In-fact reading their announcement on steam it says if you have Bios hock1 and Bio schok 2 and/or Minerva's Den you get the upgrade free after release. That and/or may mean you only need Den or Bio Shock 2. Not both, but I got them both anyways.
Awesome. Wonder how it'll look on Neo. Anyway, lots of games for me to chose from this Black Friday. Hopefully there's a good sale on this.
Free PC upgrades for owners of Bioshock 1,2 and Minerva's Den
well slap me sideways, ill take it!
edit: wait, do i need to own all three of those already? if i dont own minervas den, does that mean im excluded from the free upgrade?
So PC pretty much gets the Bioshock Collection for less than $10 if you buy it during the Steam sale right now. What a win.
Also, the game that needs the most work is the first Bioshock. In addition to the new textures and high resolutions and all that, they need to add:
- All the PS3 exclusive DLC
- Steam Achievements
- Steam Cloud support
- Polish up the controller support.
- Address the 30 fps physics.
For Bioshock 2:
- Fix the vending machine sounds
And that's it as far as I'm aware.
EDIT: Oh yes, if possible, an FOV option would be nice!
Yup. The combat is so good compared to the first one and infinite.Bioshock 2 is still my favorite. Such an underrated game.

Cosigned! Much better combat, moral choices that actually have some consequences, far more gameplay choices outside of direct combat - planning traps etc. Great characters as well.
It's big problem was it started very slow and I think that put a lot of people off, but it really found it's feet in Pauper's Drop, then pacing from then on was outstanding. Siren's Alley is my favourite Bioshock level.
Not 0% chance but EA have said they don't see the point in releasing remasters so it's unlikely.
With this and the Skyrim upgrade, I appreciate the trend of the PC versions of these games getting a free upgrade.
Bioshock 2. Now... This is easier. The gameplay is FAR better (smoother and more streamlined). No point to argue. But, by the time you hit Bioshock 2, you are sick and tired of Bioshock visual and levels. And Bioshock 2 adds NOTHING to renew the environement. It's the same (not really but everything looks exactly the same) with a much better gameplay. Also, the story is... Nonsensical. It litteraly invalidates the best part of the original game's narrative. It's very confusing for fans and it's a backstab to the only good thing they remember about the original at this point. Skip Bioshock 2 or play it VERY spaced out after Bioshock to have forgot the story details and the environments. Minerva's Den DLC is amazing thought. You can basicaly play only this.
I'd imagine it's the story/world. Both are huge factors in the enjoyment of Bioshock 1 and Infinite (for me at least). The appeal of Rapture and Columbia is coming to this strange new place and seeing the story in the world, 2 just uses the world you've already been to and tacks stuff on top of itHeh 2 is my favourite too. I can never comprehend why so many seem to hate it, to the point of denying its existence.
It might not have resonated for you personally but it most definitely did for myself and lots of others. So many great moments in Bio 2
Any details on the graphical work going into 1 and 2?

I'll buy it again... In 2017 for $20.
This is definitely why it's not been BC on Xbone then I'm guessing.
But I will get it to replay through 1 and 2 and give Infinite another chance
