Blizzcon Discussion thread of "you made how many billion?"

falastini said:
Ok more speculation on when Cataclysm is coming out... it's been months since I played WoW so someone answer this for me, after the new Onyxia coming up what's left? Is Icecrown the only thing left after that?

During one of the panels one of the devs said, "come next Blizzcon, everyone will be complaining about Goblin rogues". Unless he mispoke, I take that to mean they are targeting to get this out before Q3 2010.

They are shooting for a 2010 release. A Blizz dev was interviewed after one of the panels and he said that they are shooting for a 2010 release and are hoping that the game will be their 2nd game to be released that year.

It was pretty funny though, since Blizz doesn't give out release dates. He was about to say a 2010 release before hesitating and saying that they were aiming for a 2010 release.

This is pure speculation...but I'm kinda wondering if the cataclysm world event will be introduced over the course of patches 3.4 and 4.0 (note that neither patch has even been announced and most assume 3.3 will be the end of Wrath).

Evidence:
-3.3/Icecrown Citadel will NOT be enough to hold people over until the expansion is done, even if it does have 32 bosses (confirmed).
-It's typically over a year between the announcement of the expansion and its release.
-We know the revamped zones will be free.
-Trying to organize the world event around the release of the expansion makes no sense. The world isn't just suddenly going to bam! transform the day of release.

I'm still hoping for an early summer release...but that's probably unrealistic. Making the Cataclysm into the most epic world event we've ever seen would be a truly fantastic way to segue from Wrath to Cataclysm, and it would help hold everyone over (especially those who don't care about raiding).

I'm very confident the world change -or at the very least the world event- will happen in 4.0...and as we've seen in the past, there will be a period of a couple of months between 4.0 and release day. The relevant questions are:

1) Is there an unannounced patch to follow 3.3 which will involve a transitional world event of some sort?

2) How many of the world changes will we see before release, and how much sooner will we see those changes?

Probably a lot. They did some world events before wrath came out, and even recycled some previous ones as well.

This was debunked by GC, unless things have changed in the last 2 weeks. He just threw that number out as a joke, which people took literally.

Effort is ridiculously persistent in that last game.
Yeah, rarely see that. I think he wanted the mutas to die and launch a mini ling assault back as a last ditch effort.

All 3 of those ZvZ were fantastic, glad the US got to see some skill :lol

Wha? Did they say that? I remember them going over custom map support, but I don't remember the specifics.

sc2mapselect.jpg

Something doesn't seem right, but going by that screenshot, if those are all StarCraft 2 maps, then it's already in the game.

I must be missing something because I remember reading DOTA support was definitely not done. If those are all StarCraft 1 maps, or WarCraft 3 maps, then Blizzard needs to work on getting the top middle to say the correct game!

Is there some new CGI cinematic for Starcraft II that i might have missed? :(

I was at the Cinematics panel. The only new, finished work they showed was this really short scene:
kerrigan.jpg

It was only a few seconds long. They did show a really early animation of Kerrigan climbing up a pile of rocks using the 'wings' on her back as limbs to walk with. Despite being an un-textured, low poly model, I found it to be more exciting than the finished scene they showed. There was also an action-packed 2d animatic of Kerrigan and Zeratul fighting which was unfortunately cut.

Oh man, I was hoping this expansion would improve the water in this game. :lol

Now all they need to do is update all character models to be the quality of Draenei and Blood Elves.

Cataclysm sounds amazing... I've never really been too excited for a WoW expansion, but I can't wait for this one.

Doesn't matter, it would save money on Blizz's part/ Think about it. What on those original 5 discs' is even used anymore? The main part of all that data was the world which is literally non-existent anymore. They said that everyone, with the expansion or not, will level in the new azeroth and the old one will be gone forever. So why even bother shipping the original game? Just ship it as Cataclysm and then state that to access the 80-85 features of the game, 2 expansions are needed.

Or atleast re-print the original game with all the new data instead of the old stuff. Would save oodles of time patching up.

you can full install WoW of of lich king dvd, you dont need to install in order

this, also the ARMOR textures, its really bad when you see a low level character standing next to a northrend level character, the texture resolution is like n64 versus xbox 360

Had a chance to play Diablo III, Starcraft 2 singleplayer and Warcraft Cataclysm and the Diablo III demo was the best by far for me. Starcraft 2 was very close but playing a new iteration of Diablo after spending so much time playing Diablo II really brought waves of nostalgia over me.

32 bosses isn't confirmed. He said he was joking about it.

WOW at the worgen transformation. If they do include changing from race, good by dreanei priest hello worgen priest!
You have to look like a goofy human before you can do the awesome transformation though.

I really want to switch up from a Gnome mage. Been one for years. I want to go Worg, but clearly, so will everyone else. So I may hold off on it (if the feature is even available any yime soon).

