Remember, it's up to us. If Bigfoot exists, then we must preserve his habitat so that future generations may enjoy him. Unless he doesn't exist, in which case they won't.

I can't believe they actually fell for this shit...CNN is such a joke.

Actually they seem pretty skeptical (as well they should be), I think they did a reasonable job of reporting the claims. One thing I find interesting - has it ever been reported what time the "press conference" is supposed to be?

Edit never mind, didn't notice it in the OP, don't know how I missed it :(

Damn . . . I didn't get much done at work today so I don't know if I can spare the time to go to this great press conference.

But damn . . . could there be a better laugh?

So a bunch of guys and I from work are going to stop by the press conference. A few other friends are making plans to do some fake protesting and even though it says press only we'll see if we can make it in. My guess is nothing much will happen, but it should still be fun. I'm glad they made the time during lunch.

I agree with this, but I hope everyone in this thread WANTS it to be true and totally and completely assuredly confirmed. It won't be, I know it won't be, it CAN'T be really, it's not going to happen, but DAMN do I want it to.

X-Files movie viral marketing.
I know you're the resident disbeliever of all things paranormal, and I'm not in any way saying that this is real, but the X-Files movie came out weeks ago. Try to keep up with the times, Ether! *snaps fingers*

Or maybe it's more viral marketing for Splinterheads. The Montauk Monster is a prop for that film.
Was this confirmed? Last I read it was saying it MIGHT be, but nobody could confirm or deny it.

Jesus christ... What the f*ck?

Thanks, I guess.

Edit:
I should mention that I feel like a f*cking fool.

Hey, at least you recognize now that it's a hoax, a lot of people get so attached to a conspiracy theory or hoax they refuse to admit to reality.

I'm working from home today (in Wisconsin, so no chance to see the presser myself), but I'll be F5ing GAF and checking the news for updates.

I'd like to know what the heck is going on!

my guess is the conference goes something like this "lulz that pic was fake BUT we really do have a big foot body in a secert location. All the DNA was contaminated and therefore unusable sorry. We don't want to show the body for fear of someone stealing it."

CNN Headline news just ran this story on TV. I think it might be real, the reporter said he was talking to his friend the leprechan and said "he's all into it."

Personally I hope it goes something like this old joke:
A defendant was on trial for murder in Oklahoma. There was strong evidence indicating guilt, but there was no corpse. In the defense’s closing statement the lawyer, knowing that his client would probably be convicted, resorted to a trick.

"Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, I have a surprise for you all," the lawyer said as he looked at his watch. "Within one minute, the person presumed dead in this case will walk into this courtroom." He looked toward the courtroom door. The jurors, somewhat stunned, all looked on eagerly. A minute passed. Nothing happened.

Finally the lawyer said, "Actually, I made up the previous statement. But you all looked on with anticipation. I, therefore, put it to you that there is reasonable doubt in this case as to whether anyone was killed and insist that you return a verdict of not guilty." The jury, clearly confused, retired to deliberate. A few minutes later, the jury returned and pronounced a verdict of guilty.

"But how?" inquired the lawyer. "You must have had some doubt; I saw all of you stare at the door." Answered the jury foreman: "Oh, we did look. But your client didn’t."

Except for the ending and instead of a murder something like "The fact that you came to this press conference is proof that you believe Bigfoot may exist."

(that is, I hope this happens, or that it turns out to be real and somehow verifiable)

Although I completely doubt the "specimen" is anything but a hoax, I gotta say that's a pretty weak bit of debunking. I mean, I know I carry the proper material to preserve a 7 foot tall 500 lb bigfoot when I go camping but then not everyone is as prepared as I am...

Backflip - Yep, the press conference should be the moment when they're completely exposed as idiots and liars.

well in the pic they have the "body" in a freezer which means its at someones house which mean there are stores around which means some of them might sell dry ice which would be a hell of a lot better than ice cubes.

True but that assumes 1. they know that dry ice is better for preserving a body, and 2 that the "might sell dry ice" stores DO in fact sell it. Again, I don't believe this story is authentic, I'm just saying that's a weak way of debunking it.

granted it is a weak way of debunking but it doesn't help their side either. Go over to the BFRO website they debunked it too and a lot more detail.

We'll see their so called "evidence" in about an hour anyway, I read BFRO's site and they don't really have the ability to prove or disprove it either. Again, I'm NOT defending the georgians, I'm just saying that it's hard to say that a mythical creature being "found" is or is not it without seeing the body. If they don't have the body on hand (or release the DNA to the media for independent analysis) then it's clearly a hoax. If they do, and release it to an independent university for study (As BFRO suggests) then it may be authentic, but I don't expect that to happen.
