Bioshock Infinite - DLC Discussion and Speculation (Unmarked Spoilers)

Definitely need some backstory on songbird.

The election stuff with Saltonstall could take place in a universe where the revolution was successful and not as destructive (or took place earlier before Booker arrived?). Comstock, Fink, Fitzroy, and anybody else important would be gone so new people would try to lead Columbia.

There's so many ideas they could use: Booker as the Vox martyr, Songbird, Saltonstall, Preston Downs, etc but I do hope they do something different. I just want to see and explore more of Columbia. And since they cut 5-6 games of content, I'm sure they could you use and adapt some of that content.

I really want to know more about the founders and about Columbia. Columbia as a city fascinates me, but there's still a lot I wish we knew about its history and its inhabitants. I understand why we didn't get everything yet since the second half of Infinite is more about Booker and Elizabeth and her powers rather than the city itself, but I think DLC is the perfect avenue to flesh out some background lore.

We know Fink and Comstock, but I want to discover more about the others:

Rreretwre.jpg

Who they were and why there chosen. And maybe get a glimpse into Columbia at an earlier date. Like shortly after they separated themselves from the U.S. and see how it grew to become what it is at the start of Infinite.

Where's the proof that Levine said that this dlc will be related to the main narrative/events in any way?

Also, I don't believe there is any proof that all three add-ons will be additional episodes. So I'm worried there will be a bullshit arena or weapons upgrade pack or something. It's the only reason i haven't bought the season pass yet. All Im interested in are full blown minervas den esque add-ons.

Has anyone tried twitting Levine to clarify this?

I worry that the DLCs will go with the obvious choices:

Martyr Booker/Vox revolution (ugh)
Preston Downs
Some sort of Arena

Ha ha, that would be terrible. I feel like we know all the important things about Martyr Booker and Preston Downs via voxophones and both are connected to the Vox Populi which I think are boring and bland as hell.
I want something new that mabye adds a new perspetive on the game's events. And I'd like them to go completely bonkers with the time travel and parallel universe stuff.

As others have mentioned (I believe), Ken Levine has only, to date, mentioned wanting to make Songbird into a more complete character via DLC. Its the only DLC hint he's ever given.

Based on the "C.A.G.E" document, though, I suspect Songbird will be revealed to be yet another Comstock (not Booker... literally another Comstock), perhaps paying pennance for his life? Likewise, beyond the CAGE picture, there are the fact that Robo-Comstock's serve as the Songbird's summoning device.

I just want more Liz and Songbird!

Wounded Knee DLC

Carry out the Wounded Knee Massacre!

This would be hilarious. No Elizabeth, no Luteces, no tears, no Songbird, nothing at all about Columbia. Just you, the 7th and Slate murdering Indians in a shockingly realistic and racist 4 hour campaign. At the end of which, you find the preacher and get baptized.

What's funny is so many people bought the season pass (myself included) that we'd have to at least try it.

No, Levine has actually confirmed that it will be story based dlc akin to Bioshock 2 Minerva Den. I'm just wondering if it will actually deal with any of the main plot, or just be a side plot of it's own

preston downs is one I'd like seeing more of.

really I'd enjoy a lot playing through short stories of other people in columbia, I wouldn't mind if these were like "side missions" that booker took off-camera in the game or something.

I really want something set in the Old Elizabeth timeline. I want to see what the rest of the city looks like if Comstock House is a crazy asylum thing.

I want to play through Columbia as pieces of it fall and crumble to the ground/ocean below. Maybe as a rogue member of the Vox or something trying to escape.

possible blasphemy but this is one game i wouldn't mind a horde mode, elizabeth toggled on and off for tears and replenishing supplies, lots of skylines, etc. basically, want to fight more handymen en masse

A call back to Infinite original concept of having enemies that are deformed and fused with various faces and features would be an interesting feature!

Nice. How long was Minerva's Den?
I really need to finish Bioshock 2 someday.

I'm with this. I'd like to see his world since it seems he had more compassion than his double which might indicate his world was slightly softer, might even have a more compassionate version of Comstock.

I don't think Comstock even exists in Robert Lutece's world, or at least that Comstock isn't a big player in any kind of way. Rosalind Lutece invented the technology to make Columbia a possibility, in Robert Lutece's timeline Columbia doesn't exist.

Maybe you should play the game again, since that's like 50% of Infinite.

I'm drawing a massive blank...who was Preston Downs?

Also, yeah, I've heard so, so much about Minerva's Den. I really should give Bioshock 2 a whirl, and then the Den.

unless i missed it, you can't go to the ferris wheel at soldiers field... so... i wanna go there.

also, more world building for sure. something we don't see is a school. which would be pretty interesting. i'm talking preschool and elementary.

also... a church, right. besides the welcome center... i'm sure they could whip up the "columbia cathedral" for a good dlc.

flesh out the underground religions and the religious strife of columbia, build on that theme.

maybe as leader of the vox, as booker you have to organize a book burning of all those "voice of the prophet" books. go around getting npcs to join or something.

iirc, that cowboy-ish dude who was hunting down Vox Populi. you only heard his Voxophones.

Ah! Coming back to me. I gotta do a replay of this fucking game!

Bring back that E3 2011 level!!

Transforming part or all of it into 'an alternate Columbia' seems like a totally feasible concept.

Also, does anyone remember Shawn (Sean?) from Irrational posting in the other thread about how there was once a complex system in place re: floating chunks of Columbia? Mini-islands that Booker had to traverse? But that it got scrapped due to almost everyone getting actual vertigo from experiencing it?

