As a longtime wineglass person I find the issue with that particular grip is that right-facing inputs are easier than left-facing ones due to how unnatural of a motion that is for the body.
I'm holding the stick between my middle and ring finger. Typically with my palm facing upwards but sometimes I turn it sideways without noticing. My thumb is usually on top but I put it on the sides depending on what movements I'm doing.
The only things I've had trouble with so far are double QCF motions (especially in the air) and dashing when facing the left side of the screen. Since you need to be able to dash at a moment's notice and be able to change direction depending on enemy movement I'm still botching that completely at regular intervals but I'm getting better.
It probably doesn't help that I've been practicing combo's mainly from the player one position so it feels a bit awkward doing it from the other side.
Considering that I've been using this position for two days though I'm pleased at my progress with it.
I even beat a Tager online today!
At this rate I'll be more than ready for when the game hits.
