Best TMNT game EVER

teenage.jpg

And it is a freaking Gameboy green game! :D

The game had big characters and was fairly well animated, certainly for the Gameboy standards at the time. The game had some parallax scrolling, another oddity on the portable. But probably better was the soundtrack, a pumping collection of familiar tunes and new ones. I loved it.

The moves were basic, barely qualifying as a beat-em-up, but it offered some platforming on top of that. I really liked the way the game was faithful to the characters in the cartoon. Schredder and Krang were my favorite bosses. My only complaint is that is that it was over so quickly!

One last thing I loved about this title are the hidden bonus game, especially the little mind teaser against Krang, trying not to end up with the last piece. I remember combing through every nook and cranny of all levels to get access to those bonuses.

I can remember the TMNT games on NES and SNES. Man, those games rocked so hard. There was this side-scrolling 2-player TMNT on SNES I think... It was real sweet.

The turtles game on the ST and Amiga wasnt that bad either compared to some mentioned here. The arcade game is the best however.

NES TMNT1 gets my vote, if only because it used a fun, relatively unique gameplay system that for some reason nobody has ever tried to rip off.

Otherwise, TMNT Arcade game rocked.

TMNT 1 for NES would have been awesome without the obnoxious Dam level. The GB games were okay and the NES games were fun, but the Arcade games were the best.

TMNT 3: Radical Rescue for GB seemed interesting, but I didn't play much. I also remember wanting to play Manahattan Missions for PC.

the dam seperated the men from the boys!

Have to say TMNT: the arcade game was best. Wasted so much money on that thing and I was so crap, probably never made it passed the 4 th level (was about 7 at the time). Always remember watching better , older gamers get up to the stage with the skateboards, awesome. I soooo wanted to be that good.

TMNT 1 on the NES was a unique classic though. It was the game I got with my NEW. Played it all day at Christmas. It was damn hard though and I can't remember if I ever finished it. I definitely remember getting up to the technodrome (I can catually REMEMBER the name of that thing, oh dear) and it was insanely difficult if I remember right. loved it, and yes the dam level was a bitch.

Turtles in time was fun but it was pretty cliche beat em up really, and much easier than the two above.

No kidding. I actually think it's a key part of the game, because it keeps things new for awhile and at the same time toughens you up for the difficulty of what is to come. ;)

TMNT 2 for me (NES), which was the arcade game with more levels (I could be very wrong here). I've downloaded a MAME one, which was TMNT2 with less levels.

I'll drink to that. It still gives me nightmares.

:lol Damn this thread(no pun intended), now I have that level's music playing in my head. Beating the level was certainly a moment.

Sentimentally speaking, TMNT 1 for NES, TMNT 2 for NES(only played the arcade game rarely when I actually went somewhere that had it), and TMNT IV:TiT are my faves. I do remember that Gameboy game though.

TMNT: The Arcade Game for NES gets my vote.

Still remember the extra guys + stage select code too: B A B A Up Down B A Left Right B A Start :D

There's not enough Tournament Fighters love.

I remember renting that when it first came out, I might have just been a terrible gamer back then, but it is by far one of the most frustrating fighters I have ever played (though I havenÂ’t played it in years), I remember being on the brink of crying because I couldnÂ’t beat Leonardo.

GAH! now i've uprooted terrible memories!

No mention of the Hyperstone Heist for Genesis?

I really liked this one, especially the final bout against Shredder. I thought that was one of the better boss fights within a TMNT game.

If any TMNT game was sloppy, it'd be the very first one on NES, even though I still like that game. The controls were kinda poor and made the game extra difficult

But surprisingly, TMNT's had a good track record in the games industry... except for the LAME modern games.

i can only dream of a next-generation Turtles beat 'em up, set in the first movie's dark and dingy world

We have to specify here about Tournament Fighters;

SNES = Great
Genesis = Steaming pile of shit

Ah, the arcade games, being greeted by many-a "Cowabunga!" token plunk noise... In some areas of the original, you could even do a bit of fidgetting, and jump onto the background scenery. (Wasn't that hard in early versions.) The Foot had trouble following you and hitting you up there. You were a bit limited yourself, but I was still enertained by that.

Turtles in Time sticks out in my mind, the original arcade version was excellent, and the home version got some nice polish and changes, and it was impressive that they even replicated the "towards the screen" throw effect.

Several others were quite excellent, I'd forgotten about Fall of the Foot Clan, but seeing the shots again definitely jogged a few memories... Have to say the original NES TMNT got too hard for my young mind and skills back when NES was big, though. Didn't help that the rental didn't have a manual, and games didn't tutorial as much then as they do now, so it was hard to tell what was a threat and what wasn't on the map, and what to do next. :P

I really dont understand how people are posting TMNT 2 for NES. Maybe they never got around to the arcades..but this thread ends with this..

The Arcade Versions of

TMNT : The Arcade Game
TMNT : Turtles in Time

Console versions were enjoyable, and the GB games were kinda fun for what they were. But when you take things out of a great game and dont improve upon them there is no way for it to be better.

I dont remember much specifics of the original Turtles arcade game, other than I loved it. The NES version i remember being a decent translation, but not as good.

Turtles in Time rocked hard though. AWESOME game, even on SNES. And the snes version had the limited versus fight mode too.

The original NES one though was, as others said, a game that seperated the men from the boys. I fell into the boys category.

The gameplay of the gameboy version was soooooo sluggish, and it had terrible hit detection. Didn't stop me from playing the shit out of it. I could beat it without taking any damage, I thought I was so good. :lol

The first NES Turtles game was great as an action/adventure, but for sheer "OMG!" factor, the best one HAS to be the original TMNT: The Arcade Game. Awesome graphics and sound to go along with 4 player action. Was there ever a truly faithful home port made?
