Alright boys. I’m going to put it between the big 3.

Which of these 3 long dong games is the best of the best? Why?

Edit: tried to avoid having a bunch of RE games because RE4 is clearly the best but added the others just for the shits and giggles.

Resident Evil = popular. My guess is it would have won 15 years ago has the OG versions as well.

Great list of games to play for Halloween.

What time is it?
I've only played Dead Space and RE4. I'd rather play the original RE4 and could go either way on Dead Space.

REmake is still my favorite.

Barring that RE2R.

Dead Space Remake has worse sound design and I preferred a silent Protagonist over a voiced one.

I like the RE3 Remake because I hate Nemesis mechanic, and when it’s pre baked it’s much more manageable. RE4 is the benchmark though. I have to mod RE2 pretty heavily to get it to my liking, but when I do I love it. No Mr. X and one hit kill headshots. Make it a whole different game. Purists I’m sorry. It does reduce ammo loot to balance things.

Dead Space was a step up graphically, but a step backwards in pacing and narrative. Resident Evil 4 felt pretty soulless and I much prefer the original over the remake. Haven't played Silent Hill 2.

Resident Evil 2, however, stands on its own, and it's different enough from the original game that I still enjoy replaying the original too. If these are our options, then Resident Evil 2 wins, hands down.

Added RE1&3 because even though RE4 would win on its own without issues we still need to let people throw their votes down the toilet.

Resident Evil 2. It was impressive how well it converted the fixed camera angles of the original into the over the shoulder perspective. It's easy to fuck something like that up but Capcom were really careful with the level design and enemy placement.

Adding Mr X into the main scenario was also a bold move but paid off immensely. I know a bunch of people didn't like that but his presence hadn't made me so shit scared of just moving across the map since the Resident Evil remake's crimson heads. It actually required a lot of forward planning.

There was also a ton of great post-game content. I spent a few days trying to do the Hunk 4th survivor no damage run:

Action adventure is not survival horror.

Cmon quit trolling.

They’ve working on another remake. Wait for that remake. The current “remake” is more of just the definitive HD version at this point. The more recent remakes are a huge step above the originals.

Haha, too funny.

Resident Evil Remake is the reigning champ for 10+ years, and will probably never be topped.

Out of the RE remakes, the Remake is the closest 1:1 remake. RE2 is next in line but there’s significant removals like the zapping system and the a/b scenarios which were an afterthought in the remake. Still RE2 remake was an incredible game and lived up to the hype as one of the most wanted remakes for many years. I feel RE4 remake is the perfect remake. They left a lot of what made the original great and added a lot of new things. I can’t speak for the others as I haven’t played them. So with that said I have to give the nod to RE2. RE2 may of been my favourite game of all time, and they executed this remake near perfectly. The police station is one of the best areas ever created in the RE universe imo. The first moment I entered that police station in the stunning detail in the remake It was quite surreal. It is great to see all these great games being remade. It would’ve been sad if they were all brought back and all rushed. But they all were made incredibly well.

Who is Mia Khalifa 👀? Freaking love the Resident Evil games since the OG 1 on the OG PlayStation. But, Silent Hill 2 man, might just put a toe ahead of the best remakes Resident Evil have. Just might.

Alone in the Dark was a substantial remake.
It seems no one played it, though.
I enjoyed it greatly but never played the original and so I have no idea whether it is a remake or a reimagining.

Anyways, I put Resident Evil 3 on top. Has the most fun mechanics and the best pacing and the best presentation.
