Birdemic 2: The Ressurection Trailer

I've seen the first three times so I'm absolutely in for this. I just hope that it's bad in the same way as the first, instead of trying to be bad. The fact that the first was so earnest and thought it had a deep message is what really made it gold.

There's an Indiegogo campaign as well: http://www.indiegogo.com/thisisbirdemic

I dunno you guys. You can usually on strike this kind of gold once.

That's a good point, BUT James Nguyen has that unique skill* that should make it just as enjoyable, though not a "genuine" previously undiscovered cult classic with no intention of being one.

* Stubborn, thinks he's good, has a "vision", has a political tinge that he'll have to insert, the only problem is that cast and crew need to listen to what he wants and NOT improvise or "improve", or be self conscious of the crappiness.

Man my wife has you beat at least have a dozen and numerous times with different commentary tracks, though I think only once with James as it made her fall asleep, to be fair the actors one is pretty funny.

Rifftrax version of the first one is genius.

It's like they're purposely sabotaging their audio!

This is the kind of movie where I imagine they just use the microphone built into the camera for the entire shoot. The first one seemed that way at least.

Yeah, but I think Severin might be funding some of this for exclusive rights, just a hunch I know the first one has done well for them.

Oh the acting on this seems intentionally bad
BUT
Rob is back! FUCK YEAH
Hanging Out With Your Family Guy is back with a new song! DOUBLE FUCK YEAH!
More awkward white people dancing! YESSS!!!

I'm afraid they're going to be too self-consious

Yeah, it does seem that way, I mean great schlock comes from sincerely and honest attempts at acting...or not giving a shit and being like Steven Seagal when he wouldn't dub his own voice. Intentional bad movies often suck. Though what exactly was Snakes on a Plane, because I actually liked it and thought it was well done.

It definitely seems self-aware and is bringing back a lot of elements from the original. Still, it will be interesting to see a bad sequel that's not as far removed from the original as, say, Manos or Hobgoblins.

The recent Birdemic news got me to buy the Birdemic EP from Amazon. Finally, the full 5:48 cut of Just Hangin' Out I didn't know I needed.

I'm also concerned that the actors are going to be trying to deliberately ham it up or something. In all the interviews with the actors for the first movie, they have made it clear that Nguyen demanded that they read their lines as they were written and exactly how he wanted them to. Hopefully he will still be able to make them go with his "artistic vision" so we can get another classic failure.

It is a concern but some of the actors I don't think know how to ham it up. It is hard to stumble into 'so bad, it's good' territory. Some movies have tried.

I hope he still has his Mustang. It's a plug-in hybrid.

I also hope the blonde girl's mother is back. She was wonderful in the first movie.

No Birdman!?

We attended the San Francisco premiere. It was fun! The movie has more money behind it than the first, but no more talent. We worked with the producer (Jeff Gross) to film most of the proceedings, which was a lot of fun. We only had 2 iPhones to work with, but I think it came out pretty well. The entire cast and crew was in attendance (minus the new blonde girl), so we got to meet most of them. Got James' card too.

If you like Q+A-type stuff and/or Birdemic, you can watch the premiere highlights here or the full show (with the full Q+A and more of the post-show activity) here.

Thanks for the footage!

So what did you think of the movie? I couldn't really make up anything about the movie itself from the video. How does it compare to the first movie? Can you tell a little bit more about the acting? Do they still actually try to act, but fail horribly or do they purposefully act like shit?

Birdemic 3 got confirmed, awesome.

I bought the movie from chill.com, watched it yesterday. It does toe the line of being self-aware, but for the most part it seems like the writer-director hasn't changed much; but this time he doesn't have the problems of keeping things funded and crewed, so he's enabled to a greater level.

One of the references to the first movie has perhaps made me laugh more than any line from a movie or show I've watched yet this year. I'll spoiler tag it to not ruin the surprise.
Tony (the boy rescued in the first film): I wish Susan could've been here to see this bird skeleton. But she got a disease from that fish that Rod cooked.
I specified line earlier in the paragraph, because visually the CG ambulance seen about a half hour in may beat it.

There is actually less bird in this movie than I expected, but this is probably for the best as time is taken by a lot of new things that kept me going "What!?". I am glad this movie didn't disappoint me, because I am one of the fools who gave too much to its Indiegogo campaign.
