Blizzcon Discussion thread of "you made how many billion?"

This is from The Guild panel at Blizzcon:

3:51PM Q: Some dude asks if the carpet matches the curtains. People boo him off -- Felicia wants to know what it means, Sean turns to whisper it in her ear and she is quite shocked and offended. Which, strangely, makes it more funny. Jeff: "I think she has blinds actually." Felicia: "We're never coming back here are we?" The crowd actually loves it.

:lol

Wow this sounds ridicilulous.

Huh, so the Real ID will be integrated with Facebook and Twitter.

Cross-game/Cross-realm chats with friends!

I dont think it's integrated with either, they just used it as an example of how it does this sort of situation right.

that's true, I could've swore he said it was, but either way...cross-realm chat between friends is awesome.

Yeah, it's not integrated, he just brought up TwitFace as an example of what they want to achieve with battle.net.

Even as someone who doesn't play much Starcraft, i am really looking forward to Battle.net changes, if only for the unified friends list/achievements.:D

Hearing him describe the differences between this and any other service is so hilarious. They should have just partnered with Live or Steam.

It's a mix between Steam, and MSN Gaming Zone.

Premium maps....they had better be careful with that shit

Yeah Im a little iffy on it myself, sounds alot like they are just about to ease us into paying for Bnet stuff. I dont think anyone used to so much free content is going to exactly like it.

I wonder how people will respond to it. Will premium maps become quite popular, and if so how will that effect the market of free maps. I mean if folks are just impulse buying maps like iTunes/iPhone type stuff, will most of the good maps wind up being premium?

Shared achievements! Thank god! I dont feel so bad making that Goblin Rogue now.
Wait...more info on this...achievements are going to be shared across accounts instead of per character?

I can understand the point of pricing for maps, it all depends on how much it is. They used CS an example and it's a fine example.

They also mentioned original content for paid maps, so if you use all of blizzard's assets chances are you will be a free map. if you go out and create a new game type, new artwork/assets/everything then you can probably charge some cash for it.

FUCK YEA an aussie asking about our AWESOME lag!

Maybe I misunderstood them, but: Did they just say that blizzard chooses which maps are paid dlc and which are not?

Anyway, thats not a thing you want for a competitive RTS. You split your userbase with this move.

Already these questions have been tons better than the Diablo ones.
:lol Hopefully someone will come with something funny!

I thought after the first panel maybe the Blizzard guys really like Mountain Dew...

Now it's just obviously even MORE marketing with the hidden water bottles behind some of the bnet guys.

Man they must be really strapped for cash.

I'm sure only custom games will be for pay, not actual sc maps.

So is anyone going to ask about LAN? Come on!

Does anyone really go to LANs anymore that don't have access to the internet? It's a nice guise for pirates to complain about I suppose...

Ugh, I'm really disappointed I won't be playing Diablo III until 2011. It's about the only game I'm anticipating at the moment and that's such a long wait.

On the plus side, it gives me a lot of time to save up for a killer PC to play it on.

Some of these cosplayers are hot.

Ability to SELL maps.
Oh God, this is so awesome.

I'm totally happy for all the developers that gave me countless (really, countless) hours of fun playing custom games on WCIII.
