My bro suggested George Carlin (I think :p) said it's only $10.

I don't want to spend too much to be honest...$35 or so max. So hopefully I can get 2 or 3 CDs.

Perhaps there are free mp3s on the net from funny up'n comers?

I've already heard two David Cross CDs...Shut up you F'n crybaby and another one. Those were great. Already heard some Chris Rock as well...

So besides those guys, any suggestions?

Either one of Mitch Hedburg's CDs

or more importantly

Relentless or Rant in E-Minor by Bill Hicks

You have never been more right about anything, ever.

But Carlin is also a good choice.

Phil Hendrie! You have to order them online though...there is probably a link somewhere on his site (he sells them for charity through some charity organization)

phil hendrie show

I am pretty sure 2003 and 2004 cds are 20 bucks for 2 cds full of stuff. Occasionally people post links to sites which have clips from Phil's show. Basically it consists of Phil+a amde up guest (also Phil) talking to callers who think the guest is a real person. Hilarity ensues...

Speaking of him, did he really die April 1st? Haven't heard anything about it a couple days later if it was true or not.

Yeah, pretty sure he's dead or hanging out with Andy Kaufman :(

Eddie Izzard
Jerry Seinfeld
Mitch Hedberg
George Carlin
Eddie Murphy
Dane Cook

I respect Richard Prior for everyone he's inspired and for breaking down walls with censorship, but I never really found him funny.

That's because his jokes have been told 100 times by current comics. To listen to old standup you have to put yourself in the timeframe in which it came out.

George Carlin isn't funny to me. I hate these guys who take social issues and make jokes about them. Booooring....

I second Pablo Francisco (GREAT imitations) and of course Jerry Seinfeld. Don't forget Bill Cosby either.

You hate comics who take social issues and make jokes about them but like Seinfeld and Cosby?

I second the Richard Pryor recommendation above. The nine-disc box is the only way to get the complete album That N*****'s Crazy (the funniest album he recorded), but there's a two-disc anthology of selections from that set that's worthwhile.

Be wary of Neil Hamburger....deffinately an aquired taste and even then...NOT for everyone.

Dennis Leary, No Cure For Cancer...should be in the bargain bin by now, but most excellent.

Might wanna try some Sam Kinison. Ohh OOOHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
