Eesh, this is gross. I'm not anti-violence in games, but increased fidelity takes away some of the cartoony distance afforded by things like the original doom. Also, pet peeve, over-earnest hagiography of hyper-violent media from ones youth. Yeah, doom was fun and edgy, but this crap about how it was life changing, and personality-forming and whatnot is silly.

It's a game about visiting hyperviolence on demons. Nothing wrong with that, but call a spade a spade.

Sorry dudes but Doom 4 looks terrible. Didn't even resemble a real game, that looked more like a tech demo of its gibs than an actual level from a game.

... have you played new order? it looks a lot like that. seemed like a totally realistic target to me, even if that specific demo might have been highly scripted.
