Best Streaming Device going into 2020

With the holidays upon us, I have been tasked with upgrading my folks entertainment center to accommodate the newest streaming services. Back when The Criterion Collection deemed the PlayStation 3 the best Blu Ray player, I made sure my folks had one in their entertainment system. Now that Sony has stopped support for the PS3 and Disney + isn't coming to the system, I have a range of choices, almost too many. On my personal setup, I have rocking an Xbox One S for all my streaming purposes. While I it would be easy enough to replace the PS3 with a PS4, I wanted to hear what the GAF consensus was. I have their system hooked up to a Logitech Harmony remote system to make it as easy as possible.

If they don't need a dedicated "gaming console", I completely recommend the Nvidia Shield as the de-facto standard in set-top streaming boxes. It runs Android TV which supports all the streaming platforms like Google Play, VUDU, Hulu, Amazon Prime, Disney+, Netflix, etc. Easy to set up, and easy to use.

I use Apple TV, but I'm also completely invested in the Apple ecosystem. On that basis, it's a fantastic device that gets the lions share of my usage.

Apple TV 4K. But upgrade, or technically downgrade, to the basic remote instead of the the touchpad remote it comes with. I have a bunch of devices I use for streaming, but I seem to always go back to the Apple TV.

I would get a Firestick or Android box, Shield probably being the best of the bunch.

You can at least side load apps to them.

If they have Iphones I guess an Apple TV but I stay away from the apple ecosystem and prefer Android.

Nvidia shield.

4k streaming, dolby atmos, steam link/nvidia gamestream, strong enough to do retro emulation should you ever fancy it, easy to set up and use.

Had mine almost a year and love it.

How do you get the older remote??? I have the touchpad and it is AWFUL!!! I miss the old Apple TV remote so badly!

I love my Apple TVs. The remote sucks but I usually use my phone as the remote as it works much better for me and it's always in my hand.
