I never used Undertow or Charge, and Possession was too expensive and too short to be worth it.

So Shock or Fire I guess.

Undertow. Most fun to use for me.
No, I'm not asking which power was most fun. I'm asking which BOTTLE DESIGN you like best. :)

For example, Devil's Kiss has DAT ASS and is so METAL.

But Murder of Crows has the cool crow-shaped bottle.

Charge has the ram's head for its bottle.

Undertow has this sort of kraken deal going.

Man, these bottles. I change my mind, I want -these- as merchandise. I wanna line my shelves with them.

Possession with the "use less salt" and possess humans boosts was probably my most used Vigor. It takes out an enemy every time you use it and draws fire away from you at the same time.

OK, guys, this is the hardest decision you'll ever have to make.

What ONE vigor BOTTLE DESIGN do you esteem above all others?

Devil's Kiss, son.

Or maybe Murder of Crows.

Undertow is cool, too.

But Charge has dem horns.

...

FUCK.

i would buy the Devil's Kiss for the boobs. but I would also get the Crows cuz I love the power.

the Songbird Ultimate Edition came with a mini keychain of the Crow bottle so I'll settle for that.

I'd probably get the Devil's Kiss bottle if I had the choice 'cause it looks cool. If I were to acquire the powers myself, Possession could sure do a lot for me.

Speaking of Possession, try using it on vending machines -- they'll pump out a pile of money!

I know it's page 43 and all (superior 50 ppp), but the info in the OP is amazing. I think I have a good grasp on the factual happenings.
Now I can start pondering the philosophy more.

I was wondering if Slate's head had something to do with phrenology.

There is a phrenology study of Comstock being shown in the Fraternal Order of the Raven: They show a phrenology chart, then picture of Comstock's head, then pictures of the heads of several Indians.

I think what they were getting at was that they were doubting the racial purity of Comstock, especially given that Booker was in fact part Native American.

There's also a preoccupation with (invasive) phrenology in the Mind in Revolt story. They definitely wanted to draw on as many topical themes as possible.

Finished 1999 today. The hardest fight for me, weirdly, was the handyman at Fink's place. Very few problems with the ghost, and the final battle was a breeze. Go figure. Got the scavenger achievement also.

Just "Heartbreaker" to go (will flick difficulty to easy for this) and I've 100%ed this.

The art book shows several different versions of the vigor bottles. It is one of the best artbooks for a game IMO.

Yeah, I loved those pages. Clearly a lot of work went into those.

The enemy idea where he threw vigors to buff people sounded cool too... Wouldn't mind if they resurrected it for DLC.

Possession was short? Did you buy the Possession for less upgrade?

Undertow and Charge together were incredible. In the final big battle I was pulling two or three enemies at me constantly while standing amidst Shock Jockey traps and then using Charge on the enemies. It was freakin incredible.

yeah he has some awesome design too!
I would love an old tyme toymaker psycho like was in the art book. I guess it is a bit similar to Sander Cohen but it is still a cool idea!

Guys, I don't know what to do.

I can't stop thinking about this game. I want to do a second playthrough, but just like Silent Hill 2's ending did to me, I don't want to play games at all and just let it sink in. Do I start my 1999 playthrough now, or do it a week from now?

I am in the same boat and the loop requires you to do 1999 now...

unless you are trying to create some sort of paradox!

I liked the design of Vigor bottles and Booker's hands going crazy is always fun to watch, but it made me realize that there was something much more brutal about Plasmids that I appreciated. They made a bigger deal of the protagonist's "genetic code being rearranged" in BioShock 1 than in Infinite.

I feel as though Plasmids have a more permanent effect on one's body compared to Vigors, which almost seem temporary.

I guess we'll never know since it was almost 100% glossed over how they are made and what they do other than "They are this worlds Plasmids"

You'd figure an explanation would be there for why it doesn't make people insane like Plasmids do, or why you drink it instead of inject it, or what the hell salts even are.

Did I miss something? Or did they really drop the ball on what was a huge part of the Bioshock universe?

I thought someone said they were most likely designed from tears that fink saw of Rapture in the game. Can't remember but we do have 3 story DLC pieces so I hope they explain about the world a bit more in those.

so I just fired up Injustice on my iPhone and was greeted with this intro.

what is going on guys? how does Lex Luther fit into all of this.

Lex is obviously a man, who probably knows of a lighthouse, who runs a city(i think he was president actually)

THUS LEX IS BOOKER IS COMSTOCK IS BOOKER IS LEX IN ALTERNATE DIMENSIONS!
woah

DLC will explain everything.

Its funny because I think im getting to a point where I just reaaaally hope the DLC is awesome and am almost worried that my hype is too high and I will be disappointed... But Then i remember, Ken Levine... And I just hope for a bunch of other future songs redone olde timey!

They give your powers like plasmids, but again, plasmids is what helped cause the fall of rapture yet Vigors seem to not be affecting society in Columbia at all in the same way. Most people just look at it and think it's a neat magic trick.

I seriously doubt they're going to explain vigors in a paid-DLC.

I am not sure as to if it was plasmids or if it was adam that caused the downfall of rapture, I guess they are the same thing though. And who knows, a few voxaphones may explain it in DLC! Also, there may be another timeline where vigors are abused. You are right though, i can only think of the bird dudes that would seem like "splicers"

Alright. So I just finished it and I'm kind of confused. Read the OP and still have some questions.

This whole game takes place because of a paradox, right?

Booker = Comstock

But Comstock is sterile so he steals the daughter of an alternate timeline version of himself? Why?

If i remember correctly, he sees that the prophecy of the mountains of fire stuff isn't carried out by him but instead it's elizabeth who carries it out. Of course, Lutece is interested in helping because opening a tear to get Anna will also allow her brother to come over.

1) I think it'd be more accurate to say that the game is a timeline of the events leading up to a paradox since the paradox doesn't exist until Elizabeth drowns Comstock!Booker in the ending.

2)Comstock firmly believes in the "archangel" and the prophecy. He desperately wants an heir to lead Columbia, and some adopted kid wasn't going to cut it.

he wants someone to follow in his foosteps, who better than his own blood? it's a little far fetched, but that's the reason.

They sort of handwave it away by suggesting that they're mostly used for novelty entertainment (like at the carnival at the beginning) and that Booker is just getting high-potency versions.

I kind of doubt they'll explain them as well, it seems like they're content with leaving them as a background part of the lore but not a critical part of the story. Honestly, I'm not sure what they could add without retreading a lot of the same concepts that they did in Rapture.

You are right though, i can only think of the bird dudes that would seem like "splicers"

The firemen and Slate use them too, but yeah, it's less common than in the previous games.

Yeah I think it's essentially just a case of dropping the ball. The Vigors should be a huge deal in a place like Columbia - even more so than in Rapture!

It just seems silly to steal the kid of an alternate timeline version of yourself because you went crazy.

Also why is Comstock so old and bearded when you meet him? Shouldn't they be the same age?

This is explained in the game. The machine that controls the tears also rapidly ages and damages people. Comstock is older than Booker because of that. It seems silly to us, but I imagine Comstock didn't have many close associates and being infertile meant he had little in the way of options for having a biological child. He genuinely cares for Liz even if he's off his rocker.

Exposure to the siphon aged him. One of the Voxophones explains this.

Gotcha.

Yeah, it's silly. Cool if people like it but I felt like it was a waste of time since the end result is nothing actually happens since Booker/Comstock is dead and Elizabeth never exists because of that.
