My father is a product of that exact thing. He not only married a white woman but he has almost no outward ill feelings for white people. When he sees or hears racism from white people, he will talk about how we have come but how far we need to go. But he would never call someone a white devil for going to college..

My dad was always kind of the opposite. My mom was raised around white kids, grew up with them, most of her closest friends were white when she was younger but she met my dad and he was the sort of paranoid/jaded black guy from the 70's and that attitude kind of rubbed off on her. So much so that the first time I ever dated a white girl she didn't talk to me for a couple weeks and when I got engaged to her, I thought she was going to have a heart attack!

Fair enough, but you gotta understand I was already months in when any of this stuff started to come to light. That said, I also liked Rachel a whole lot and by my own admission, liking girls I like a lot greatly affects my judgment.

I'm a white guy but I dated a black girl who's parents and grandparents were/are racist. The one time I went to dinner at her house, her grandpa called me the white devil because I said I was going to college. Apparently to her grandfather an education makes you the devil.
