Bioshock Infinite - DLC Discussion and Speculation (Unmarked Spoilers)

Fair warning, this is about DLC intended for people who have completed the game.
This thread will have UNMARKED SPOILERS for Bioshock Infinite.

I felt like this could use its own thread. Discussions about what Infinite's forthcoming DLC could feature have sprouted up on/off in the existing two threads for the last couple weeks.

Parts of Infinite's story and world definitely felt unexplored or unexplained (and that definitely adds mystery to the whole adventure, which is fine). I'd certainly love for the DLC to delve into those things though. Songbird, the definite origin of Liz's powers, Fink's retrieval of tech/art from other worlds, etc.

I believe Levine confirmed in a comment recently that Songbird would be further explored in DLC.

What do you guys want and expect from the forthcoming DLC?

Which characters do you think will feature in the DLC?

Who do you think we'll play as in the DLC?

Discuss.

Edit- (my thoughts from a post I made below):

The Booker who died in the Vox takeover timeline never met Elizabeth, right? It might be been interesting to see what happened to him, but it'd suck to be without Elizabeth and the tear mechanic. They could still give someone else to hang out with I guess, maybe Fitzroy?

This is what's getting me really interested in this game's DLC. Liz/Tears + having a companion are so central to this game, to the point that people have posted about how lonely they felt on replays or during segments where she's gone.

I imagine DLC will somehow involve having such a companion around again, and I figure it'll definitely be some version of Liz, considering how much work went into getting her right the first time.

1. Playing as some other character (a new Booker entirely?) that winds up in the main Infinite storyline and takes charge of Liz after Infinite's main Booker protagonist accidentally gets killed?

2. Or perhaps the opposite: The scenario starts when Liz dies midway through Infinite, but just as another Liz appears from another universe. Story goes off on a wild new tangent with this new mirror Liz in tow.

i'm hoping we play as Robert Lutece. Maybe see what happened to Lutece during the early days with his twin and his relationship to Comstock and Booker. It would be very revealing and eye opening, imo. A pure adventure game would be amazing.

Of course, I'm guessing one of them involves the Martyr timeline where you see more of the Vox Populi and see how that Booker died.

I want a DLC in which we play as Booker when he becomes the Martyr while giving more time to Daisy Fitzroy to develop since we didn't see much of her.

Edit: I hope they introduce new vigors.

I'm with this. I'd like to see his world since it seems he had more compassion than his double which might indicate his world was slightly softer, might even have a more compassionate version of Comstock.

good call. iirc, she said she saw us die. maybe she throws shit at us instead.

What about Fitzroy's sidekick? The man standing next to her when she kicks Booker off the ship?

We never hear anything about him.

Def. more Songbird

I'd like to just explore Columbia more, now that the game has told it's tale. It's an amazing setting.

Be pretty great to play as songbird. Maybe they'll make the Booker = songbird a reality then have you fight off another Booker so it's Booker on Booker action. Booker.

I want to see that entire area during the debut demo as a playable area.

If 5-6 games' worth of content were truly scrapped during Infinite's development process, they have a fucking arsenal of assets/ideas to play with right now and massage into passable DLC.

The notion of 'infinite' worlds and possibilities makes shoehorning all those old scrapped ideas into the DLC a very real possibility.

I' pretty convinced Comstock House was intentionally terrible (limited weapons and ammo, boring fights with more enemies at once with more health who just rush straight at you) in an attempt to make you subconsciously like Elizabeth more by making the combat good again when she rejoined you.

The stuff websaw in trailers and the like that didn't make out in will be the dlc. Elizabeth just cosplay as abe Lincoln!

I have zero interest in the vox as it's barely fleshed during the main game. It's a giant excuse to habe the game move forward and add some diversity to the game. More Songbird would definitely be great but It would nice to have the DLC cover how it was created. It's already bren established that Booker is killed by the Bird during the failed rescue attempts.

Doesn't he team up with Slate in this timeline?

Inspired by other ideas in this thread...

Revolution DLC: Play as the Booker who, failing to retrieve Elizabeth from Monument Island before the Founders relocated her to Comstock House, instead turns to the Vox Populi and leads their revolution in an attempt to get the girl. He, of course, dies at the end, so we can finally see how this played out.

It's also an opportunity to provide more insights into Daisy Fitzroy, who could function as our Elizabeth character, fighting at our side. Perhaps in lieu of the Tear mechanic, we can point at items of interest and direct her to attack. She could call in airships and such to strike at our behest.

Imagine: You point at an enemy embankment.

BOOKER: "Daisy, now!"

Daisy: "Open fire!"

*Daisy commands a Vox zeppelin to rain down fire on the enemy embankment, allowing you to proceed forward*

Perhaps the revolution could be set in the area from the E3 2011 demo, a residential area overrun by the Vox, the buildings draped in their red banners. Maybe they can bring back that striking visual of the black-and-white projector shown on the red banner, something they scrapped from the E3 2011 demo.

Whatever happens, in the end, Songbird could come back, giving him more development. And Songbird, I suppose, could be what killed Martyr Booker.

EDIT: Oh, and Saltonstall could meet his untimely demise in this DLC, as well.

5 man kill streak

Songbird ready. I repeat. Songbird at your mark.

7 man kill streak.

Zepellin + MechaWashington Patriots standing by.

Some back story on Songbird, Lady Comstock and "Boy of Silence"(didn't know there was more than one before I looked at the wiki) would be nice. Also, no Vox Popli, for Christ's sake they arch sucked up so much time already. Pre-uprising Columbia = best Columbia.

The way the story is set up, the Letuces can take Dewitt just about anywhere from any time during the events of Infinite, so why not? Some part of Songbird is human and it loves Liz...

