Between FF7:AC and FFXII does anything get done at SE??

I mean, really guys!! This is ridiculous. Release the crap already. I refuse to believe the "they want to give DQVIII time to accumulate sales" excuse anymore. All this crap has been in production forever (not to mention KH2) and it's becoming freaking laughable.

Realistically, it's not so much to accumulate sales but due to the fact that if they released both around the same time, it'd make one quarter's sales and profit so damn high that when the next quarter came nowhere near it, it'd make the company look bad. They can't blow their load all at once.

Yeah, but they've released hardly any new media on any of these properties lately. I'm convinced they've signed an agreement to do cross-promotion with Duke Nukem Forever.

FF III DS, KH II, the new Musahshi game, Full Metal Alchemist just came out, DQVIII is scheduled for US release, Front Mission 5 is in the works, FFVII: DoC.

Dunno the fate of Front Mission Online, but FFXI is still kicking with lots of content on the way. I'm always playing a SE game of some kind, so I never really notice a lack of SE games. And really, its not like they're the only company that makes RPGs.

Square Enix USA is going to have it hard this year.

DQVIII, FFXII, KH2, AND FFVII:AC! None of this is coming out Q1 or Q2 it seems. Looks like they'll eat into each others sales.

Ummm...wouldn't the most likely explanation just be that neither are done?

I actually think it's a good thing that SE has the kind of weight that they do, so that they can put out their highest profile titles when they "are done" and not try to rush them to any schedule.

Personally since KH2 has been playable here and there lately and since there has been new media in magazines every few weeks, I wouldn't be surprised if KH2 hit in early summer. As for FFXII.......yea...

Remember that FFXII is going to be the final FF until PS3 arrives and that could mean 2007/2008 for FFXIII. Even if FFXII at worst gets delayed until early 2006 it wouldn't be the end of the world. Heck FFIX launched AFTER the PS2 in the US.

I was thinking the same thing. My bet is on Dragon Warrior VIII being their summer release, and then Kingdom Hearts II in August or September. Then if all is truly right with the world, we will have Final Fantasy XII ready for purchase before Christmas 2005.

Final Fantasy XII has been the worse when it comes to getting pushed back. Didn't they say it would be out for the Summer of 2004 in Japan at one time. :lol

Besides those listed by Foobar

there's also Dragon Dragoon II
FF:Crystal Chronicles 2
Crisis Core: FFVII
2 Haijuku Eiyuu games
Minstrel Song

and Radiata Stories just came out.

Not to mention next gen titles like FFXIII and maybe others.

They've got their hands full, and so will the ppl translating them...

The big question is which of the forthcoming SE titles are you anticipating most?

As much of a Nintendo fan that I am, I would hate to see FF13 be a multi-platform title. There is something appealing to having an exclusive title, it is somehow more meaningful, and besides exclusives are typically the superior games. On, the other hand I wouldn't mind if FF13 was a Revolution only title, but thats pretty farfetched.

I'm expecting another big shakeup next gen. FF XIII may not be PS3 exclusive.

eh, MS has no presense in Japan and Revolution is going to have a drastically different control solution, so odds are, it'll be on PS3.

based on what?

I think a lot of people are banking on the whole shrinking JPN market vs. growing Western market. Of course it's an incredibly superficial analysis, which largely ignores that Sony dominate in both (or all 3 if you want to separate NA and EUR), overemphasising MS, simply because they are the only Western console manufacturer.

Looking back at what Squaresoft did release on the PSone, they are truly lacking this generation. That movie fiasco sure seem to have hurt them really bad.I'm not speaking of Enix, just Square.

admittedly, yeah, their output on the PS2 has been lacking compared to the PS1, but we've got another year and a half of PS2 games coming still, i wouldn't count them out yet. Some of their best work on the PS1 was in the last year of it's lifecycle.

Based on the fact that Sony showed Square Enix the middle fingure by not including the HDD port in PSTwo. Square Enix were pretty pissed.

I am expecting a major shake up as well!

FFXI is very profitable on PS2 and PC for years now, they won't make a big deal out of this. Just because some Nintendo diehard hang on that as like it's an official confirmation you don`t have to repeat that. Their thing is to follow the leader console and as long it's Sony they don't have to fear. If Xbox 2 will get the leadership that is an other deal.

Square Enix actually released a PR soon after Sony reveled the PSTwo.

I will try to find it

It was just the producer of FFXI. He basically said they're looking into where they can put FFXI next because once the PS2 is phased out they won't be able to make money on it.

FFI-VI = Nintendo (NES/SNES)
FFVII-XII = Sony (PS1/PS2)

6 games for each company...

Could that mean...

FFXIII- XVIII = Microsoft (Xenon/Xenon2)

Gasp!

:p
