Blast City - who was there?

OK, I'm actually curious about two things...

First of all, do archives exist? The "wayback machine" (or whatever it's called) actually does contain old archives from BC, but unfortunately, you can go no further than the front page. The forums are not available to browse through (unlike the GAF, which goes back into 1999).

Secondly, who all was there?

That was pretty much the first forum I was addicted to, and it was a blast. I joined BC in 1998, I believe, and enjoyed it well through the launch of the DC. However, things started to fall apart later in 1999, which is when I jumped over to the GAF.

Actually, aside from BC, I also took part in those old katastrophe boards (the DC side) and the DCTP (which still seems to be there).

i was there, but man that board was full of the dumbest people.

one time me and some friends (dem was one of em!) raided the forums and posted a whole bunch of empty topics and stuff it was fun. Such a shitty board though.

despite the lack of swearing the DCTP(or was it saturn technical page? i dunno it was run by dural) was much better forum. and hardcore gaming was cool too.

Yeah, it didn't take too long to realize that...

The whole thing ended up as some sort of experiment in the end too, didn't it?

DCTP(or was it saturn technical page? i dunno it was run by dural)

At the time (around the DC) it was the DCTP. That was a pretty good forum, though very strict (perhaps part of the reason?)

I myself was banned from the DCTP, haven't heard that name in ages! Dural was a pussy!

Yes he fucking was. however, as forums go it was the only place you could talk about sega (besides hg and palace) in peace without the extra insane fanboys posting retarded threads every 2 minutes.

It was called The Saturn 2 Technical Pages at first, then Dural changed the name to Dreamcast Technical Pages as soon as Sega announced the name of the system. I was on the forum from before it changed to DCTP and yeah, it was a great forum. I always found it ridiculous that people made a stink over the boards rules (no swearing for example, I can't believe people has such a hard time simply not cussing, fucking retards just follow the rules), it was a great board, pretty much the best forum for Sega fans. The community still exists, it's called alwaysgame but it's just not the same as DCTP, never will be.

Hardcoregaming was cool too, and that forum is still up if you can believe that.

Blast City was only OK, too many retarded posts over there... DCTP and hardcoregaming were always much better. Also the Dimension-S forum wasn't bad either, another pretty good Sega forum.

I was there. Made only four posts or so. I still read it and all the bullshit that happened:

- The Egg Robo X Capcom debacle
- Anais's takeover of BC in just a month or two of being there
- Anime Joe's multiple usernames

1999 was a good year for it. 2000 was when all the bullshit happened. It was a good board but because of all the bullshit, it went down just as fast as it came. Never went to DCTP or any of the other DC boards. I remember Nintendo Cities also.

It rocked as long as you stayed out of the bs in the OT. As far as I know there is no archive other than a few people who saved various threads on their PCs for future use (see "bs in the OT").

Even though most people split up and headed to other sites, Console City springs to mind, there were a few spinoff sites. However the bs continued since people can't seem to let things die and now there's a private board where some of the posters of old and their friends frequent.

I was there, one of my first boards, actually.

I remember that Egg Robo X thing, posting ¨scans¨ for new Capcom DC games, I believe, saying that his uncle worked for Capcom.

I thought it was stupid the way the owner let the board die. I personally loved the board, much better than the Rumble City and Shock City iterations.

I was at DCTP, too, as a lurker, than I asked where I could find PSX games online and they banned me. hahah.

I spent 50% of my time in college on the Next Generation Palace...wonder if the Palace still exists?

...eww yes it does, and it's just a bunch of hideous b-boy and b-girl avatars, barf

DF exists in a very very minor capacity. a few palace refugees migrated to #ga and here on gaf.

No one from the old old NG days still exists as far as i know though :/

I was there! Yeah, I was actually friends with Anais for awhile, too. Talked on AIM a few times, though its been ages, literally since the end of BC, since I've seen hide or hair of her.

She was a nice person, but oh boy was she involved in drama. It was between her and Tazznum, and I'd rather side with Anais than Tazz. :P

It was fun while it lasted, though, even if ice9 acted like a prick and let it die. I think I made my leap over to GA somewhere between 98-99. One forum's still here and the other isn't, so I think I made the right choice. :)

fyi she's fine. She moved on, got spiritual (life has deeper meaning and all that) but she game much anymore since life got in the way. She's still around if you know where to look. :p

haha wow, blast from the past. I was there....

DJSweetness here.

I ran a blast city NFL 2k1 league that some of you might have been in. That board sucked after ice-9 disappeared to Siberia or wherever the fuck he went.

Anais had a cult thing going. She had Kaleidoscope where it was basically a pack of people telling her how amazing she is, no matter how shitty she was. Like her singing.

DJSweetness!!!

haha

I think a great chunk of Gaffers were on Blast City before or during the pre-ezboards gaf, only nobody wants to admit it. :P

I just remember the Blaster of the Month (or was it week) won a free game.

my nick was Neo-Sega, by the way. I signed up on GAF when some troll was posting about how terrible to board was, after checking it out, and ignoring the insane speed at which the topics FLEW by, I signed up. I signed up here as NeoSega, lost my password, then signed up as AlteredBeast.

I was on it, but I don't remember too much besides Egg Robo X's lies and that Anais idiot always causing a stir in the Off Topic area, then washing herself clean by telling some irrelevant sob story. The Blast City OT there was probably even more stupid than "classic era" GAF OT.

That was probably the first gaming forum I had ever posted on. I was hooked for a little bit, but all I remember in the end is Anais/Longstreet and the hilarity that ensued. Wasn't she like 40 years old or somethin? Single handedly took over that forum, but one forum wasn't enough to contain all of her bullshit so she had to make another one to hold it all. *** would be proud. :p

i was there, it was cool until too many troll came. I was blaster of the month once and ice-9 sended me a new game of my choice free of all charge including shipping.

Nintendo Cities still exists, actually. I still have the entirety of Rumble City archived from the day it was closed, every thread.

Kept it going after ice-9 turned dick on everyone. It's a small board now, not too many people, but it still goes on, after close to five years.

Edit: NeoSega, you beautiful whore, I love you. It's Weltall. Talk to me some time!
