Best Way To Get Someone Into Warhammer 40,000?

Darkmakaimura

Can You Imagine What SureAI Is Going To Do With Garfield?
I would like to get a friend into Warhammer 40,000 and he knows absolutely nothing about the game.

Is very good starter set they sell? Something that makes it very easy to someone who knows nothing about gaming or wargaming or the setting?

I kind of want to make it a Christmas gift so to speak.

Do you want to get him into the lore or wargaming in general?

If lore you can check YT videos or start reading Eisenhorn trilogy - it's a good starting point and doesn't murder you with knowledge.

If wargaming - yes, starter set is a great place to start. But if he gets hooked he will need a second job.

Yeah I was looking at something more physical like I'm kind of starter set.

What got me into 40k was playing Darktide (the video game). Even though it's just a tiny window into the universe and the gameplay is nothing like the board game (it's a real-time FPS), it encouraged me to watch lore videos and ultimately sparked the desire to play the board game with physical units. I have not bought anything yet, but the wish is there. So what I am saying is - a good video game that he likes and makes him want to know more about the universe and lore might do a better job than a physical starter set.

Edit:
The emperor protects.

Whatever you do, don't tell him to play Space Marine 2 solo. I did that and it was one of the worst modern games in that mode.

I sucked so hard, until I realized you're supposed to play it with friends. And have friends.
