Without him at the helm, I dunno man but with Amazon and their unlimited coffers not able to make a decent LOTR show, this has mediocre written all over it

I loved Blade Runner 2049. Much more than the original. It was a bonafide classic right out of the gate and one of the best sequels ever made. Amazon will 100% ruin this franchise just like they did with LOTR. Or anything they touch. They have no taste. It's just a rich company with unlimited resources but without a creative bone in their body. A recipe for disaster.

He took a cracking story and expanded it perfectly, adding more depth and just fucking floored it with the visuals and tone, when I got my Sony Theatre Quads it was the first movie I stuck on, the soundscape is next level and I only stuck the film on to demo the intro and ended up watching the entire thing again, as much as I love the original this one was just so much bigger and perfectly executed... Thank fuck Scott turned it down, bet the miserable aul cunt regrets that one

Bladerunner 2049 was a very basic scifi story, I'm a little bit surprised it's praised as much as it is. But I greatly enjoy its vibe, atmosphere and visuals.

This is going to be straight trash though.

I found the sequel to be ok, especially if seen from the perspective of being a mirror (in many ways) to the original film. I did hate a specific sequence in it though (the Las Vegas scene with the glitchy holograms) and a character (Luv), and there was certainly room for improvement. It did have a few nice ideas of its own, albeit kept underdeveloped.

I've yet to watch the animated series.

The description for the premise of this one (2099) is very underwhelming. Hopefully it will be good, but really, nothing so far even hints at aspects of the Blade Runner universe and themes I'd like to see further explored.

Funny how this comes a few days after Disney saying they want to win back their teenage boy audience.

Blade Runner 2049: amazing movie that resonated with teenage boys if the internet memes of Ryan Gosling's "He's literally me" are anything to go by.

So, naturally, Amazon makes the follow-up a female-led movie.

Make movies. Good ones. Or better yet, recognize that these are generational IPs with a very obvious use-by date and let them rest forever.

Then take the money you were going to spend, find talented and creative people, and make good new stories.

But clearly that sounds like too much effort and they'll just continue raping these once great franchises until they're just hollow corpses.