Monk in game trailer http://www.gametrailers.com/video/monk-class-diablo-iii/54806
I was talking with a friend about this, we think the monk and cataclysm got shitty ingame engine trailers is because their cutscene team is busy working on sc2 camp, and making cgi for both would be too much work at this point. At least I hope that's why, cause both trailers were a tad underwhelming.

Wrath got an in game trailer at first too. The CG stuff for WoW are the intros. Not trailers.

Wrath's was that thing with the Paladin and the Priest entering Northrend by boat. We didnt see the CGI for that until fairly close to launch I think.

Worgen are gonna be Alliances BE >.<

But I want to roll one too!

They realllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllly need to update the old races, if they do all this, and dont do that... its kinda just crazy.

Ah, ok. Kinda glad there won't be 32 bosses tbh. :lol

REALLY makes me think we are going to start seeing Cataclysm content sooner rather than later.

Nov 3.3 --> April 3.4 or maybe 4.0?

I hope 3.2 has more single player/small group stuff; I don't have much interest in the citadel and the stretch of time between now and Cataclysm seems pretty long :(

Ah ok, was still disappointing to see 2 big reveals using ingame engine cutscenes. Cataclysm I understand though cause I'm sure they wanted to show ingame changes to the old world, and the gameplay vid of the monk more than made up for it anyways heh

I dunno man, goblins can fucking summon the bank as a skill. That's some crazy shit.

Yeah that has to be the best racial ability by far. Especially with dual specs as a tank or hybrid class.

My paladin has like 4 different types of gear to carry around.

On the topic of Cataclysm release date. In the panel someone said "We expect to hear a lot of bitching about goblin rogues next Blizzcon" (not a direct quote). It doesn't seem possible that it would release before next Blizzcon, but who knows how far along it is. They seemed to have a lot more information to release than the previous two expansions had when they were announced.

I doubt it will fall beyond 2010 though, both expansions so far have released almost exactly 1 year and 3 months after being announced. That would put this on target for November 2010.

It's gotta be a concession for giving the horde a bunch of ugly green turds as a new race. "Okay so it's kinda half assed, but fuck look at the skills they have!"

Meh. It's more of a convenience racial than anything. Doesn't exactly improve your character.

Rocket jump could be nice though.

Not like any of the other racials vastly improve your character either.

The 1% faster cast speed and gold discounts together with the extra inventory space are way better than a anti CC ability or a mediocre HoT or something.

Plus goblins officially have the most badass land mount in the game, least they will if it actually looks like that concept art in the game.

Should add that the bank racial is really in addition to the more standard racials if you count them up. Goblins will have more racials than anyone but humans and trolls, and half of those races racials are useless if you don't use specific weapons.

If you compare the categories of racials Goblins come out ahead as well. Compared to humans, who have probably the best alliance racials:

Goblins get 1% cast/attack speed bonus, humans get 3 expertise. Goblins get a 2 minute cooldown that can be used 2 different ways, humans get an anti cc tool that can be replaced with a pvp trinket. Goblins get gold discount, Humans get rep bonus. Goblins get 15 alchemy and a bonus on potions, humans get 3% spirit. Then Goblins get bank access and Humans get a crappy perception buff.

Goblins win on every comparison except maybe the rep vs. gold one, depending on the situation. They probably even win that one with the changes made to the reputation system over the years.

I'm obviously in the minority here, but I think Goblins are much cooler than Worgen. I guess I'm just not much of a furry.

I wish I could say the same, but worgen look cool. I like the new model. Too bad I won't be playing one. :(

I like goblins more too myself (I've wanted to play as a goblin since back when WoW first released) but I'm already planning to play both new races once the expansion hits.

They are the gnome counterpart (i'm a avid gnome player :\) of the horde, unlike most other horde who fancy bloodspilling above anything else the goblins care mostly about the cartels they are running.
I love them already :D

I mean, I could just call you a midget fetishist, but the reality of the matter is that the Worgen just look badass and werewolves have a history of rippin' people up. You don't have to be a furry to appreciate that.

I think Worgens do look better in game, but i prefer Goblins as a race. Will probably come back to WoW and make a Goblin when expansion is out.

blizzard have used in-game trailers a bit lately. before the monk trailer it was the wizard. before that it was the zerg reveal.

Well, they don't need to work for the skill, but summoning the bank is available to all characters already. So it's not that cool imo.

But that mount......damn....

I hope Goblins have some good animation. Wanted to level a rogue next, but I guess I will wait with that till the expansion now.

(Alliance again with shitty race-abilities confirmed?? :-( )

Good morning thread!

I can't seem to remember what the goblins racial treat was, anyone got that?
