Bloodborne launch trailer

What does this even mean.

"The one thing I don't like about Bloodborne is that its almost too good."

Bloodborne OT: Where unknown terror and majestic elegance go hand in hand

Bloodborne OT: Explore the unknown, cry out in terror, but proceed nevertheless

Bloodborne OT: In Yharnam take heed, lest you shall bleed

How can a game be overdesigned?

What that does even mean?

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/overdesign

Overdesign refers to making things look elaborate for the sake of looking elaborate and detailed. Think the arguments against Nomura's work for including belts and buckles all over, or 90s comic books and pouches everywhere.

Also, has this thread devolved to mocking random twitter accounts?

EDIT: See below. Darksiders definitely falls into the 1990s comic book form of overdesign.

The first thing i thought of when seeing those trees was German expressionism.
That might be it, actually. The name that kept coming across my head was Tim Burton, but he doesn't really do intricate stuff so much. I think I just associate him with more mainstream gothic-esque art or whatever.

I was thinking, how awesome would it be for a Miyazaki game set on ancient China setting, with his philosophical, gothic horror twist to it.

If you have a twitter account, go and suggest it to him, pronto.

We could finally have an awesome kungfu/wusha RPG after such a long time.

A friend told me this afternoon that Edge would never give 9 to this game and the game ended with Average Metacritic when they have already 20 to 30 reviews 8.1

¿Are you who you think?

The game seems like a Gothic and Barroque architecture mix. Clearly barroque fashion /clothes are on the main character

That trailer.. Just when I thought I was ready for this game, how wrong I was.
Stay strong everyone, the wait makes hunters mad.

"If you thought From Software was going soft, Hidetaka Miyazaki is about to put you brutally back in your place. And if you've been watching this generation from the sidelines, unmoved by the remasters and rush jobs while you wait for the first true essential to arrive, now's the time. As if there was ever any doubt, Miyazaki and his team have done it all over again."

Edge 4/10

Over-designed usually means too crowded with detail. Empty/open/flat elements gives design room to breathe. Common game design pitfall - "Let's put in ALL the things!"

I don't think that's an inherently bad thing.
The reason it could be bad is if half the stuff doesn't work, and it's just there to be there.
If there's a lot of stuff and it works well, I think in many cases, that'd be preferable over not as much stuff.

...

I've tried to parse this at least three times. I still have no idea what you're trying to say.

I think he is saying his friend thinks Edge will not give this game a 9 and that the game will average out on 81 after 20 to 30 reviews

There is very little chance of that. The only reasons it would dip that much lower than the Souls games are technical issues, or oppressive BS that hasn't been revealed yet. Something as broken as the Mirror Knight fight, but on NG rather than NG+ only, could cause a huge drop in scores.

What's broken about the Mirror Knight fight on NG+?

That guy needs to see Barroque architecture and style, not all are just plain buildings and clothes, maybe his brain can not handle such environments because he has not seen barroque before.

Jesus christ, why are people jumping on this random twitter user? It's like people can't take any criticism or differing views about a game they haven't played.

What's broken about the Mirror Knight fight on NG+?

He summons red phantoms to help during the boss fight, but they can just stand behind him where they can't be hit, but can hit you with magic and heal the boss with Warmth. It is a giant, giant difficult spike if you get unlucky, like virtually impossible unless the doofus invader screws up. In promotional materials they showed it off, but relegated it to NG+ like the Gravelords at some point late in development.
