Is there any speed difference? I'm considering going to a local internet hotspot that has a T1 connection and just download shit all day. Do they usually have firewalls to prevent people from torrenting all the bandwith? I'm temporarily on a crappy dial-up connection.

My BT speeds are considerably slower when I use my access point. When I direct correct its at least 10 times faster.

I'd say that any intelligent Admin would probably have most of those ports blocked. If it doesn't work, you could always try changing the ports BT uses to try to get around it.

at home, there is no reason why any internet access should be slower via wifi, as even 802.11b is faster than most peoples internet connections. If you are v.lucky and have 20Mb ADSL/cable, then get g, but otherwise should be no problem.

FTPing to your xbox, now thats worth using a wire for :)
