard's Blue Boar is a cheap beer that tastes good and will get you drunk.

But for the love of all that is good and free, NEVER EVER DRINK PBR!

Corona
Tuborg

Anyone that mentions Molson Canadian/Labbat Blue needs to get their head checked.

what's wrong with Molson? Is it cause there's better Canadian beers? Corona is hardly great beer, I wouldn't even list it in a top ten mexican beer list.

If "getting drunk" is still the purpose of drinking for you, I guess. I'll settle for "lubricated" and "social" Drunk died in college.

[/ignore the above if you're still in college]

Unibroue (La Fin du Monde is fantastic)
Anchor Steam
Chimay (Blue is my fav)
Sierra Nevada
Bells (Oberon!)
Mendocino (love Eye of the Hawk!)
