She's releasing a new album this spring, according to a profile piece she had.

Well it's in an awful position but the damage seems to be more self-inflicted this time. Over-priced with very little support. They happened to both be late to the party AND somehow unprepared. Honestly I think this system could fare well if the pricing wasn't so insulting, or if more than just Zelda was launching in March. I mean between all these Wii U ports not one of them is making it to launch? I thought that was the point of last-gen ports? And the fact that they haven't even demoed their online offerings (let alone their UI) tells me that either there's not much to see or there's not much to present yet. They've spent more than a year neglecting their console for the sake of Switch development so I know there's much more to show, but if you're not working to convince consumers that this thing has promise, why would they bother (yet again)?

My guess, is that they know any game that releases at launch will probably be demolished by the mountain that is going to be Breath of the Wild. I can't think of any other system launch title that was as anticipated other than the last Zelda to launch with a Nintendo console in Twilight Princess, which then went on to become the best selling Zelda title. There was no way they were going to have Zelda, Mario, and Spla2oon compete with each other at launch, especially if they want to maximize each game's sales potential as each of them are most likely going to be system sellers.

I still don't see what is insulting about the price, its basically a home console that you can also take with you whereever. Portability comes with a price and it still manages to not cross the $300 barrier (which honestly should be the price for all home consoles moving forward, no console is worth over that amount regardless of tech). Not to mention that they have a clear message with what the Switch is and what it can do, which is something they lacked with the Wii U (so many laypeople thought it was an addon to the Wii). So once again, I don't see what the problem is other than people having a confirmation bias against Nintendo

I remember Wii U getting hit with similar criticism though. It was late to current tech by a lot and getting ports like Mass Effect 2 and Batman Arkham City super late. It actually costed relatively more than Switch when you consider both inflation and the fact that 360 had some bundles at $180 back then when Wii U base price was $300. I don't see how Switch price is insulting when again it is one of the cheapest yet and it is not just a home console. It's the future home of every Nintendo console game and all their handheld support. This system is the most they've ever offered for nearly the lowest they've ever charged, and the competition is now out of Black Friday so the prices aren't far off, not to mention generally people understand that a new system is expensive to launch.

I guess I just really don't see how this is worse off than Wii U. I can call it similar, but no way do I see how it would be worse.

I mean I dunno, we'll see how they navigate this year. I'm trying not to be flippant because that would imply that I don't care about them, when really I'm just frustrated that they continue to seem tone deaf to the criticisms that keep coming up with them. I'm just not interested in buying another Nintendo system that has 1-3 big releases a year. I wanted to see that they learned from that. It's too early to know for sure but I'm just not convinced they can steer a ship.

What makes this all sadder is seeing how precious a commodity their games are, and with these new iPhone games, how massive their reach could be. They might get to a point of realizing that they'd rather not wall in their games with under-performing hardware and just transition into being the most successful and coveted game publisher in the world.

Bloodborne is the only PS4 game I could call essential, the rest is going to depend of what type of games you are into and if you ahve a gaming PC.

I'm not going to be the one defending Nintendo's online, because there is not much to defend, they have been severals steps back in general from the competition (Miiverse is genious, though). I'm still in a wait and see situation with some of the Switch proporsals, instead of the autopilot "Nintendo is DOOMED" that seems to be the norm.
