Best Wireless Earbuds for iPhone/iPad?

Having listened to both fairly extensively, the Jaybird X3 has better sound quality than the BeatsX, and they're $20 cheaper. However, the BeatsX charges with a lightning port vs the custom charging cord for the Jaybird. So if you're locked into the Apple ecosystem and want to minimize the cords and stuff you bring with you, that's a big point in their favor.

Airpods are pretty great for what they are, but do not work well for taking long phone calls. There's some issue with them where the sound quality drops substantially when you're using the mic. Returned mine because of it.

Beats X are good - battery life is decent and they have inline remote controls which is important for me.

The W1 chip isn't that amazing though - if I switch from Iphone to iPad I often have to go into Bluetooth settings to connect.
Shouldn't it suffice to select them in the swipe up control center? I have no second iOS device to test it with but that's what I heard.

AirPods sound like the perfect match for OP indeed as long as the shape fits. Non sealing, no connection issues, good sound quality, easy to take around. They aren't super expensive either but priced very competitive unlike what certain people make you want to believe.

I mean, I didn't even have to do that with my Beats X, connected them to my Apple TV just by turning them on near it. It was, dare I say, magical.

They don't always show up in the swipe up on my iPad after I've been using them on iPhone

I have both the beats x and AirPods. They're both good for different needs.

AirPods:
- battery case is amazing and is just as important to the design as having no wires. Truly what separates it from the crowd. It keeps them always charged with 24 hours of juice.
- auto play/pause/off experience with ear detection makes it the most seamless experience I've ever had with a wireless speaker. This is the true and legit replacement to connecting a 3.5mm jack.
- truly wireless
- no noise isolation
- not in-ear, so they might not fit your ears

BeatsX
- better noise isolation / lows
- better fit (interchangeable tips)
- physical inline controls
- fast fuel
- still has a wire
- no auto off (don't get the white one. Hard to tell when it's on.)

I use the BeatsX at the office and coffee shops when I need to block noise and the AirPods for runs and at the gym.

I bought one for $90 Canadian a few years back, and it was totally worth it. (Mind you mine doesn't have a CD player, but whatever.)

The difficulty of removing/installing them depends on your car, but the size isn't a problem. There's an industry standard. You might have to splice some wires together into a wiring harness, but if you're willing to put in an hour or two it's pretty rewarding. Or if you know a gearhead, give him a case of beer to install it.

What kind of car do you have?

2003 Honda Pilot.

A little off-topic, but since the idea was presented here, I'm pretty interested in the car stereo option (though I still do need new wireless earbuds, so I might spring for the official Apple brand in addition). I saw this one at Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XR3ZLJF/?tag=neogaf0e-20

If it's 100% compatible with my car and all I have to do is take out the old one and connect the wires to the new one, I'm interested in upgrading.

Here's my additional question though: I've always wanted one of those modern dashboards with the rearview camera, that includes warning lights to let you know when you're about to hit something behind you.

How much would a car stereo that includes a camera go for, and are they just as easy/compatible to set up?

Bumping this back up, because I had a couple more questions about Apple's wireless earbuds.

1. Besides Apple devices, are there any other devices I could wirelessly connect the earbuds to? I just remembered that my Home Theater has Bluetooth on it:

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/yamaha-...heater-receiver-black/5017701.p?skuId=5017701

I've been looking into a wireless option for everything connected to my HT, from my consoles to my TV. If I can connect the earbuds to it, that would really justify the purchase.

2. Do the earbuds come with a case? I'm a little worried about losing them in my bag or something.

3. Lastly, if it turns out the earbuds do fall off my ears, are there any third party bands that I could wrap around the earbuds in order to help lock them in place?

AirPods? They're Bluetooth, they work with any supported Bluetooth device. They come with a case that doubles as a 15 hour battery pack. Yes there are third party bands but I've never found them necessary.

That's significant news. If the sound quality is as good as people claim, this could be my new go-to for late night TV/gaming. I've been pining for a wireless solution as I frequently have to buy new extension cords for my corded headphones (they wear out to the point that I only get audio through one ear).

Ordered from Best Buy, as June 20th seems to be the earliest I can get it.

BeatsX? They're Bluetooth so should work with other devices, yes. They come with a rubberised carrying pouch. They come with optional wingtips to help lock them into place but I don't use them. The way they're designed if one ear falls out it'll hang around your neck just fine

Was asking about the Apple brand, actually (I ordered them btw)

Also, wingtips, that's what I was asking about. Are there any that fit with the Apple earpods?
