If you've got a Mac, can't go wrong with Final Cut Pro, as previously mentioned.
I switched before Premiere Pro came out, so I can't comment on how it compares there, but Vegas had much better sound implementation and the general workflow appealed to me. I like the flexibility, and It's much more intuitive than Premiere, at least for me.goodcow said:Why'd you switch from Premiere to Vegas?
XMonkey said:Adobe Premiere series is great, although I am not digging Pro as much as I thought I would before it came out. I don't like some of the interface tweaks they did (no more "razor at edit line" option when right-clicking in the timeline, anyone know if you can change this?), but I do appreciate a lot of the new features they've added (DVD integration with Encore, etc).

Really, outside Photoshop and Illustrator, Adobe are kinda on the catch-up to a lot of other software.
Only going from personal experience here, but I'd never go back to AE... used it for 6 years, still a great program that will do the job brilliantly, but Combustion is just so much powerful.musicplustv said:From what I've read and heard, Combustion is better for rotoscoping, painting, mattes, and stuff like that, and After Effects is better for motion graphics and animation. The addition of Keylight and Color Finesse has made AE 6.5 Pro much better because their color correction and keying were lacking.