I'd love to see that make it into DLC, haha.

Personally I want to see DLC that extends the campaign. More expansive areas, maybe new objectives and audio logs to collect. I really hate DLC that's on the main screen.

Definitely expect there to be DLC about the Booker who joined the Vox.

For everyone who wants this, do you imagine we'll end up playing as him? The Vox Booker? Or someone else watching his story unfold?

Or perhaps as our own main game Booker who spills over into the Vox Booker's universe, but before Vox Booker actually dies?

I actually would like to see the Booker martyr storyline pursued, since the Vox Populi story arc was the least explored and most unsatisfying part of the game. Fitzroy, outside of the voxophones, had no character development and the “see, the Vox are just as bad” thing seemed cheap and too convienient to the point of being insulting. FFS it almost plays into the racist ideals of Comstock since the Vox turn into murderous rebels the second the revolution starts.

Then again, I don't want that because I guarantee it would be a few hours of shoot rooms in re-used art assets in Fink Town.

Interesting DLC idea

I like this suggestion. I think missing out on the ability of the tears would be an adjustment to get used to -- perhaps a tough one. But if Irrational can find a way to alternate the game play -- either through your Daisy Fitzroy-as-companion suggestion, or by some other means, then I'm all for it.

I also wonder if in one of the DLCs (likely not the first one), if we'll be able to bring in stuff from Rapture (Big Daddies) to help us via the tears, or perhaps modern weaponry, or just some really off-the-wall stuff.

I'd love it if one of the DLCs was just a love letter to video games, where the world of Bioshock Infinite doesn't just lead to more lighthouses leading to cities controlled by megalomaniacal men, but instead, it could lead to other video game worlds from all kinds of video games (Irrational would have to make it the "generic" version of an iconic video game like Hyrule for IP reasons, but I think you get my drift).

...But reading what I just wrote, that sounds like it would be a nightmare to make from a design and mechanics standpoint. Well, a man can dream...

Set up some DLC in one of the alternate timelines. Add a new mechanic based on being able to open tears at will, giving the combat a slightly Portal-like edge. Bonus points if you can tie the DLC events to something that happened in the main plot as a result of utterly destroying the timeline by opening a thousand tears all over the place.

YES

I want the DLC to focus on the weird shit - Songbird, the Luteces, the tears, the general mythology.

Fitzroy and the Revolution? That may be likely, but it isn't at all appealing to me. I wanted a bit more Fitzroy and Vox Populi stuff in the game proper so as to make the story thematically fuller and clearer. Removed from that I don't know if it really carries any significance or intrigue.

The game should use additional content to play up the goofy sci-fi and give us more rollercoasters to fly around on.

Honestly I just really want more of the world building stuff. Keep the enemy encounters to a minimum (and please no more ghost mom type battles) and give me more of this great world you created. If we do get Vox stuff make it just as good as BI beginning. Show us more of the slums and how horrible shit really gets down there. Also a DLC focused on the Lutece twins would be amazing, although having them shoot bang folks would seem pretty out of character.

On the Salton subject anyone remember the E3 demo or whatever when you first encounter him and he kinda looses his shit and his eyes bug out and glow while the environment kinda changes abit. I would love a horror themed DLC with him as the big bad or even those elements brought back. While Columbia was beautiful and all some of the areas you went to gave a real eerie feeling. I know after the baptism and when Comstock address the police I got this unnerving feeling. From the people who spend their time praising presidents like Jesus to the poor police man I killed not knowing I wouldn't be openly attacked afterwards. That last one made me feel horrible and creeped out being surrounded bu kneeling police while standing over a dead guys body.

How I wish....kind of wrote the idea of this off though, given the DLC will likely still feature a gunman as the protagonist, whether Booker, alternate-Booker/Comstock or some other person capable of gunning down tons of foes.

Explore more of the 1984 version of Columbia under the rule of Old Elizabeth.

I like to think that if Comstock House was as messed up as it was, then the rest of Columbia was similarly warped, like a more functioning version of Rapture floating in the air.

But just generally exploring alternate timelines and sort of "What if?" scenarios would be pretty fun.

I was hoping there was a part where you go through alternative universe 80s as teased in the early gameplay demos and even the actual game. I actually thought that's where it would turn out elizebeth was from. Hopefully they will include this in the dlc

I want DLC focusing on these guys, I loved the creepiness presented throughout this part of the level.

Flesh some of their backstory out.

I also want the splicers to come back (they were originally considered for the game see the art in the making of book) and a restored focus on hyper Americanism rather than religious cult stuff

Sadly, Vox Booker seems like the most likely subject. I found the entire Vox conflict boring compared to the overall mystery, so I hope that's not the case.

I mean, it's an easy choice.

- No Elizabeth = Less work
- Lots of asset re-use = Less work
- Basic plotline already sketched out = Less work

yeah i found that part of the game to be the weakest.

All I'm saying is that if we get three Minerva's Den esque expansions ill be beyond ecstatic.

Heck ill even put up with a shitty arena add on if I at least get two.

Bioshock 2 was good, Minerva's Den made it great.

If we can get that level of content for DLC this will be my game of the generation(though it kinda already is).

EDIT: how much was Minerva's den when it was first released? Comparing that to the price of the season pass(season pass being 2 for the price of 3) we might be able to speculate how much content to expect from Irrational based on how much they thought that level of content was worth last go around.
