Ok so I now finally found the kinetoscope from Cohen. Very cool idea indeed.

I'm a little confused since in my first playthrough I didn't meet any ice enemy and now on my second playthrough (both on normal difficulty) there are lots of them
They appear only after atlas mens stockpile in the bathysphere test drive area is compromised. So if you go there first youll see them sooner.

you need to lockpick a room and then pull a lever to get the item out the bathysphere. but it will be hard to miss once you are in the right area because elizabeth will mention it and point out that you need to access that bathysphere somehow

Looks like I skipped
the entire room you get to when you step in the elevator
. I was looking in all the wrong places, lol.

Is it possible to
never fight a Big Daddy in the game? I really don't want to battle him, especially with what little offensive power I have

Is burial at sea worth playing if I haven't played bioshock 1 yet? (waiting for a sale, always seem to miss them :S)

If you are ruling out the option of ever playing Bioshock 1 it is be doable although to appreciate the lore and reappearances of some of the characters you have to play the first one.

Finished it in 1998 mode, took me 7 hours. Will visit the spoiler thread after I gather my thoughts, but I absolutely loved it

Things I loved in relation to my playthrough:

Masha.

Finding the break the puppy neck break audio tape.

Finding how suchong died.

Finding out more about the song bird

References to many of the BS1 character.

And just the general atmosphere was magnificent.

I haven't played this yet as i left it downloading this morning before work but quick question: Does it feel more like the first half of Infinite or the second half? Because I LOVED the first half of infinite but that game wore out its welcome sometime after the first handful of hours.

It's nothing like Infinite at all. In fact, if I had to compare it to anything, it's kind of like Dishonored.

I would say the first half, if I had to choose from infinite. It's more akin to BS1 in its makeup.

The intensity of the combat has been dialed down considerably.

Yep just avoid him. This time, though, the Daddy doesn't automatically attribute damage to the instigator (i.e. player), so if he isn't looking at you and you attack him from afar, he'll mis-attribute the source of damage to whoever is near him. This means you can piss him off and have him wipe out Splicers, create distractions, etc. If you hit him with the noise maker, Splicers will assemble on him and attack. You can also use Possession on him.

No no NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Don't do it. You have to play Bioshock 1 first. Otherwise you would ruin everything

So got through it the second time. Damn I still missed one audio diary ;(

But still wow, the ending is just wow

Oh boy I'm so glad this DLC exists. Playing through all Bioshock games again now will be awesome once more.

RREEEEALLLLLYYYYY? Even if i just play it normally and not in 1998 mode? I loved dishonored so I might get on it right away.

I personally didn't find the lethal weapons to be nearly as useful as the nonlethal ones, and it's incredibly easy to die if you're outnumbered. It's a straight up stealth game.

I only played it on Hard and 1998 Mode though, so I don't know what it's like on other difficulties.

I realized after I explored every area before going to the Silver fin and realizing I had to backtrack that all my stealth was irrelevant on easy. One good shot kills most enemies, you can run past a lot of obstacles and once you get to Columbia shotgun ammo is plentiful. I'm sure when I go back to play on 1998 mode it'll be a different game, but now that I know the lay of the land I won't be as likely to feel stuck and angry.

Holy crap, what an intro. (Both the DLC and the thread, great work Elzar)

The game is certainly slightly harder, I've spent most of the game so far with just barely any health left.

Amateur.

You start on 1998 mode?
I didn't die much, I just noticed that the unskippable cutscene played even after my first time of dying. Seems like a weird thing to do considering the main game and part one of the DLC didn't have it. And no, I played it on normal, because the gameplay of Infinite and its DLC have long ago become quite tedious. I only play it for the story telling moments which again have been great.

Um. Okay, I've getting the items needed to
Fix the Lutece device.

How do you jump to the
Bathysphere?

Edit: Nevermind, you have a
skyhook!

Just beat the game on 1998 mode in a little more than 2.5 hours. As long as you know where you have to go (and aren't try to go for the voxophones achievement), it's ridiculously easy--belligerent enemies don't even attack you if they bump into you. I never even used a noisemaker.

My first playthrough took me 8~hours or so. I did that in one sitting, lol. Well, mostly one sitting. Take off an hour of faffing about though because I was trying to find a mod for one of the plasmids that I couldn't get when I first found it. Second playthrough would be so much less because yeah, I would probably avoid engagement with the enemies.

So... I have not played Episodes 1-2 yet (and haven't even bought them). Would it be much better for me to play the original Bioshock (despite already knowing the ending) and Bioshock 2 before playing Burial at Sea? I played Bioshock Infinite without playing either of them and do still plan on playing them whether it be before or after Burial at Sea.

Just finished it about half an hour ago. Found all the audio diaries, too.

Overall, I enjoyed it, but the stealth system was heavily flawed, as the encounter design was clearly not tailored towards it. Enemies respawned in areas I'd already cleared, and some rooms had about 8 enemies in them, all in close proximity.

Also, the Peeping Tom plasmid was incredibly overpowered, especially after upgrading it. Towards the end, I was sprinting through most rooms while invisible, and it was impossible to run out of Eve due to cigarettes being available in the vending machines. Not to mention that you could stand still and stay invisible forever.

Still, it was better than episode one, but I do feel that the whole DLC was wasted potential.

Oh, and the ending, well...I'm still trying to wrap my head around it.

It depends how much of the story of Bioshock 1 you know. IMO, it's pretty crucial to have played Bioshock 1 before playing Burial at Sea Episode 2 or at least know the big key characters and plots/twists. I think you can skip Bioshock 2 (in as far as having to play it for BaS to make sense).

Am I the only one who likes to "Eventually" be OP in a game? Its just fun abusing AI with OP mechanics.

Maybe if they took out infinite invisibility when standing still in 1998 mode...but it's fine in the normal/hard mode imo.

Everything doesn't always have to be a tough challenge to be fun.