Yeah, once I finished this the DLC chapters jumped up in my "Most Antivipated" list. I'm talking next to full games like Last Of Us. Yeah, I'm crazy hyped to see what they do.

I feel like one dedicated to Vox Booker wouldn't shake out to well. You'd probably be going through the same areas, fighting the same guys, with of course the same powers.

They could build on Daisy more as a character, but I think we understand her pretty well already.

And what do you do with her from a gameplay standpoint? She throws you things like Liz? I feel like that chips off a bit of what makes Liz special. Obviously they wouldn't go so far as to make it where Daisy can open tears, but I still think it might add up to a reskin basically.

So I kinda think that's a bad idea, myself. I'm open to basically anything else they could have planned though.

I feel I got all I needed from the Vox arch; Daisy was maybe a bit underdeveloped but I wouldn't say I'm dying to know more about her. Plus a focus on Vox and the revolution would probably mean a lot of combat rooms, and at this rate I think I'm more interested in a narrative/exploratory bits of content than lengthy encounters with waves of enemies.

edit; beaten like comstock

I want to see that entire area during the debut demo as a playable area.
Besides Saltonstall himself I don't know why people regret not getting what we saw in that 2010 demo, besides the ability to melee people on skylines and those giant cannon obstacles. The map design was just as linear as it is in the final game, it seemed that you basically fought anybody and everybody like in the original Bioshock, Elizabeth's powers were nearly identical to yours and it looked scripted out the ass. I'd love to find out more about the founders beyond Comstock and Fink, but that's all from what the first demo showed us.

The 2011 E3 demo on the other hand? I'd love to play around in that huge, multi-tiered map, even if it has to wind up being a PC-exclusive DLC due to how huge and memory-consuming it looks.

Man, watching the E3 demo after beating the game makes me feel a little disappointed in what was essentially scrapped. The final game equivalent is a really cut down version of that...

I worry that the DLCs will go with the obvious choices:

Martyr Booker/Vox revolution (ugh)
Preston Downs
Some sort of Arena

Any sort of arena/horde type of thing would surprise me given the way some people are harping on the combat and how violent the game is. Unless it's like half-way done and the first thing they're releasing, I don't think well get anything of that ilk.

Would love to see some more of Rapture with Infinite's engine.

I would also be happy with some more content featuring the Lettuces. Perhaps in another timeline where you follow one of both of them.

Multiplayer. I'm serious. There should be a single flag CTF with Elizabeth as the flag/vip. One player will be Elizabeth, and be able to function as a medic class essentially. One group defends her until their reinforcements get there, the others have to pick her up and carry her to a waiting airship. Just pull out the larger maps from the single player. With the skyrails, powers, and chance of becoming a handiman (similar to tank in L4D), it could be a blast.

I'm hoping one of the three DLCs doesn't even take place in Columbia. Between tears and the Luteces, almost anything between Wounded Knee and 1984 could fit in.

I'd take more Rapture but I don't expect it, we already got a sequel and excellent DLC.

Liz/Tears + having a companion are so central to this game, to the point that people have posted about how lonely they felt on replays or during segments where she's gone.

I knew there was going to be a point where I was going to lose Liz and was dreading it the whole time. Was so glad that we rejoined relatively soon afterwards.

All the alternate universes really opens the team to make whatever DLC they want. It's kind of nuts. I hope they take advantage of that freedom for at least one of the DLC content.

I'm not that interested in Vox Populi content, like many posters here. I'd be interested in DLC where you play as early Booker in the times of Wounded Knee or Booker as he goes down the road to becoming Comstock. Or completely different characters altogether that supplement the world.

I would like to see multiplayer where up to four alternate universe Liz & co. (Good Liz, Vox Liz, Bad Ending Liz, Something else Liz) have their own legion of zepplins and military all blowing the shit out of each other. Each player could choose from multiple classes (melee, stealth, soldier, vigors) and spec/upgrade their own character and all fight to be THE ONE true universe. Kind of serious but mostly not. I would play this though.

The suggestion of Martyr Booker DLC makes the most sense:

- Set during a timeline in which the third Booker failed to reach Elizabeth at Monument Island and turned to the Vox Populi for help, leading their revolution and becoming a martyr figure, it's a golden opportunity to flesh out Daisy Fitzroy and her followers, as well as this third Booker who left behind audio recordings.

- Since this Booker didn't reach Elizabeth, he won't be able to access her tear powers. Instead, Daisy Fitzroy could be his AI companion and call in Vox support. This will spice up battles with a new array of special powers.

- The big game hunter and legendary marksman, Preston Downs, was hired by Comstock in the original timeline to track down Daisy. Let's say that holds true for the revolution timeline. This means Preston Downs could be a Slate/Fink-style boss.

- Perhaps you could confront Saltonstall and even scalp him to prove yourself to the Vox, explaining his scalp found pinned to a board later on. Saltonstall is still a prominent politician in Columbia, even though we don't encounter him in the main narrative.

- This third Booker died a martyr for the cause. Perhaps he lost his life to Songbird when he finally reached Comstock House, where Elizabeth was relocated, according to one audio log. This could be an opportunity to battle Songbird, fleshing out that character further.

- Breaking it into a three-act structure like Minerva's Den in the BioShock 2 DLC, one part of the DLC could feature Booker working his way into the underbelly of Columbia, asking around for the Vox Populi, eventually reaching their hideout.

The more I think about this, the more I want to see it. Delivering on Daisy Fitzroy, Preston Downs, Saltonstall, etc, in the Martyr Booker storyline seems like a solid way to deliver on various "hooks" left in the main narrative.
