Best way to test for dead PSP pixels?

You can return them. But come on, KLee, you act like you've never used an LCD in your life.:) If a dead pixel is so hidden that you can only spot if with test JPGs you downloaded from GA, who gives a shit? Keep it. You're liable to get one with dead/stuck pixels in the middle of the screen that you will notice with the naked eye.

It really sucks that Sony is being such a bitch about this. I've read lot of posts on IGN from ppl complaining about dead pixels. I didn't intend on buying a PSP right away anyway, which I'm glad now. I'll wait till Sony gets the wrinkles ironed out. By then there should be a game I'm interested in.

Wow, these guys are either jerks or too lazy to just simply answer your question. I found that the PSP game start up screen is best screen to look for dead pixels is because this screen has an all white background, it would be easy to see the black dots on a white screen.

Becareful not to confuse dead pixels for dust, wet dots, moisture, finger prints, etc.

Why bother? If you can't see the dead pixels right away it's better to keep it that way. If you don't know are the dead\stuck pixels, you won't care :p
God I want a psp... too bad the customs will find out about the import and have me pay a lot :(

My freind had to take his back and exchange his at best buy. He had alot of dead pixels, whenever he had Twisted Metal playing it looked like a damn constalation on his screen :) by the way the Twisted Metal game rules.

Old now, but i uploaded my own pixel test JPGs at http://gamelayer.dreamhost.com/psp_pixel_test/. Download individually or get the zip. Colors include white, 50% grey, black, red, green, and blue. i'm happy to report i have no dead pixels, which is good considering EB has no PSPs left. Ironically the Walmart in the same shopping center has about ten out of the original ~52 they had at launch.

^^^ dead pixels may show up over time so it is always best to have something like that to test with

I'm still going to wait on my PSP maybe by fall I will get one
Depends on E3

I took my dead pixel system back...this ones perfect, but either its my imagination or something, but the memory stick bay thing doesnt lock on tight.

Mine has a bunch of stuck pixels but only a few dead ones, I find it hard to tell the pixels apart from specs of dust as well. It basically comes down to a tiny scratch sized spot where about 5 pixels are dead right in the screens center but unless you look straight at that precise location you wont notice. I"m not about to bitch to sony about it becuase it really doesn't bug me excpet when I looked at those test images that were posted. This isn't like the Gameboy advance where a dead pixel is super noticable and precious to the games being played. No , at worst these pixels might grey out the corner of a letter if was sitting right in my screens center.

Yeah I just double checked with those test images, I have 3 dead pixels, one in the upper right, lower left and 1 near the center. That scratch looking thing is closer to being a stuck pixel then a dead one. Again though nothing to right home about I think. I dick around trading it in and I might get one with 50 dead pixels,, or a clean one that gets 30 dead pixels over the course of a month.
