Best GBA multiplayer games

Me, a friend, and our girls are about to go on a cruise. For the flight, me and my bud were planning on playing some GBA.

Mind making a list of kick-ass linkup games? It'd be nice if they are games that only need one cartridge, but unfortunately that's too limiting - so even if we need two, what should we buy?

Thanks in advance (bad pun :D)!

I'd be pushing the limits of taste to pimp my game again, so let's just say Advance Wars 1 or 2. Both are pretty fun multiplayer strategy games with singlecart and multicart options.

Mario Kart will get you a long way.

Other than that, get a few DSes and you are all set for Pictochat fun :lol

Crazymoogle,

Wait, you worked on Advance Wars? Shit! That's Awesome!!!

Know anywhere I can still get it new (and at a reasonable price)? Can you elaborate on the different gameplay modes available for single and multi-cartridge. If the game's not cheap, I'll need fuel to convince my bud to buy it too :)

mutsu,

That might not be bad way to go...

mr_sockochris,

For Bomberman, do you mean Bomberman Tournament? It has all modes available with one cart? Sweet!!

I second Advance Wars 1 or 2, although for best results complete the training and a few single player missions before you leave for the trip.

Bomberman Tournament, also, is a fine fine pickup -- and very friendly to casual players.

Avoid Bomberman Max 2 -- it's multiplayer mode is more Pokemon like, and nowhere near as good.

Chu Chu Rocket has all modes on single-cart play too, if you can find it (good luck).

Zelda:LttP is worth buying two copies to play Four Swords (though it isnt as good as the GC version)

Crazymoogle,

If you feel the game you worked on is good - and it has some sweet link-up modes, please PM me the title (if you feel uncomfortable stating it otherwise).

BTW - your oroginal post was perfectly clear, I'm just extra dumb right before bedtime. I completely misread it.

To all,

Is 4 swords more of a mini-game, or is it actually a 2-player (in my case) version of A Link to the Past?

Also, anyone play Ware Ware : micro machines (or whatever its called)? Are the 2-player games worth the price of admission, or is it a better single-player game?

4 Swords is a self contained game which has like four different themed worlds that you go through. Within each world there are like 3 levels which you and your friend cooperatively/competitively progress through (the mix of cooperation and competition is what makes 4 Swords awesome), and the 3rd level you fight a boss.

The levels themselves are randomly generated so each time you play is a fairly unique experience (though you will notice certain puzzle/trends reappearing on multiple plays).

That's not pushing any limits. Racing Gears Advance is the shizzle and should be pushed at every opportunity even if you did work on it.

Good luck finding it, though...
The Toy R Us nearby has like 8 copies. As soon as I get some positive cashflow going I might pick a copy up. From what I hear Mr. Moogle you should be pimping this thing out quite a bit.

Advance wars is a great choice, not only can it do single cart multi, but single GBA multi too. The only thing is that it does have a bit of a learning curve (CO strengths/weakness and Powers)

I haven't played the GBA version of four swords, but assuming it's anything like the cube version, it would be perfect for the trip.

Other than what's already been mentioned, I can't think of anything that doesn't require you both to and a file with your characters on it.

Hm, Four Swords on GBA is by far not as interesting as the Cube version I'm afraid. I didn't really like the generic levels on GBA, it only takes about 2 minutes to finish a level as you'll play them about 20 times if you want to unlock the extra palace in A Link to the Past.

I wish I was able to play Shining Soul 2's multiplayer, I hope they make another one for the DS with online multiplayer.
